"Service was amazing, wine pairings were fantastic ($35, very worthwhile), five course tasting ($70, a bit high by conparison) was mostly great. Market vegetable salad was beautiful but forgettable, sweetbreads were lovely, halibut was divine, duck was good (not great) collards best ever. Dessert was lovely!"

"I've been to Coquette once as a tourist and once as a resident. Now that I live in NO, I'll be back as often as I can. The waitstaff was professional and attentive and knowledgeable. We had the tasters menu and the element of surprise is part of the experience. The wine pairings were spot on. And the olive oil sponge cake with lemon curd and green pea sorbet was "to die for.""

"All the flavors of the foods complemented each other so well. We had the fried oysters (without the beef tartare), the seared scallops (with chargrilled octupus and andouille sausage, the duck breast (with collard greens and quince - didn't sound appetizing to me, but tasted amazing, followed by the chocolate pudding with andouille caramel sauce and icecream. Service was excellent and a very nice dinner experience. The ingredients used are the freshest available, so the menu tends to change on a daily basis, with a few specials that stick around. We will be back."

"Seriously the best food we had in New Orleans. In fact, we went there again just because it was so good. Do not miss this place. The chef uses fresh, local ingredients to create beautiful, unique, and delicious food. Our favorites were the foie gras, the buttermilk chicken, and the strawberries and cream. My mouth is watering just typing this. Also had the best mint julep of my life there. The staff were friendly and helpful. I absolutely love this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone visiting Nola."

"Although we were both tempted by the 3 course brunch, we ended up ordering individual entrees. We had the brisket eggs Benedict & biscuits & gravy with fried chicken. Oh & to die for mimosas & a spicy Bloody Mary. Did we like it? No, we loved it as our clean plates would attest! Great atmosphere, friendly staff, would definitely return & recommend."

"Food was very good, well prepared and very tasty. However, at the prices charged, I am looking for an excellent experience, which I am sorry to say, I did not have. I ordered the scallops, which came with grilled octopus and 5 (very small) house made sausage medallions. Delicious. But nothing else. No starch, no vegetable. The plate was literally 3/4 empty. For the same price (I believe it was $26) I ate at many other fine dining establishments during my visit to NOLA which included a full meal. Service was very good, ambiance is lovely, but in my opinion, the experience is not worth the price charged (on top of cab ride from French Quarter if you happen to be staying there)."

"We always go to Coquette when we go to New Orleans. It is one of our favorite restaurants in NOLA, our any where. The food is always outstanding. This trip we had a shaved foie gras salad with asparagus, peas and beets with a huckleberry vinegarette. It was divine. I also had the fried oysters. They were lightly fried to preserve the taste and served with pickled vegetables. Our dining companion had chicken fried sweetbreads at brunch. They literally melted in your mouth. We also had biscuits and gravy, with fried chicken and a sunny side up egg. It was my all-time favorite biscuit and gravy preparation. The gravy was so meaty with tasso ham. The cocktails are always excellent, as is dessert. Friendly staff. A+"

"One of the best meals I've had in quite some time. Dishes were creative without feeling forced. Cocktails were well-balanced and satisfying. The diners next to us brought their two high chair aged children, which seemed inappropriate for this type of restaurant. They were loud and disruptive. I don't blame the restaurant. I blame the parents for not having a sense of decorum. Other than that, we had a lovely time."

"I had been to Coquette previously and really enjoyed it so I was slightly disappointed to see that their menu changed. I'm not sure how often they changed it, but upon returning, the menu was not as enticing.
The food was still delicious and we really enjoyed the pork belly and the desserts; however, the service was not ideal. It took the waiter about 20 minutes after they gave us menus to take our orders - my mom even had to ask him to take our order, and we were introduced to one waiter and then another one ended up serving us the whole time.
The first time I went, I knew I had to go back. But now, I don't think I'll be returning - there are so many other restaurants in New Orleans that are better."

