"We were in town for a special, outdoor event with a large group. We were unable to dress as nicely as Tuscana West's ambience deserved, but the staff was friendly, warm and welcoming nonetheless. The food was delicious, and the service was quick. I would visit again in a heartbeat."

"I made reservations for this restaurant when I saw the sunset menu online. We arrive at the restaurant and got seated; they give us the regular menu. I had to ask for the sunset menu and when the waiter saw that we had the sunset menus in our hand, his personality completely changed (I’m talking in a negative aspect). That left a bad impression with me and my colleges. While I can recommend the food, I can't recommend the service."

"This was my first time dining at Tuscana West. I fell in love with the restaurant when I went on their website and the song O Mio Bambino Caro was playing. I have to say, I listened to it over and over again and cried each time:-). The ambiance at Tuscana West set the perfect backdrop to a perfect evening out with my parents and sister. The wait staff was friendly as well as the hostess. Will definitely dine there again."

"We were there for anniversary dinner, the place seemed nice as we walked in, I was excited to experience this restaurant because I've read pretty good reviews on it. It was Monday night, but the service was so slow. In empty restaurant we had to wave down to get server's attention. In addition, he never explained us the specials, it was no participation coming from him whatsoever. We had a steak and seafood stew, the food was bland, but eatable. Never coming back."

"Great Food and Service are one of the many reasons I frequent this restaurant. The veal chop is superb as well as many chicken, steak, seafood, and pasta dishes. "I throughly enjoyed my experience at Tuscana West. The food was amazing, the service was delightful and the decor is beautiful. Our food was piping hot. We took pictures and you could actually see the steam rising from the plates.There is something for everyone on the menu including amazing vegetarians (if you still eat fish/seafood) and perhaps options for even the pickiest eaters. Great location for a first date, or quiet drinks at the bar during the week. Located conveniently close to the Mc Phereson Square Metro. Vast variety of selections on the wine list. Be sure to try the almond cake. Its life changing! If you want to propose to your girlfriend, take her here!!!"

"I had never been to Tuscana West and understand it has been in business for over 20 years. I can understand why. It is a lovely restaurant with great food and wonderful, old-world service. "We found this near the hotel we stayed at in Washington. I had an excellent seafood ravioli, husband had salmon, daughter had pizza. All very well made. This particular night they also had some opera singers for entertainment. Too cold for outside but a big patio overlooking beautiful park will be wonderful in warm weather. Very good! "There appears to be a lot of mixed reviews regarding this restaurant, particularly regarding the service. We almost canceled our reservation but I am glad we didn't. Overall we had a very nice experience. The food was good and the service was excellent and appropriately attentive. Our visit was during the Cherry Blossom Festival week which is a very busy time of the year. Despite this our waiter did a very nice job. We also attended during a Sat opera night. Unlike a previous reviewer we enjoy opera and found this to be a delightful treat. For those that do not I suggest you avoid Sat as the performers certainly make themselves heard. As to the question of whether this restaurant is overpriced my only response is what in DC isn't?"

"The service was good. The food was mediocre. Our table had three dishes: the Sogliola Ripieno (sole stuffed with crab meat) was tasteless, the Calzone della Cassa (calzone with sausage and pancetta) contained only one small piece of sausage and the tomato sauce accompanying the calzone was bland, and while the Gnocchi ala Fornarnina was the best dish of the three we had, it was very heavy on the garlic. Finally, the opera singing during dinner was simply too loud. The singers all had lovely voices, but you could not carry on a conversation while they were singing."

"This is a place I try to frequent during my regular travel to DC. We were a party of 3 and did not order any alcohol. You would have thought we were committing a sin. Our table service was very below parr, and in fact had this been my first experience it would have been my last. Come on TW you are better than that!"

