Stella's Fish Cafe & Prestige Oyster Bar is a casual seafood restaurant located in the heart of Uptown's bussling neighborhood.
Specializing in accessibly priced super fresh fish & oysters, chef specialties, pastas and steaks, Stella's serves it all up in a warm & lively setting, devoid of pretension or snootiness. Stella's presents "Lobster Lover's Sundays" with 1 1/4lb. lobsters for only $19.95 and a Friday "Oyster Orgy" Happy Hour with $1 oysters, $5.25 appetizers and 2:1 tap beer, house wine and single pour rail cocktails!

"The rooftop patio is lovely and weather cooperated. The Totten Inlet oysters were fresh and very tasty. I was disappointed in my initial sandwich order but they allowed me to substitute more oysters. Our server was very good but quite busy. My husband's burger was very good and he is tough to please."

"We went on Mother's Day and thought we would try it because of reputation of outdoor rooftop cafe. However weather too cold so stayed on ground floor. Fish tacos were superb! Regular finish entrees too pricey."

"We attended the Mother's Day Brunch. There's a large sign in the lower seating level about hygeine always being first or something to that effect. Right under the sign, there was an omelette station that was, unfortunately, having the ham refilled by a worker using his bare hands to scoop the ham into the bowl that the chef was pulling from for the omelettes. Not appetizing and not compliant with health code I would think. It made me wonder what else was going on in the kitchen."

"I ordered the swordfish and it was excellent. The service on the other hand was horrible! We sat with empty glasses for our entire meal. Our server didnt drop off our food, and once the food was dropped off, we didnt see the server until way after our food was gone. We would have like more wine and water with our meal, but never had a opportunity to order it. We sat on the rooftop and it was wonderful. The table was great, the heat lamps were on, which helped as it was about 60 out that night. Everything was good, but the service was HORRIBLE! We had planned on staying for a few after dinner drinks, but after our server neglected to refill our beverages or check back with us, we decided to go take our buisness elsewhere."

"Food was delicious. The parmesan halibut was delicious. We were seated on the second floor and the air vents blow COLD air down on you and it was a very cool day outside. Not sure why they didn't have on the heat. Don't like an uncomfortable temperature while paying to eat out. Otherwise a good meal."

"Oyster happy hour? Takes a half hour to get a dozen--and you can only order one dozen at a time! Several oysters were bad. Lobster dinner was fine. Service was awful. The first THREE checks brought to us were either for another table or were just plain wrong. 4 attempts to get an accurate bill? Ridiculous. Not going back."

"Great food as always - some of the best swordfish I have had in a long time. But the restaurant is just too noisy, Yes it was Saturday evening and there was a very loud party at the bar, but I wonder if Stella's can put up some panels to absorb some of the sound or close off half the second floor to create a space for diners who love the food, want some atmosphere, but also want to be able to talk to their friends without shouting. I'd visit more often but its always harder to get downtown on a weekday."

"One word: LOUD. Looking forward to a nice dinner with my wife...this wasn't the place. The happy-hour crowd noise spilled upstairs to our table. Hard to have a conversation without yelling. Server was nice and attentive. Shrimp was overcooked. Wouldn't recommend going on a Friday at 6:30 unless you're partying with your buddies."

"Our reservations were made for 8:15pm. I was warned that if we were 15+ minutes late, our reservation would be cancelled. Over 80% of our party was present at 8pm and we notified the hostesses that we were there. She said they were running 15-20 minutes late. We waited for almost an hour in the bar area for our table to be ready. We weren't seated until after 9pm.
We were able to order drinks and food relatively quickly once we were seated. However, our food took over an hour to arrive, and in some cases, over 90 minutes (for the sushi). The food was phenomenal, but some of our party didn't eat until 10:30pm, well after others in the party had finished. Our experience wasn't over until 11pm, 3 hours after arriving."

"This was my first visit to Stella's; overall very good -- one less-then-stellar entree away from being a five-star rating. Server was very friendly and attentive -- so we settle in for a leisurely nite. Appetizers were all great: Mussels and calimari were tasty, and the fish tacos were fabulous! Highly recommended. Entrees: Ocho sushi, Jambalaya, and Walleye fish-n-chips were all given high marks by my friends. Lobster pasta was raved about. My entree, the Parmesean Halibut, was simply OK. The outside was flaky and tasty, the centre was off, hard to describe, like charcoal starter almost. Could not eat. Maybe from the grilled asparagus it was sitting on. Garlic potatoes very good. However, not something I would order again."

My only dissapointment was that I made a reservation, specifically requesting a rooftop table, and it was not until I arrived at the restaurant that I was told that the reservations don't apply to the rooftop, and that they would put my name on the list, but that there were 30 parties ahead of me."

"Between the four of us, we had four different dishes: walleye, fish and chips, jambalaya and something else..? The walleye and fish were okay, good but not great. My jambalaya was delicious! My friend's dish was spicy and deemed "more adventurous" was very good too. They also split a martini in two smaller glasses when we wanted 1/2 a second drink which was very nice!"

"Our servers were attentive and accomodating. Our food was prepared well and portions were ample. This was in direct contrast to an earlier experience with poorly prepared lobster. We gave Stellas a try again because of a Groupon and were pleased."

"we went on a monday night for anniversary and took the kids from 17 to 4 years in age. great waiter and menu items for the whole group. General manager from chicgao and I had the chance to discuss how this reminded us of a good chicago Lincoln Park restaurant, but better with rooftop."

"First visit and a bit dissapointing. Made reservation got table in VERY high traffic area. My chair was bumped no less than five times - at least three by the wait staff - never an apology. Food took approx 40-45 minutes to arrive - didn't order anything extraordinary. Food was great once it arrived."

"Stells is part of the nice variety of food options in the twin cities. The food is good but not great. Frankly, it's a little expensive for what it offers. In the summer, the outside dinning is a welcome option. Otherwise, you can do better and spend less."

"My wife and I had the lobster bake and it was good but definitely not great. Bread was mediocre, not very fresh, though I liked the seasoned butter. Salads were good, but entrees were served before we were finished with salads. Lobster's had thick shells, which provides better flavor, but they were slightly overcooked and dry. The "sides" included potatoes, shrimp, and mussels in a thick tomato sauce and were good, not great. Nothing in this meal tasted particularly fresh, excluding baked lobster which was simply overcooked.
Service was friendly and okay, not really great. Tthe wine that came with the meal, we chose a Stella Pinot Grigio, was okay, a very light PG that goes for $7-8 at retail. Overall better than Red Lobster, but not great"

"Went for the lobster bake for the first time. Broth, veg, mussels were good. Lobster was rubbery and tough - could hardly cut it with a knife. Also, I found the salad to be a little over-dressed and the creme brulee had a slightly grainy texture. Disappointed this time."

"The special I ordered was accompanied by sweet potatoes which the waiter knew were gone when he placed my order. He recommended a different special which was absolutely amazing. Often waiters recommend things to get rid of them, but this time when he said, "It's the best thing on the menu tonight," he was absolutely correct! Our table was ready shortly after our arrival and we didn't have to wait long at all for our food.
The only downside was how COLD it was. There was a constant draft on our table which made the ambiance less enjoyable."
