"Had company from France and the UK come to visit. All are seasoned travelers and have eaten in many of the best restaurants in the world - from tiny Asia Pacific islands to the City of Lights. We all agreed, we could not have chosen a more appropriate place for this wonderful reunion. The food was superb. The rabbit as fine as in Germany; the lamb - well we could have been in New Zeeland; the scallops - close your eyes and dip your feet into sand or at a wonderful bistro in Paris. The wine was one of our friend's favorites which he can find no more. We laughed our heads off. The waiters were delightful participating in our joy. The hostess, gorgeous, charming, warm and welcoming. What a delightful time. Joy every bite of the way."

"We went to celebrate my birthday. Having been to Paggi house before, I though outside would be better for our small group as the inside is very quite and sedate. But there was a group of about 20 at a table near by and they were very noisy and it really made the place feel very casual - like a Guerros or other low-end outdoor eating. Fun when you want that, but not what we were going for with Paggi house....."

"I had eaten brunch before and was looking forward to the buffet; however, they have now changed their Sunday menu to a 'select three'. I was wary but actually each course was excellent, well prepared and presented, and at $35/person, not cheap but reasonable. You can't beat the service and the ambiance is perfect for a Sunday morning. I will continue to recommend the Sunday brunch menu to friends and will go again myself."

"First - this was the first time they'd tried a different format, so our bad experience shouldn't necessarily be yours. However. There was onlt one valet on a busy Sunday, they'd gotten rid of the buffet format, we were seated inside on a beautiful day and they over-air conditioned the place, the food was not up to their usual par and the 3-course prix fixe inappropriate and expensive for brunch. They finally gave us the meal for free and canceled our 3rd course when it still hadn't come in 2 hours, so they did a manful job making it up to us and we tipped them fully. I love paggi house normally, so I'd recommend giving them a second chance, but what a mess."

"It was very overpriced for the amount and quality of food that was served; my friend and I were both hungry after a "small plate" and a "large plate." The menu is very limited and although the presentation was fantastic, the flavor was not fabulous. My friend's halibut was overcooked and when she mentioned it to the waitstaff was told "Oh, I'm sorry about that." No offer to remake it, take money off bill, comp a dessert or drink. We were there for my birthday and told them so when making the reservation. Again, nothing special said or done for a birthday. I can say I've done it but I won't be back."

"Paggi House is an Austintatious restarant with excellent ambiance, atmosphere, and character for many types of dining occasions. It's a romantic setting for couples, great for groups, brunch, or for a happy hour get together. The views of lake Ausin, the city skyline combined with the candlelit surroundings and the fabulous menu and wine choices make this place a must dine in my book. I've dined at Paggi House going back to my Junior Prom in 1984 and today it is better than ever."

"The food was terrible, and the service was even worse. We were there for restaurant week, and when we told our waitress that she rolled her eyes and told us that she can't wait for restaurant week to be over. Then it took 45 minutes for her to bring us menus (the place was not even half full). The best part of the meal was the wine, but even that was about 90 degrees. We couldn't even stomach the dessert. Overall, it was one of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant."

"We had celebrated our 1 yr anniversary at Paggi house and really enjoyed the experience, food, and service. So this year we had a reservation to celebrate our 2 yr anniversary. The inside seating was not full, but the waiter was not attentive. We asked if we could adjust the table and he checked with the hostes and nicely said "no problem", but then just watched as I had to move the table myself. The service was so slow and unpleasant that we just left without even having our drink order taken."

"I enjoyed the food for brunch at the Paggi House, however, the portion sizes were quite small. Both my female freind and I thought the portions were small. If you are not a big eater, this maybe the place for you. I actually left the restaurant almost hungry. I had the chicken & waffles (it was actually one-half of a waffle) and it was tasty. The service was nice as was the house that has been converted.
I may go back for drinks, but I probably won't eat there again unless I snack on something before I go."

"I have been going to Paggie House for years. I consider it an Austin hidden gem.The service is usually a 10. I guess we went on an off night because the service was sub par. It took over 5 minutes for anyone to even greet us and another 15 minutes before we even got water. The only thing that saved the night was the food. I will go back, but my stars and outlook on Paggie House has diminished a little. Thanks!"

"Visiting from the DC area, we were eager to find a place to enjoy good food in an outdoor dining situation, Paggi House did not disappoint. We had the tuna appetizer, snapper and grouper (special) entrees, and a most pleasant bottle of Chablis. All three dishes were well seasoned and very flavorful. The only complaint isthat the sauce with the grouper was too sweet and tended to overpower the very fresh and delicate taste of the grouper. The wine list, while extensive and interesting, is really quite pricey (rather shockingly so). However, our waiter recommended the reasonably priced Chablis, which worked out well. Service was very good, and we were kept apprised on the status of our orders as the proceeded through the kitchen."

