"A wonderful long time local favorite here in Santa Fe. Il Piatto serves up wonderful Italian farmhouse foods with the flair of the Chef Matt! Everything is excellent and unique. All the food is fresh, all vegs, etc from the local farmers market and prepared to perfection.
treat yourself! Visit twice during a visit!! Once for dinner, and return another evening for the after 9PM specials.
An excellent location in town for a stroll before or after dinner. There are a few tables outside, and they are an excellent place for a wonderful lunch or coffee!"

"If you love the true Italian dishes this is the place to find them. Along with excellent service and ambience it is hard to beat Il Piatto. I live locally in Santa Fe and always love to bring visitors from out of town. The restaurant never fails to impress them."

"The most atrocious service I can remember in a restaurant. After we finished they attempted rushed us out the door & there were numerous tables available.The food is only fair, so I would not waste my time returning here."

"Il Piatto has always been very good. The menu has many regional specials as well as "old favorites". They add daily specials throughout the year. We have been there several times for lunch but his was the first time for dinner. The noise level can get a little loud as the restaurant fills up.
Our service was great. The 3 course special for both lunch and dinner is probably the best thing going in both Albuquerque and Santa Fe. The quality has not suffered since the expansion over a year ago. Highly recomended."

"My client and I ordered the scallop lunch special and special it was not. The only thing that stood out was the funky smell. I get scallops in the shell can be a bit fishy but these babies were just funky. My guest bit into on and almost lost it right there in front of me. I was so embarrassed to have selected a this spot. I wanted to treat my client to a nice lunch and all we got out of it was a bad taste in our mouths throughout the entire day! Do not select this restaurant if you want to impress!"

"We are part time residents, visiting Santa Fe three to four times per year. We make a point of dining at Il Piatto every time and have always really enjoyed our dining experience, which left us anxious to return. This visit was the first time we came away disappointed. The food and presentation were not up to the usual standard of excellence, although the service was still great.

"My wife and I had dinner here at 9:45 PM. Usually eating establishments that are open that late don't have the highest quality food, but this restaurant is an exception. The dishes were excellent, and so was the wine. The service was attentive, and the waitress was able to help my wife, who can't have gluten or dairy, pick her meal. We would definitely go here again."

"This is a great restaurant, with a great menu, great service, and good wines. This latter category, however, is why we don't come here very often. While their food prices are very reasonable, the wine prices are over the top. If they gave you a good pour in a proper (Riedel crystal) Burgundy wine glass (for reds), then their prices would be acceptable. (They use the smaller white-wine glasses for red Burgundy/Bordeaux wines But you get about a 5 oz. pour and they charge as though you were getting an 8-9 oz. pour. It's always been this way, and I'm sorry to see this hasn't changed. If it weren't for the wine pricing, this restaurant would be in my Top 3 list for Santa Fe."

"The food was delicious and the service was great until the end. We had to sit and wait for several minutes after our plates were cleared and we were obviously finished. We were pretty much ignored and finally had to ask another waiter to send our waitress with our bill. The manager hurried over and apologized but the wait was much too long in my opinion.
We also had a screaming baby next to us and that seemed totally inappropriate in this particular restaurant. It's not what I would call "family dining"."

"The food was excellent. What a treat to find calves tongue on the menu and find it extra delicious! The grilled calamari was superb as well as the chicken livers. But the zabaglione, aah the zabaglione was sinfully delicious!"

"The salad was pretty average, but the Pumpkin Ravioli was absolutely outstanding! All the food was fresh. The desserts were very nice. Our waiter forgot our order and had to come back about 20 minutes later and ask us for it again. Although it was busy, he seemed more preoccupied than I would have expected. But, because we so enjoyed the food, we would definitely return and recommend it to friends."

"Il Piatto is a fun little restaurant. The service was very attentive as we had the head waiter and his trainee. Was a little disappointed in the dessert - 5 bites of cheesecake for $9, good but not NY cheesecake. Apps, pasta, and entree were very well done and right sized for multiple tasting menu."

"The restaurant is very unassuming from the outside and although the interior is quite basic, the tables are well spaced. We were seated immediately and the drinks server came to the table almost at once. We took advantage of Restaurant Week to visit the restaurant and were very satisfied with both the quality, quantity, and display of food served. Each of the appetizers selected were delicious as were the entrees. The bread pudding dessert was "to die for", in my opinion. The wine selection was better than seen at some other restaurants and the service was prompt and courteous. Il Piatta will definitely be on my list of restaurants to re-visit when up in Santa"

"Took out of town guests and they loved it - as do we. I had a trout dish that was tender and flavorful. Others had pasta, tuna, and roast chicken, and raved about them all. Presentations were gorgeous. Waiter recommended a $60 wine on Valentine's weekend sale for $30. Everyone knows restaurant wines are overpriced, but this one was easily worth $60. Il Piatto is an easy stroll from the Plaza."

"This was our second visit to Il Piatto. The restaurant was Empty. When taken to a very small table, I inquired if we could possibly have a larger table for two. One would have thought I asked to purchase the restaurant. The hostess made us come up to her counter and wait 5 solid minutes while she went over the seating chart. Finally she took us to a nice table but had a very ugly attitude. The food was mediocre my chicken liver entree having only 3 miniscule livers on potatoes and eggplant. Was just not pleasant and for the price, very small portions. Sorry but we will not be back. Waiter never came back to table to see how we liked our appetizers or main course. Rush, Rush, Rush. There are too many fabulous restaurants in Santa Fe."

"Three of us each did the $32.50 Special and ordered 3 Entres and 6 Appetizers. The Waiter did a great job of explaining the Menu/Options and Wine List. Our food came out promptly but we were not rushed. All 9 items were simply amazing. Highly recommend the Pappardelle with Braised Duck, Red Chile Linguine, and Gnochi. The duck liver crostini and calves tongue appetizers were delicious as well. Highly Recommend this Restaurant!"

"We went early enough to take advantage of happy hour and it was like they resented we made reservations to take advantage of this feature.
The hostess was nice. The waitress seemed distracted and almost slow to eat up time until happy hour would be past.
The discounted happy hour wine options were very limited
The food was very odd recipes for some of the appetizers - duck crostinis had too much variety of options on them that made them too rich. The mussels sauce was just very complex as well
While we were still drinking at the table, the manager seemed to be stalking by our table and we didnt see a lot of people waiting.
So we moved to the bar and had another drink. Gayland, the Bar tender was curt, and almost rude."

"Dinner was fantastic, though we were puzzled by a problem we encountered with the waiter. After being seated, we requested separate checks as I was on an expense account, but my dinner companion was not. The waiter told us that separate checks were not possible (?) but that it would be no problem when it was time to pay the bill. When it WAS time to pay the check, suddenly it became a complicated issue and the waiter seemed irritated and grumbled to the bartender at having to do some simple math. The food was terrific, but the service was not - and a little confusing."
