Opened in 2006 by Chef/Owner James Campbell Caruso (three-time James Beard Award Nominee), La Boca is an intimate Spanish tapas restaurant in the heart of downtown Santa Fe. Influenced by his travels in Spain, Chef James cultivates synergies of authentic Spanish ingredients to create dishes both traditional and modern. Dishes such as thinly sliced tuna drizzled with blood orange aioli and topped with kalamata olives and smoked sea salt create a constellation of different flavors in every bite.
With the feel of a lively European wine bar, La Boca also features an extensive selection of carefully chosen mediterranean and South American wines. Knowledgeable and animated staff graciously guide customers to the perfect wine or sherry to complement their meals.

"The food at La Boca is good. But is it worth it? I'm not convinced. They charge for a glass of wine what the wine costs by the bottle. The price per bottle is some insane made up number. I think La Boca's target audience is wealthy retiree out of towners. So, unless you fit into that category, go for lunch or happy hour, otherwise skip it."

"I chose La Boca because we were looking for flamenco guitar music on a Monday night in Santa Fe to entertain an out of state guest. The Santa Fe Reporter noted that La Boca would have live music starting at 7 pm, so that's when we made our reservation. I checked the restaurant's website to confirm that they would have live flamenco at 7 pm, and I told my guest we were set. Then we arrived and had to wait for a table despite our reservation and there was not any guitar or any music at all... We would have been happy with a substitute musician since we had promised live music. Bummer.
However, the food was great and we came home thinking about eating more tapas. We all agreed that the artichoke tapa was by far the best. Order it!"

"What a great find in Santa Fe! Excited to hear other diners discussing the buzz about this restaurant in town. The sausage and duck we absolutely amazing. Solid blood orange sangria and patatas bravas. We really enjoyed our meal and felt it was every bit worth the cost!"

"We have eaten at La Boca several times during trips to Santa Fe. This restaurant never disappoints. The thing here is the tapas. They are great. This time we had green olives, the cheese plate, tuna carpaccio and grilled artichokes with dessert of basque gateau. All excellent. Add in very good service (wait staff will help you with your choices) and a nice bottle of Albarino and it was a great evening. One cautionary note. This is an energetic and somewhat noisy restaurant so if you want quiet, fine dining this is not the place for you."

"We ate at La Boca our first night in Santa Fe. It was great! We had the Blood Orange Sangria and it was yummy. The small plates were very good. Especially the beef cheeks. The name put me off a bit but it was delicious. Our waiter, James, I think, was excellent. He led us through the menu and even recommended a tasty place for breakfast. We would all go back in a heartbeat."

"I went to La Boca with a group for lunch. The service was outstanding and the tapas and sangria were excellent. I was not impressed with the beet salad, so I think next time I will just stick with tapas. This restaurant is perfect for a group of 2-6 people, but I would not recommend it for large groups due to the size. This has become one of my favorite places near the Santa Fe plaza!"

expected outdoor seating but not sure why. The bar area is only about 4 stools which face the bartender and a wall; definitely not a place to hang out.
Service was very good although the server seemed in a rush, constantly. Yet it wasn't that busy.
We had numerous tapas and nearly all were excellent. The flat steak with a caramel sauce may be worth the trip all by themselves. The chicken on a skewer was kind of bland. The
hummus, eggplant and red pepper tapas platter was excellent. Papas bravas: papas great but the mayonnaise sauce got mixed reviews from us.
You see the chef and you can tell they are trying to make this a great dining experience"

"Our dinner at La Boca was excellent. My husband and I split the grilled artichokes with goat cheese, the steak with caramel sauce, and the paella. They were all so delicious that we purchased a cookbook that contained all of those recipes, hoping to recreate them at home. We enjoyed a delicious bottle of wine (on certain nights they are running a special of half off their wines priced $65 to $100). The service we received was also excellent. We will return on our next visit.."

"First time. We were warned about how loud the small room is on a Saturday evening. However, though packed like Spanish sardines, we thought the volume was mellow (7:30 - 9:00 pm). Ok, so the gazpacho salad at 11$ was NOT a good value. The beet salad at 12$ (really??? 12$ for beet salad??) while tasty was, again, NOT a good value. I think they are punishing those who are conventional. Anyway, the anchovies, again over priced, were tasty. The over priced sausage dish was tasty and the tacos were also but everything we had seemed to be $4 over priced. Can't argue the preparation but geeze...anyway the Pots de Creme was actually almost worth the 8.50$ and the wine (L.H.Malbec) was really good and good value at $10."

"Very good tapas, from old stand-bys like Gambas al ajillo to a novel bruschetta of wild mushrooms topped with a fried egg, the food was great. We had a wonderful chardonay from Argentina. Service was polished and helpful. The seating is fine; we were four and comfortable. Some of the deuces were a bit crowded. Would definitely return and highly recommend."

"With the tables being so close together, it is hard to enjoy a meal when a person comes in wearing way too much cologne or perfume. You can't even taste your food when the air is so full of yuck! Fortunately it didn't happen until we were almost finished with dinner. Wish we could have odor free places to eat."

"My husband and I are Santa Fe locals. The food here was outstanding, with flavors that would excite the taste buds, every time, each tapas, consistently. La Boca was a Top 2 for us. We last dined at La Boca in February 2013. The night's menu was predominately vegetarian and seafood options, being too light on meat choices for us "carnivores". The salad special tapas was overpowered with vinegar. The fried egg with chorizo and potatoes, had overcooked chorizo. The NM-ranched flat-iron steak was up to the 5-star status we are accustomed to. The desert was also up to the usual 5-stars. Santa Fe has many excellent choices for one's dining-out dollars, so, we won't be back to La Boca anytime soon. Sad."

"Our server was Alexandra, who was wonderful. Her recommendations on the food were spot on. We decided to have sherry (jerez) with our entrees and she helped us pick the right one for each dish. I have been here when it was much more busy and the servers were scrambling. This time the restaurant was about 2/3 full and service was attentive from all parties."

"Love La Boca! My hubby brought me here to celebrate my birthday, we have eaten here before, from the get go everything was impeccable The staff sent over two glasses of cava to start the celebration off with a bang! Our waitress, alas I can't remember her name, was kind,, informative, and prompt. The food from presentation the the very last bite was what you want...beautiful to look at and tastier to eat.