"Took family visiting in town for dinner. We had a great experience. The food was great (we shared several small plates and one large plate). Our sashimi was divine. The grouper special was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The foie gras was creamy and rich a great way to finish up our main course. The desserts were positively delicious. We had some very, very good butterscotch-coconut ice cream, along with their seis leches cake. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially in great weather, as their porches are lovely."

"Had been to their Sunday brunch before and was sad to see they did away with it.
Nevertheless, everyone in my party enjoyed the food. Me being mostly vegan, it was a bit hard to find something. If I was an avid meat eater, I'd be all over it, though! Beautiful atmosphere, service was great, and the inside bar atrium room is my FAV! I want to live in it. The outside is very pretty, too."

"I went with my family for Easter Brunch. They had a special menu - which was outstanding! We all chose different meals, but we all loved them. The service was great and we enjoyed the view of downtown from the patio outside. Thanks for making our Easter so special!"

"We had a wonderful Easter brunch at Paggi house. We had 4 young children with us and requested patio/outside seating, which they honored. I would have given outstanding scores for most of the features; however, they didn't officially have a "children's menu" option. It worked out, but the dishes were a bit fancy for the kids (ie- french toast was 4 little round pieces of bread topped w/bacon; delicious, but most kids are accustomed to a more simple option; also, waffles on the "fancy" side w/spices in them). Our server, Shea, was fantastic. We loved the patio seating w/the kids. Nice setting outside in general. Definitely nice brunch place if weather nice & know patio is fantastic option for happy hour or dinner too! Thx!"

"I was expecting the fabulous Sunday Brunch, served very Sunday, but was pleasantly surprise by the fantastic special Easter Sunday menu.My family sat out doors, enjoyed eachothers company while enjoying wonderful food. We found it was all reasonably priced."

"Small plates were excellent. Main course were a tad overpriced. Dessert was good. Cocktails were good. Our waiter was excellent, but there was one waiter who kept coming into the dining room, going up to the mirror above the fireplace three times and each time spent a noticeable amount of time fixing her while we were there eating our dinner. We thought this was rather strange unprofessional."

"This restaurant features menu items that sound adventurous, but that are basically pretentious and over-priced. The wine list in particular is over-priced. I found not a single interesting bottle of wine for less than $45 - and that's the very low end.
When ordering my rack of lamb I was not asked how I wanted it cooked. I would have said medium rare. What I got was cold rare with huge pockets of gelatinous fat. The seasoning was great. I would have loved it had it been even slightly cooked.
Our patio table for four was essentially a small, round two-top. It was overcrowded and very prone to spillage. There are too many really good restaurants in Austin to pay these kinds of prices for mediocre food."

"I've been to Paggi house several times in the past and was shocked to have such a negative experience. The menu has changed dramatically. Everything has an Asian vibe . When did that happen? I don't what about Paggi house says Asian? Also the menu was very limited. The food was meh. The sweet potato soup was tasteless. It was actually the cheese and garnish that lended any flavor at all. The fish was fishy. Everything was bland and pureed as if I was a nursing home patient incapable of chewing. Finally the BIGGEST problem of all was when I put down $200 cash for a $150 bill and the waitress had the audacity to ask if I needed change! Really?! No I'm not giving you a $50 tip. Dream on, lady. I felt like stiffing her, but I didnt"

"Food was excellent, great location, everything was great except, frankly, our waiter. Instead of informing us about the wonderful food, he gave us a 5-minute lecture on "how food chemicals was the way of the future" and then proceeded to go on for several more minutes being, frankly, very pompous about what fabulous meals he had in other restaurants in the world including "THE best restaurant in the world", whatever that was.
I may be a food luddite and dress casually, but I travel the planet for work dined in many very fine restaurants, I don't need a lecture about unappetizing "food chemicals" and spherical something or others injected into appetizers. Sigh."

"note: did no select special features in the review based on our experience. there r things that could b great features, but r not due to the overall experience we had, n if that is the normal service for the paggi house??? very simply put, my wife and i have been in the fine dining business for over 20 years and the paggi house is another example of a beautiful establishment, with a great view, great feel, but does not deliver as so many establishments do not!!! we r speaking mostly in regards to receiving a guest experience that wows u so much that u dont want to leave or cannot wait to b back!!! service and attention to detail lacks as in so many places. we spend always $100 plus per person when dining and it is never worth it ever!"

"We found the food excellent, although the portions were a little small. There was a nice view available outside, but we were seated outside without requesting it on a chilly night and had to move later. The waiter was attentive, but the hostess, seemed confused. The menu was varied, but could have been a bit more descriptive. Although the food is excellent, the rest of the experience didn't quite justify the price."

"The service was so bad that I was terribly embarrassed I chose the restaurant for an important client dinner. The food was fine- not exceptional. Excellent service could have made the whole experience come together. With terrible service, there was lots of time to think about the average food and high price."
