Regalito is a small Mexican restaurant committed to bringing the "market foods" of Mexico to San Francisco. The dining experience is immediate, the food is fresh, the preparation visible, and the service friendly.
The idea for the restaurant was born during a meal at a Mexico City market stall; three women cooked from a small menu for a dozen customers sitting on benches surrounding the makeshift kitchen. No steam tables, minimal separation between cook and diner – instant community.
Regalito has been designed to encourage community between the kitchen and our guests. The kitchen is completely open, separated by a simple wooden diner counter.
Regalito offers free-range rotisserie chicken and Niman Ranch meats for eat-in and take-out orders. We are committed to using organic, local, and sustainable foods whenever possible.
Regalito is the best place in San Francisco to eat authentic, hand made Mexican food.
"I once had a great mole poblano. Probably 30 years ago. Ever since then, I have ordered mole poblano when I see it on menus: it has been a sort of quest. I have always been disappointed -- until Regalito Rosticeria. Best mole poblano ever! Also wonderful cactus soup. And flan. Friendly staff, pleasant outdoor common table. Sweet place."

"The outstanding quality of Regalito Rosticeria is that their food is truly authentic Mexican cuisine -- and very well prepared. What a welcome addition to the food scene in San Francisco! This is neither Cal-Mex nor Tex-Mex.
The restaurant serves beer and wine - no liquor. So "real" margaritas are not available -- a real shame as I would imagine that the principals are so focused on food quality and authenticity that "true" margaritas made from freshly squeezed limones mexicanos might finally arrive to SF.
Lamentably, Regalito is more expensive than anticipated, e.g., can of Diet Coke for $3.75 seemed a bit dear. Moreover, given the price to dine, one might expect at least a notch up on creature comforts (furniture, cloth napkins, etc.)."

"Very sweet people work there. Unfortunately the food was lacking flavor. I hope they change this because the service was excellent and they are very welcoming."

"The chicken mole was one of the best I've ever had. I loved the tostadas with the guacamole. Guacamole was delicious and fresh. I had the Sangria, and that was pretty good, wish it was stronger! ;-)"

"Been here a few times now and its been consistently good. How can you beat fresh tortillas made right before your eyes? Most recently, brought a Bay Area native who has been living abroad for the past year and who needed good Mexican food ASAP -- she was pleased indeed. Love the guacamole (perfect amount of lime!), the sangria is good, enchiladas are authentic and delicious but the conchinita is phenomenal! But be sure to leave room for the churros y chocolate!!!"

"Really good food and attentive service but they were definitely trying to move us out of there quickly. I'd recommend not going on a Friday or Saturday if you want a slow, leisurely, romantic dinner. If you're grabbing a nice dinner before hitting the Mission clubs, then this is perfect."

"I went here with a groupon. The food was really good, but I would not pay full price for the meal. I thought everything should have been $4-$5 dollars cheaper. However, I would buy another groupon here.
Warning: when they say spicy, they mean spicy."

"Only complaint we had is that the food was served just warm, could have been hotter in temperature. The staff was wonderful and helpful. It is a great casual place that has a great menu from various regions of Mexico. Menu is not extensive and changes to allow for quality taste than quantity menu. Can watch food prepared in open kitchen. A good experience at a reasonable price."
