"Very good, nice place to eat. A little on the loud side for me but not enough to drive me out. Food was very good and hot, service was better than most."

"Poor service out-weighs the food. Servers don't seemed to be adaquately trained - using neighbooring tables to balance items and pour drinks. A simple side of french fries were brought to the table cold."

"Oak Long Bar had the ambience of an old-style Men's Club which has its plusses and minuses. I had the roast chicken which was actually out of this world. It was my first time, so I don't know about the menu overall, but this dish was a home run. It's an expensive restaurant, probably worth what it charges for something like a business lunch or even a celebration. I probably will try it for dinner one of these days."

"I have been to the oak bar several times, and certainly the ambience can't be beat. Our server was wonderful - always attentive but not hovering. Our group was please with our entrees. We ordered a couple of desserts to share - the whoopie pie and the apple crisp. This is the second time I've had the whoopie pie there. Although it is impressive in its presentation, the cake part of the dessert seems to be consistently dry and tasteless. All of us left it virtually untouched after one bite. The apples in the apple crisp were not cooked enough and overall, it too had very little flavor. I'd say, overall, go for drinks and food, but skip dessert."

"I was excited to try brunch here. Been to the bar and liked it. Figured since it was part of a hotel and people have been chatting about this place it should be atleast tasty. OH NO IT WAS HORRIBLE. Service was unacceptable, the food tasted like I was in an airport lounge. AVOID, athought go after work for a drink."

"The new Oak Long Bar (formerly the Oak Bar) is vibrant, elegant and represents the new chic in the city of Boston. We drive up, the valet swiftly and professional opened the door for my date and secured my Jaguar. We enter the Long bar via St. James, were greeted by the maitre d and confidently walked to our reserved table. We were welcomed and called by name. Our waiter Javier was excellent. The service is calm and informed. Drinks, bread, and soup were really terrific. The Entree's was fine. We enjoyed every moment and will bring friends on our next night out. THANKS Long bar!"

"The "new look" of the restaurant is just beautiful! They did an amazing job combining the old world style with a contemporary look. It is a really fun, lively, sophisticated "hot spot" in Boston!"

"Was expecting more from the overall experience given the hotel it is in. I wouldn't recommend it for Sunday brunch. It's expensive and not special. They incorrectly call it brunch when it is really about serving lunch food beginning at 10 am along with a few egg items. Go the Henrietta's Table at the Charles Hotel if you want a great breakfast or a great brunch. Superb!"

"There is nothing special about Oak Long Bar, and there are many better choices near the hotel. The menu sounds wonderful but food was basic and bland. Waiter forgot what we ordered and had to ask again. Brunch was decent, but I wouldn't go back."

"I have been six times since the opening and am always disappointed with the service; hostess and bus boy. It took 20 minutes for our table to be ready. The restaurant wasn't that busy, AND the table was bare; only needing set-up. The person setting up was doing so as if he were wearing cement shoes; slow, slow. The food was very good, as were the cocktails. Our waiter was very good and accommodating. My favorite employee is Cheryl, who is always ready to help, accommodate and warm/friendly. She even remembers me by name. That's to be treasured."

"Too loud. too crowded. got elbowed in the head by people hanging out in the bar area. The menu, which was so wonderful before the restaurant was renovated and renamed was replaced by a very limited one. I wanted to walk out, but decided to give it a chance. Should have gone with my gut feeling. Never again."

"This is restaurant is very close to where we recently moved in Boston so we had high hopes it would become a regular haunt. Unfortunately, I am not sure I can ever convince my husband to try it again. The food was all delicious - the Oysters Rockefeller were probably the best I ever had and my husband's burger was wonderfully seasoned and perfectly cooked- but the wait for food was excruciating. We waited 20 minutes for the drinks, another 20 minutes thereafter for the one appetizer, and another 40 after that for the entrees (fish and a burger). Obviously we skipped the chance to order desert. Coupled with a very long wait to order initially, and for an uncomplicated meal, we were there for wover two hours."

"The scene is awesome. The place DEFINITELY lost a lot in the renovation from the old Oak Room to Oak Long Bar. Was formerly a historic, awesome slice of Old Boston. Now it's just another upscale hotel bar. But the service was awesome, the mixed drinks are excellent, and the bar is very cool. Unfortunately, the food lacked A LOT. The herb chicken was overcooked. The accompanying potatoes weren't very good, either. The seafood 'pot' dinner we had was much better, as was the mushroom flatbread. But overall I expected MUCH more for the price. Also, the Chateaubriand from the Oak Room menu is noticeably absent from the new menu."

"Only weird thing that happened was that the restaurant called saying we took the wrong slip and had to come back to settle the bill, eventhough they had the signed copy with the tip. This is so bizarre after working in a restaurant and knowing that patrons take the "store copy" all of the time. They literally called me three times and needed my friend who paid to either come back in or call a manager to settle the bill. So odd and kind of a hassle."

"This place is a great bar scene. If you liked to go to the Oak Room at the Fairmont Copley - go to OAK Long Bar + Kitchen for a drink to reminisce and move on. Very cool bar scene though."

"Love the decor, the food is quite good. Only reason why I hedged on rating the food was they seasoned my Tagliatelle with hot pepper (for the first time), which rendered it too spicy for me. But the food took a while to serve, and I did not want to revise order since it'd unnecessarily prolong the meal (kind of like my review).
Have been here several times, but service is spotty, especially considering it's affiliation with the Fairmont Hotel and that that implies. An earlier experience, my son was served a glass of water with 3 quarters in it. Gross. All the waitress + manager did were apologize. I had to push hard for a bill adjustment (comp a dessert). So I'm disappointed that they don't handle themselves at a higher standard."

"Food was good but needed a bit more flavor. Service: not quite sure who the waiter was or who exactly was serving us. A bit confusing and not particularly attentive. I went to this restaurant to ascertain if it was suitable for a company function: I'm not sure if they have the horse power for a big group."
