"The food is very good, the room is lovely and calm with a great city view, and the service is terrific. The restaurant may suffer from not being at street level so as to attract walk in traffic."

"I was not impressed by the entry layout, there is a host stand for the "cafe" and then another host stand for the restaurant area, but there was not a host standing at wither post to greet the guests at 5pm. I had made a reservation and had to go hunting for somone to seat me. The view was only from the 4th floor, I was under the impression that it was a more high up/better view of Boston than it actually was. Portion size was small for the price. The pictures on the website make the restaurant look larger than it actually is- it seemed stuffy and unwelcoming. Probably won't plan to go back."

"Even on a Saturday night the restaurant empties out early- when we got there at 7 there were maybe 10 tables seated. By 8pm there was only one other table seated in the restaurant. Good if you want a very quiet space for dinner. Otherwise a little depressing."

"Not a memorable experience. Although we were dressed to the 9's for the opera, we were seated at the edge of their sports bar area that has very tired looking beat up tables and chairs. Entre's were not interesting so we went with appetizers. Scallops looked great but were very bland tasting. Mussels were okay but I have had far better in most restaurants I have gone to . Flash fried calamari was good. Arugula salad was not really up to par with good ones I have had in other restaurants -- dressing was blah and it was pretty much a plate of just arugula and nothing else.
Would not recommend this restaurant. You can do far better elsewhere."

"Exceptional ambiance (dramatic views of Theater District through huge windows)with nicely spaced tables and excellent service are seriously marred by sub-par food. A party of four agreed that all four entrees were overcooked. Flavors were bland to non-existent. The location is wonderful for theater goers but the food is ordinary at best and significantly overpriced."

"The best thing about Blu is that it is perfect if you are going to the theater, especially the Opera House. The food is decent, not spectacular, but good. Service was very good. I doubt I would make this again just for the dining experince."

"My daughter had the burger which was delicious with as she put it the most amazing fries. I got the lasagna and that was delicious as well. We were going to the Opera House after and it was a fantastic view and memorable for both of us."

"Nothing like the smell of chlorine and sweat while you are dining. Went early before a show, so not many people in the restaurant at the time. Food came out cold, twice. They took it off the bill. Chocolate mousse cake for dessert - extremely small for $9, and cake part was chokingly dry. The only saving grace was the view out the windows."

"Nothing like dining at Blu then off to the theater! Blu's easy access directly from the parking garage, sweet views of the theater district, and incredible menu make it a perfect place to dine (or wine). Bravo!"

"WE FULLY ENJOYED OUR FIRST DINING EXPERIENCE AT BLU. THE ATMOSPHERE WAS INVITING AND RELAXING. ALTHOUGH WELL ATTENDED, THE ROOM WAS QUIET ENOUGH TO HAVE CONVERSATION. SERVICE WAS PROMPT AND PRESENT BUT NOT OVERBEARING AND THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS WELL-PRESENTED AND WELL PORTION. WE'LL DEFINITELY BE BACK!"

"Overall, just okay. The pear cocktail was yummy, halibut was okay---kind of bland and the sauce was really runny. The bread was old, the outer edge was so tough i could not eat it. The view was nice and very close to the Opera House, which was convenient. Service was mediocre."

"The polenta fries were very good. Though I'm a big fan of polenta generally so take that as you will. The endive and beet salad was a disappointment. I found the beets undercooked and the amount of ricotta cheese excessive. My entree, a pan roasted chicken breast on a bed of artichoke risotto was quite cook.
The blue lighting gave an odd look to some of the food.
There's potential here but a lot of room for improvement."

"Blu is conveniently located and has a wonderful ambiance. The appetizer was fantastic, both the flatbread and the salad, but the main courses were not as good. I would go back and try other items off the regular menu, as opposed to the Restaurant Week menu, if only to see what other creations are available."

"Great dinner before the ballet. The server made sure we had a well-paced meal, without making us feel rushed, and we leisurely made our way to the theater. We were there during Restaurant Week and the three course meal options were varied and interesting."

"We've eatern there before, but the food quality had seemed to go down hill- We used to go outside of the restaurent weeks We wanted to give it another chance, perhaps we were too soon? The food was okay- nothing spectacular like it had been before My dc didn't even bother finishing his meal- AND he even left most of his dessert!!"

"There's a cafeteria adjacent to the restaurant with no real separation. It was loaded with kids being kids - a whole lot of noise. The service was great. Our waitress Elena was prompt, polite, and friendly. The flatbread appetizer with asparagus was excellent as was the chocolate tart with passion fruit caramel for dessert. My entree was a chicken dish that was cold and I don't recall what the menu said the side was, but I didn't like it."

"My husband and I went to Blu after seeing a show at the Colonial Theater. We chose it because the view on their web site looked beatiful. Well it didn't disappoint. The food was very good but a bit on the pricey side. The menu was limited. Would love to see more choices. We were out for a romantic dinner and this fit the bill. The kind of place you hit once in a while. The waiter was excellent and the whole staff was very attentive. I would highly recommend Blu and we would go again."

"The service was very good. Our waiter was very attentive. The food was tasty, but the presentation was below average. My wife had the trout that looked like frozen filets on top of mushed veggies. The dish had nice flavor just not very attractive. I had the lamb loin chip again very good flavor, cook perfectly, presentation again below average. We probably would not go there again."

"The bar was nice. Good bartender. Somehow they managed to give me cold, overcooked food. Explain that one... Will not go again. I don't mind spending the money for a good meal. This was not. The drinks were made well and the bartender was a nice guy."

"Selected Blu because of the close proximity to the Colonial Theatre, we walked right across the street. Dinner was great I had the cauliflower soup which was delicious so was my salmon entree with quinoa! The halibut entree and the shrimp with pasta was enjoyed by guests and they commented on the food that it very good, no left overs. Would dine here again. Our waiter was attentive and informative."

"A very nice surprise pre-theater dinner. The service was outstanding, and the food was wonderful both in presentation and quality. The menu contained a variety of dishes including lighter meals such as burgers. Service was not rushed, giving us time to relax. Today, restaurants are load and noisy, it was a welcome experience to actually hear each other speak. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinning experience and highly recommend Blu."

"I enjoyed dinner at Blu. The view was amazing and the food was excellent. However, when ordering our meals, my boyfriend and I were asked if we wanted the side salad. We said yes and asked if it came with the meals. Our waiter insisted it did and then charged us $12 each for the salads. When we asked him why we were charged for the salads he "didn't recall" saying they were included. I would go back there again because the food was good, but I will know better to not order the "side salad" that is "included" with the meal."
