"My mom, sister, young nieces & young daughter were on a girl's weekend and found Frank's online. My mom, sister & I love fish & always try to find a good fish spot whenever we go somewhere so we thought we would try Frank's. Very glad we did because it was the best restaurant we have experienced on a trip in a long time. I will definately go there again if I am in Galena. The kids had chicken strips & said they were the best they had ever had."

"Came to Galena for a relaxing weekend. Stayed at the Irish Cottage Hotel and was I glad that Frank O'Dowd's Irish Pub and Grill was inside the building! EXCELLENT food and really nicely decorated. Beer was also excellent. Had the Gaelic Steak and it was done to perfection with a great irish whiskey cream sauce. Had planned to try several restaurants in the area but honestly, with the quality at Frank O'Dowd's why bother! Will definitely go back and stay where I did and eat a Frank's again!"

"My husband and I ate at Frank O'Dowd's for a birthday celebration. It was a Friday night and quite busy but our service was great, as was the food. I love that we can get everything from a steak to Irish shepherd's pie. And there are so many great beer and wine selections - some very unique. The live music was just right - great variety, not too loud for conversation, and very entertaining. We will definitely be back again, even though we live two hours away. What a treat!!!"

"Wait staff attendance was less than ideal. We were able to get our reserve table moved from a small one near the rest rooms to a larger one up near the stage. We sat a couple extended times with empty drink glasses, and we finally got up and made preperations to leave before someone finally noticed and brought our check. On the plus side, the atmosphere, beer selection and food are absolutely first rate. We loved the irish dancers and overall we look forward to a return visit, maybe an overnight getaway."

"Fish and chips, reuben, shepherd's pie are the meals we ordered. All wer excellent. The pub is so Irish it's hard to believe you're on the Illnois/Iowa/Wisconsin corner of the Midwest Server did an excellent job with food recommendations and was super friendly. This is a don't miss place. Although we have never stayed at the connected Inn, some folks in the pub said it was lovely and they never stay anywhere else. This is a good stop on Hwy 20, just east of Galena. We'll be back."

"Very good experience. The service was very good and very attentive. We had salmon and the strawberry tall cake. Both were great. The capper of the evening was the live Friday entertainment, including young Irish dancers, followed by Irish folk music. I'd definitely go back next time I'm in Galena."

"Superior experience! The live entertainment and constant action makes this a hopping place. Irish dancers coupled with local Irish 2-piece band were spectacular. The ambiance is truly part of the experience. I've been to Ireland, and the ornate wood features make me think I'm visiting again. People are very friendly, which added to the experience. Great service, great food, great price. I give it 5 stars."

"Overall it was a great evening! We learned from the last time to make reservations. We wish we had been given better seating. We thought it odd that they kept seating people far from the stage where the sound was not nearly as good. It was nearly impossible for us to understand those on stage. The food was perfect."