"I'm writing a physical letter to the chef and owner for an abysmal night. Part of me blames myself for taking the last reservation before close, and another part of me feels like we just got the short end of a stick.
DO visit as it is a great restaurant with fresh local items, and good food

"We come to NOLA 3 or 4 times a year (kid in college). We have tried many many of the finer restaurants in the city. We always come back to Coquette. It never disappoints -- always great food -- always a terrific dining experience. That said, this time we felt the food had slipped just a bit. It was not quite as good a our prior six visits here, but they all can't be the best. We will certainly keep coming back."

"No, they don't serve lion or pickled sea urchin. What they do serve is beautiful, delicious and fantastically FRESH! I loved the little touches such as olive praline on the side of the salad--nothing like you'd imagine. My partner was really out there--he had a steak :( It was heavenly! I had catfish on a puree of sweet potato with chow chow and smoked pork. Hard to describe, but it was divine!

"This was one of the highlights of a 4 day trip my wife and I took to New Orleans. We came from Oregon and we were very interested in checking out the food scene in NOLA. I spent quite a bit of time researching reviews and decided to make a reservation at Coquette. We were definitely not disappointed. The mostly locally sourced daily changing menu offered a number of unique and delicious items. I particularly liked the tartare w/ oysters and the duck entree. I would also recommend checking out their unique cocktail list. Try the one with Tequila & Aperol. The host, servers, and manager were all extremely friendly and helpful. We were checked on frequently and the food was delivered quickly. Special thanks to the manager for great local tips!"

"My wife and I have visited New Orleans on three occasions over the years, always looking for fine dining as a priority. Some online research turned up a blog with a review of Coquette and we liked what we read. There is a fulltime pastry chef and bread is baked fresh on site and was a delightful cut above the ordinary. The menu is nouvelle french and features locally sourced ingredients. The food was impeccably prepared and presented, waitstaff was equally impressive and utilize a team approach to table service. Although we didn't order any cocktails, there was an extensive menu and most patrons were indluging and enjoying. We stuck to wine and were pleased with the selections. Highly recommended, we'll be coming back!"

"I would recommend Coquette to any foodie friend in a heart-beat. I can't say enough good things about our lunch here.
The food was New Orleans refined and modern: updated yet very aware of its roots. For example, the fried oysters inside were super tender, outside crispy and not at all greasy, served with pickled green tomatoes diced up into elegant fine little cubes, wioth a smidge of pink, slightly spicy aioli across the bottom.
Excellent cocktails. Good wine list selection.
The feel is such that, at least at lunch-time, I think one feels equally at home here in a dinner jacket or in shorts. Casual is fine, as long as you remain classy. Excellent service."

"We came to Coquette following a reception with food, so we were not very hungry. I had an appetizer of fried oysters and beef tartare. It was exceptional. The hot juicy oysters were a lovely contrast to the smooth cold tartar. My husband had a delicious entrée which he thoroughly enjoyed. The wine list was well priced and very good. I liked the ambiance of the place - set in a suburban neighborhood in an older house with tin ceilings and a wonderful bar that was either old or was made to look old. Great high mirrors and beautiful wood work. The waitstaff were most accommodating and pleasant. I wish we had time to go back soon."

"They were slammed but we had to wait about 15 or 20 minutes for our table when we already had a reservation that we were on time for. While waiting for our table, we could not get the bartender to serve us. And there were 2 bartenders. At one point, I even walked to the other end of the bar and politely asked one of the guys to take our drink order when he had a chance. He gave me a verbal yes. And then a few minutes later he walked to our end of the bar and checked in w/ a couple who was eating dinner at the bar. His not taking our drink order almost seemed intentional. He then walked away without saying anything to us. and then our table was ready, so we never had our drink order taken. Bizarre and annoying. But the food is good"

"Had Brunch, which was good, but not exceptional. Food was fresh and very well prepared, but scrambled eggs are, after all, just scrambled eggs. And, there was nothing memorable or noteworthy about the Eggs Benedict either. The dinner menu looks more promising and interesting. I would try again because the quality is clearly there - but, Brunch did not live up to the promise (nor the high prices)."

