"I was recommended to dine here by a former resident of Boise. It is a large and newish looking restaurant and in the main dining room, far from intimate architecture. The waiter was very helpful and nice with the food and wine (we had a varied selection by the glass). I found the food was very good, but nothing stellar, and all of it priced too high for what it was. Even if the salmon was perfectly cooked, at $35 it was too much for what I got. I would go back here if I was with someone who insisted on it, but I would likely not dine here again."

"Cottonwood Grille is back!
After some disappointing meals some time ago, this trip with 3 friends was excellent. The food was delicious and expertly prepared, the proportions were generous and the service was very good. (A little slow from the bar, but otherwise excellent). I had a special marlin encrusted with nuts with a light curry flavoring that was quite tasty. My date had the special surf & turf and was extremely pleased with his meal. My friend had the seafood pasta -- best she's ever had, she said."

"When I want to do something after church on Sunday, I first think of the Cottonwood Grille. It is out of the busy main areas of town, yet close in. It has lots of easy parking. It is near the Greenbelt, the 9th street bridge, and the Boise River, so it is lively but not noisy outside the patio area. I highly recommend their brunch menu which is diverse local foods and Pacific Northwest entrees."

"Ditched reservations at another place after hearing it wasn't such a good place. Got to Cottonwood a few minutes before my reservation amd had to wait to be seated, which wasn't a big deal. The staff was courteous, the food was awesome (gotta try thr Elk!), but the prices were a little steep for such a loud restaurant. I guess I thought that it would have been a little more formal, but that was my mistake. Overall, I was satisfied with Cottonwood and wouldn't hesistate to return for a special occassion."

"Even though it was Mothers Day, the restaurant was about 30% full (at 4pm). We were seated quickly. Our waiter showed up about 10 minutes later. We ordered at that point. When we were ordering he asked "Did you want a salad with that?" Some thought that that meant it was an extra charge (it wasn't) so they did not order a salad. After a half hour, I stopped him as he was passing by to ask if I would get my salad BEFORE my dinner. He said "they are making it now". When we got our salad, we were not given bread. When we finally got our dinner (one hour after we were seated) I asked if we usually got bread with the salad and dinner. He said "it's just now coming out of the oven". I spent $106 for four."

"It was crowded when we arrived at peak time on a Friday evening. And, sadly, our service was so inept that it detracted from the rest of our experience. I imagine that this is a lovely place for lunch especially when the weather permits use of the outdoor patio. The kitchen must also have been stressed at the time of our visit because there were many mistakes (not caught by our waiter upon delivery and he never stopped by to see if everything was ok). The food was decent but the prices were too high for such amateur service!"

"I neglected to inform our server that we needed to leave at a certain time to get to the Philharmonic. The room was filled with festive prom-goers. After our salad/soup course, I let him know, and he immediately got our food served and our (separate) checks delivered and processed.
Everything was delicious. I appreciated the staff constantly refilling our water glasses.
The only thing I would suggest is to have the server ask at the very beginning if the guests need to leave at a certain time. Our server on a previous occasion did that and we were able to get everything ordered & eaten, including dessert!"

"I am so sad in sending such a negative rating. The Cottonwood has been our go to Resturant for special Events sense it was opened with the wonderful Hilary. We have had 50the Wedding Parties, Receptions ,B-Days Anniversaries ect, Ect. April 13 my Birthday oof course we knew our Evening plans would include The Cottonwood. From the time we came in we noticed change . One of the Couches and the Wing back chairs were gone in the Bar, repaced by taables YUCK .it totally changed the atmosphere. The service was awful .No bread with our salad, we asked twice for it. no wine with our dinner , it came after!!! I ordered Sea Bass , terrible, tasted like it had been cook prior and then warmed up!!! my husband always favorite Salmon in a cage was awfu"

"The quality of the higher end dinner meals has gone down a bit. However, I think Cottonwood is a great lunch spot. My wife and I recently had a very nice lunch that included good food and reasonable lunch prices. My wife is gluten free and I would say that they have one of the better gluten free menus in town. She was very satisfied with her sandwich and salad. Overall I would say it is a very good lunch spot."

The bread pudding was to die for, the oysters were fresh and delicious, the clams and fry appetizer was delectable and the salad dressing was homemade and amazing. My only complaint would be my buffalo dish. It was a little tough and the veggies were drenched in butter. Overall, it was a great meal."

"This is not my first time at the Cottonwood Grille so I have come to expect better. It took much longer to even be noticed by a server than it should have and people seated after us were being served. At about 15 minutes, I commented to my wife that we must be invisible. To the restaurant's credit, someone, not a server noticed us and apologized. We were re-seated at a different table and then the service improved.
Caesar salad was a block of lettuce with pourable dressing. I used to get that at the defunct Longhorn Steakhouse and I expect better from the Cottonwood Grille where I expect a REAL Caesar salad. The entrées were good but initial service was so slow that we had to forgo desert in order to make our engagement."

"I found the ambiance amazing for brunch. I will definitely be returning especially when it's warm enough to sit outside. The food was good but the service was a little lacking. I believe our waiter was new or maybe just inexperienced but was slow to come around for service and although nice, not very personable. He seemed shy and unsure of himself. I expected more from our waiter based on the rating and popularity of the restaurant."

"The Cottonwood Grille is one of my favorites in Boise. I can always count on CG to be consistently excellent. The food is always excellent at CG, and the service is almost always top-notch. On this evening my date and I enjoyed what I thought was a very reasonably priced bottle of wine, as well as several delicious appetizers including oysters on the half shell and escargot. The flavors were outstanding. Their prices are on the upper end, but not as high as several other higher-end restaurants in Boise.