"I chose this restaurant after reading mostly good reviews online. There were 8 family members celebrating a family birthday. The service was terrible. We had to ask repeatedly for menus, forks, drinks, etc. The food was only fair. Some dishes OK, some so bland it was hard to imagine that any seasoning went into the food at all. After being asked for a dessert menu, the waiter (10 min. later) arrived with a dessert tray. He started to describe the items, stopped without a word, walked away, came back with one piece of cake with a candle in it, left again and, much later, came back with 5 forks. We were never asked about coffee or after dinner drinks or given the choice of other desserts for the rest of our party. A disappointment."

"Got there early for a 6:30 reservation and the place was packed! Plus, there were a lot of families with kids, not my scenario of choice when dining out. After drinks, my wife ordered the mussels and I had the pasta fagioli soup. The soup was good, but the portion of mussels was a bit on the small side compared to the many places where we have had them before. For entrees, my wife had the lambchops and I had a fresh pasta dish with mushrooms. Both of us enjoyed our selections very much.
If I had a complaint, it would be that the service is not very personal and can lack efficiency. English is not the first language of most of the wait staff, and sometimes things can get lost in the translation."

"Groupon did not say to present before ordering. One of four diners choose from the specials menu. When bill came was told could not use Groupon b/c you can't combine with other promotions. Usually promotions includes other coupons, etc., not the specials' menu. We worked it out so that the Groupon applied to the other 4 diners, but it should never have come to that. I Ricchi's recent Groupon made it clear to present at ordering. My salad with crispy salami was mostly radicchio and was quite bitter. Eggplant ravioli was rather bland. Food quality not as good as it used to be."

"Table location was great! Pasta with spinich was really good. Same for the pasta with lobster! Bread and olive oil bland. The only real negative of the evening was our server that seemed to have a bad evening? When we decided not to order wine with our dinner he collected up the wine list and one menu from the table and placed down on the bench seat next to my better half? Didn't come back to our table to see if we had any questions with the menu or were ready to order for about 20 minutes. During our meal, he received a low or no tip on an adjacent table and became vocally upset. Changed the mood of a few tables close including ours. Overall experience was OK, and would give Tuscana West one more try with a different waiter. Valet parking."

"From the very fresh and tasty Ceasar salad that is prepared in front of you to the amazing flavor of their raviolis. The free appetizer bread was a bit disappointing and although service was a little slow at the start, once the salad service began, everything was smooth. My $19 ravioli meal (chicken with veggies in herbs and butter sage sauce) was divine but only came with four on a plate. That's almost $5 per ravioli. Just saying. The panacotta dessert was dreamy. Best to not come hungry here and with a pocket full of cash. Overall a great experience not sure need repeating."

"Went for dinner on a Friday after work as my office is nearby and we were going to an 8 pm show at the Kennedy Center. The location being so close to McPherson Square made it easy to get on Metro after dinner to go to the Kennedy Center. My husband had veal and I had pasta. We both had salads and we got dessert as it was my birthday dinner. The service was attentive and the food delicious. We thought the portion size was just right. The piano player started when we were partially through our meals. After having walked past Tuscana West for years, I was glad that I finally went in to eat there. Would definitely go back."

"Went there for lunch in March, as we were staying right across the street at the Crowne Plaza. Service was good, and food was good (though the salad on the prix fixe menu didn't impress). It's a great place for a nice, well priced lunch."

"Tuscana West is a beautiful restaurant! Live piano player who is amazing and plays lots of recent top 40 hits. We walked past him and saw that he didn't even have sheet music! I was very impressed. The service was amazing. The guy who was coming back to refill our water glasses was there maybe every 15 minutes. My glass was not empty one time. The food was well cooked and very well presented. I definitely recommend you stick around for desserts as they were the best part of our meal! My husband tried the lobster bisque soup and said it was the most heavenly soup he had ever tasted. This place is wonderful for a nice romantic date with your significant other and a quick walk away from the Mcpherson Square Metro stop. Wonderful place!"

"This is a good option for a business or family group. The menu is varied. It is not steakhouse expensive. The decor is attractive. Service is professional. I have been when it was quiet, but usually has a buzz.
My complaint this time was the wine list: they were out of the $40 and $50 choices and the "specials" offered as replacements were in the $80 range."