"After 2 days of amazing food at Jazzfest (aka Mudfest this year!), we decided to clean-up our act and try Coquette for Sunday brunch. "For many years, we have looked forward to visiting Coquette to celebrate a birthday, which falls during Jazz Fest. However, after this year, we will not be going back. Despite making reservations well in advance, our group was squeezed into a table beside the busy restaurant entrance. The doors stayed open throughout the night, letting in an endless stream of people and the chilly night air. To make matters worse, one of the hostesses on duty had an attitude that could best be described as snippy. Table service was only mediocre. The food arrived hot, but it didn't take it long to go cold between the night air and the cold manner of the hostess. It's too bad that a restaurant of which we had such fond memories has now lost its charm."

"Third time at Coquette and we have loved it every time. Its high rating in reviews is well-deserved. Everything from start to finish was excellent. The food is delicious and the service attentive. Shrimp and grits were the best we have had anywhere. Well worth the short trip from downtown or the French Quarter."

"Unfortunately this restaurant is located on various lists of top places To eat in New Orleans and it was highly recommended to us by persons very familiar with NO dining. We were looking forward to excellence. On the day of our reservation, We were emailed a confirmation of our reservation with an attachment to view the menu. We were excited for the selections....This was not the menu available. Our server/ part time manager, apologized but clearly was so exhausted by the number of parties she was serving, gave little effort to appease our disappointment. Our food was good but the ambience was noisy and we felt like an After thought. The service was dismal and for a top rated expensive restaurant, it leaves much to be desired."

"We celebrated our Anniversary at Coquette. I read prior reviews that said they received a complimentary glass of Champagne. We were wished a happy anniversary, but no other gestures. The food preparations were unique and delicious. The service was excellent. The upstairs dining room is lovely and the noise level was minimal. I complained to my husband that I thought we would have received a better table given the special occasion (maybe they were already booked). We had a table for 2 facing the side street and I had a fireplace mantel poking me in the back of my head. My husband pointed out that the beautiful floor to ceiling windows facing Magazine St. had obnoxious neon signs illuminating those tables."

"My fiance and I would both say that it is perhaps the best meal we've ever had while dining out. A highlight of our trip to New Orleans. Delicious and unique and better than our imaginations would have suggested. We will absolutely eat at Coquette every time we return to New Orleans and recommend it to all of our friends. This review may sound overly generous but that is how great the meal was.
I had the halibut and she had the scallops. We also ordered the strawberry cream desert and the chocolate pudding. Unforgettable!"

"The vegetable salad was among the top dishes I've ever eaten-- the taste and presentation were flawless. My soft shell crab was very good, although the server said it was pan sautéed , it seemed fried to me. My friend said her halibut was wonderful.
The biggest drawback to this restaurant is the service. The servers are young and seem to have a condescending attitude which needs to be adjusted immediately."

"Fortunately we were seated upstairs where we could hear each other talk. When we finished and walked downstairs, the noise level was very loud which was probably fine for the younger diners filling that area. I was grateful we'd been seated upstairs.
The food was sensational! Two of us had the asparagus soup, prepared with both a puree of both cooked asparagus, and uncooked asparagus, then swirled with a green oil. I'd go back again just for the soup, though since the menu changes daily, I might get to try another winner of a soup next time. My husband had the salad, a beautiful presentation and wonderfully delicious with exotic flavors. The rest of dinner was equally good and the service was all one could wish for."

"My first trip to New Orleans and this was our one planned dinner over three days. I love food and trying new places. The foodies on chowhound consistently raved about Coquette and for good reason. The service was solid, well-timed. The food was delicious, even if the portions were smaller than we'd have liked. Wine list was thoughtful. We were at a corner table near the front of the second floor dining room. The decor was beautiful and warm, but once the sun went down it was a little too dark as the chandeliers were over other tables. An easy fix is votives on the tables. My only criticism. All in all, we really enjoyed Coquette."
