"delicious meal with another couple. starters were clams in wine sauce, which while excellent was a skimpy service of 6 for $14, and a garden salad. three of us chose soft shell crabs and a lone veal parm from the specials menu, which was printed along with prices, such a thoughtful touch!"

"Perhaps my expectations were just too high... Dinner for 4 adults and 2 kids was $400 (gratuity included). There was nothing too spectacular about the food or service. We were there for Mother's Day. We were placed in a third floor room, which looked like it was set up for banquets or private parties, so the ambience was nothing more than a mid-level hotel conference room. Although we were 15 minutes early for a 2PM reservation, we were seated immediately. The ladies were given long-stem stem roses. The maitre de was very helpful and courteous. Our servers were fairly good, but seemed overwhelmed by another table of 4. For the money, there are too many other VERY good restaurants to visit. I don't expect to return here. Overall rating B-."

"Been to Tre Piani and Tre Bar a number of times, consistently delicious, I had one of the most unusual swordfish preparations I ever had, sometimes unusual is over the top, the crock cooked, stuffed dish was balanced and perfectly prepared."

"Tre Piani has been preferred restaurant at my company for business meals for some time. This occasion was a team celebration and the upstairs room easily accomodated our table of ten (and can easily accomodate much larger groups). Despite being a large(r) group and clearly a business meal, the service was personable and well-executed."

"great food keeps us coming back but not the service. We had a combo of the $29 3- course dinner and an a la carte choice. Great value for the food provided. Delicious piniolli-encrusted seafood was excellent and well prepared, although very rich. Nice pinot noir by the glass, but white wine was warm. Host is very customer-focused and is the heart of this operation, from a customer perspective. Service can be slow, which is fine, but some request is often forgotten (i.e. request for a diet coke, or ground pepper). Staff is sincere but not on their A game. With all this said, still a great restaurant which offers great food and should not be missed."

"We have been here many times as the food is normally very good. On this occasion the food was actually very good but the service was about as bad as one could get - the waiter was always MIA and acted as if our table was invisible."

"Service was incompetent. Our appetizer was wrong two times and still a disappointment. Our drink order was wrong two times. Entrees were delicious, but by that point in the evening it was too little too late."

"I am astounded by the prior reviews of the food here. Not one of the four diners at my table had anything complimentary to say about any of the dishes that were ordered. Even the pizza was mediocre at best. Dishes were over done with ingredients that did not compliment one other. Tomato sauce in a beet salad? Really? I had flounder that was inedible. Chef Ramsey would have a field day here."

"This is one of our favorite restaurants, but the service during our last visit was not up to their usual standards. The wait staff seemed confused, asking for our order a few times, forgetting to serve our drinks until we asked, and bringing us additional bread after the meal (and dessert) was completed. Fortunately, the food was up to its usual excellent standard, so we'll overlook the service issues."

"The Silky Lobster Ravioli was AMAZING. I've never had anything like it before. I tried it because of another rave review on it, and it did not disappoint. They had a kale salad as a special, and I tried that too. Very unusual, and very good. The staff was very attentive, the Rioja wine I had was excellent and I will definitely go back. The pasta with sausage dish my daughter had was ok - nothing superb, but the Lobster Ravioli made up for it."

"Not our first time here nor our last ... a great "go-to" choice when going out with a mixed group - i.e., some who enjoy creative, unusual and wonderful cuisine, and others in the group who are less adventurous and prefer more traditional options. Tre Piani does both, and they do it very well."

"Always a great time at Tre Piani and Tre Bar. It is a little hard to find, I guess that is why they always try so hard to please. The food is always fresh, beautiful and delicious. My last visit I tried the homemade silk lobster ravioli with mascarpone, it was feather light and absolutely sinfully delicious. Equally delicious is the veal osso buco. For dessert I tried a canoli cake and an excellent espresso. Do yourself a favor and go."

"The food arrived cold and had to be sent back to reheat. Also when I asked for my dish to be gluten free and "plain" to eliminate sauce on steak, it arrived without the main vegetable which was to be sauteed kale. The waiter's excuse was that I had asked for it to plain. How that translated to no kale, I haven't a clue."

"I am sorry to say that the food has declined. The bread was just out of the freezer, my chicken was mediocre and came with inedible spinach that was overcooked to a sad shade of green. I used to be a frequent customer but this will be my last visit."

"Probably one of the less well-known restaurants in the Princeton area due to its location but to those who go there a guaranteed great dining experience with reliable service. There is a great bar attached to the restaurant which shouldn't be missed either."

"Excellent service and excellent food. Quiet area but once inside you're imediatley impressed. Two of my guests spent time in Italy and commented how the place reminds them of restaurants they've visited in Italy. Great find. Will be back."

"Wonderful atmosphere but painfully mediocre food. The lasagna was impossible to believe. There was absolutely no pasta or meat in it at all - just ricotta cheese and sauce. When we complained, we were told the pasta must have all melted. The chicken milanese was without flavor and the tortellini in bolognese was so-so at best. And it was pretty pricey."

"We had a party of 6 with mixed reviews. Everyone with pasta dishes was happy. Osso Buco and Filet were terrible. Filet was ordered medium rare but delivered cooked well done. The Osso Buco was mostly bone. The sauce on it was nothing to brag about. I also had the carpoccio which had no cheese or cappers"

"From the minute you are greeted by Giancarlo, you feel like you are with family. The food is great and so is the service. You can't beat the Friday night special of $29.95 for a fabulous 3 course dinner. The clams in broth appetizer was delicious and SOOOO fresh. The roasted breast of chicken and linguine with clams was scrumptious. The arugula tastes like it was just picked and the carpaccio is perfect! Thank you Tre Piani, you are our favorite date night!"

"mediocre and very overpriced. seafood risotto which was $26 for lunch was carelessly cooked. service well meaning but amateurish. They should open the room upstairs for lunch. It is quieter and more appropriate for a business setting. There are many better places in the area."

"Ambience and atmosphere is good but the food was not good. We ordered the rack of lamb or lamb chops that they have and they came out cold. We told them that and they took it back to warm it up. The second time they came out they were cold again. HELLO! The the third time they were WARM not HOT like you get at other restaurants. Pizza that was ordered was OK and the Waiter we had was sub par. Wouldn't go back to this restaurant again!"

"We had a 7:30pm reservation two weeks in advance because it was the weekend after Valentines Day. When we approached the host from the Wine Bar he stated it would be "a couple of minutes " for a table to be ready. We were then escorted to the bar to wait. The host came by and appologized stating "everyone came at the same time".What that has to do with having a reservation was beyond comprehension. 40 minutes later we were seated and it got worse. Our waiter meant well but was cluless, slow and seemed lost at times. Food was cold not even warm when served. Asked to warm-up and that was what was done. It was only warm second time out so we just tolerated it. Total time for dining 2 hrs. 15 minutes. Not a great evening out."

"The food was good and the ambiance was nice. We started with drinks and appetizers at Tre Bar and moved over to Tre Piani for dinner. The host was very welcoming and the bartender at Tre Bar was great, but they were VERY understaffed in both the restaurant and bar. For a bar that size, they should have had more hands on deck and the single bartender should not also be busing tables from the lounge area!"

"They don't have plastic cups with lids for my 2 young children and one of them ended up spilling the whole glass of orange juice on the table and me. The waitress didn't notice it but after I told them about it, they quickly clean up the juice. Food was okay/good (was better last time when I went there for lunch)."

"Food was excellent. Service very good. The restaurant was crowded, but not too loud. We were downstairs, right near the bar, which probably accounted for most of the noise. Overall, very good."
