Jean-Georges opened in 1997 to critical acclaim. The jewel of Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s empire, the restaurant offers the very best in fine dining. Consistently awarded four stars by the New York Times and three Michelin stars, Jean-Georges presents exquisitely crafted dishes blending French, American, and Asian influences. Chef Jean-Georges is a master at maintaining the essence of ingredients while using them inventively to produce the best flavor. Jean-Georges’ chic and intimate dining room was redesigned by Thomas Juul-Hansen, with striking lighting by L’Observatoire. Impeccable service, tableside preparations, and floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning views of Central Park and Columbus Circle all contribute to an unforgettable dining experience. Jean-Georges offers a three-course prix-fixe menu and two six-course tasting menus: a traditional tasting of the chef’s signature dishes, and a seasonal tasting featuring fresh market ingredients.
"It is my third time at jean Georges And i will return as many times as God permits. The food was fantastic And very ligth, service was great And the dining room is elegant yet casual. It is worth eating here at least once in a liftime."

"Jean George's was, as usual, excellent. The spring tasting menu was perfect, but the thing that made it even better was the wine pairing. The dry Alsace Riesling with the scallop carpaccio was spectacular! This restaurant never fails to impress. The service is wonderful and the sommeliers knowledgeable and friendly.
One of the best NYC has to offer"

"Having booked a table for lunch, we were looking forward to something special. We both opted for a three course lunch from the a la carte menu with a wine pairing. Upon leaving we found ourselves feeling quite disappointed. In both starters and main courses we found that some of the ingrediants overpowered the rest of the dish. Having asked the waiter, we were told that the Chef liked to do an Asian fusion variety of the French cuisine. Thats all very well, but we both found the dishes to be very unbalanced. The visual presentation of the dishes also left a lot to be desired. After having made our remarks, the quality of service changed noticeably - for the worse. Sad."

"Expensive but worth it. Food quality and preparation were really great. Presentation was amazing. Comfortable seating; quiet; and very professional atmosphere. We had 8 PM theater tickets; sat down at 5:30 PM and when we started to "run late" (our own fault - enjoying the experience too much), our waiter suggested we go to the theater, enjoy the show, and then return for our desert!! We took his suggestion and it worked out great!! We were seated almost immediately upon our return and enjoyed the desert tremendously. This is an outstanding choice for a special occasion. Fine dining in NYC is always very expensive - Jean George's is different in that it is worth it!!!"

"Very much disappointed with the goings-on at this restaurant. We ordered the 6 course lunch menu, expecting to be there for at least a couple of hours. In the end we were out of there in two hours. We found the service level in general and the pacing of the courses below Michelin standards. In our opinion the food is overall too spicy (esp. the arctic char.) We have never encountered this in European Michelin restaurants. This is not refined cuisine. SO, European foodies beware! This is not the place for a long relaxed lunch or dinner. Be prepared for extremely quick service and mediocre food. We seriously doubt the three star Michelin status of this restaurant. To put it in Michelin code: this is one restaurant NOT WORTH THE JOURNEY !"

"I was a first time diner at Jean Georges and was looking forward to the evening. It was an overall good experience but perhaps my expectations were not met. The service was a bit slow. I thought the waiter would be more attentive and it was hard to get his attention to get the bill. There was also a bit too much time between courses. The other thing that was disturbing was there was a rowdy group at a nearby table drinking heavily. We told the staff but they didn't do anything about it but rather laughed it off. Perhaps my expectations were a bit high but with their rating and prices you expect perfection. Thank you."

"Not what it used to be and riding on its past reputation. Extremely salty preparations make me ask what the kitchen is hiding? Distracted service. Even the "signature" dishes were dull and uninspired in the preparation. The squab was tough and practically inedible. The restaurant is more of a "scene" now and less a destination for inspired cuisine."

"A memorable Mother's Day. Everything ordered was excellent, except the sea urchin. Something about the yuzu that neither my son nor I liked, but I was offered an alternative. Our server, was attentive, knowledgeable, and most professional. My only criticism, frankly, was that t was too much to eat at one sitting. We were all quite "stuffed" by the third course - and then there was dessert. It might have been all the more pleasing to have had smaller portions and somewhat of a smaller prix fixe, in proportion. Regardless, Jean Georges deserves its Relais & Châteaux standing and recognition as one of New York's finer gourmet restaurants. I would return."

"We brought friends visiting from San Francisco to Jean Georges. All four of us thought it was the perfect place for our celebratory reunion. Unlike other NYC restaurants, we could hear each other perfectly. We enjoyed the comfortable seating, solicitous waiters and waitresses, lovely presentations of interesting food combinations, never felt rushed. The prix fixe lunch has a great menu. All four of us plan to return."

"The price has, unfortunately, increased almost 35% from $28 for 2 plates & $14 each additional plate to $38 and $19 respectively, but you are still stealing from them in broad daylight, given the level of food, the amuse bouche and petit fours and the incredible service.
I recommend - as the weather gets better and better - coming early as we did and having a glass of wine outside before enjoying your lunch. I wouldn't trade outdoor lunch at Nougatine for the incredible experience that is Jean Georges, but a glass of white or Rose on the wicker chairs near the door is worth the detour.
Be careful, as the excellent wine list is not big on value."

"JG is as good as advertised. I often go & eat at the bar in Nougatine. I have not eaten in the formal dining room for several years. This past Sunday we hosted a couple in from LA. The food was fantastic & worthy of its lofty reputation and price. It was a 3 hour hour experience and it was as good as it gets. I dine out very often in NYC & travel for business. There has been a lot of chatter about celebrity chefs. JG is a case where the chef became a celebrity. He is there almost every time I am in Nougatine actually working/running the business. The prices are preset and with four people the tab runs up pretty quickly (my friends did not drink). We did not bat an eyelash at the near $700 bill...it was worth every penny."

"Went of the lunch time deal after a very strong recommendation form colleagues. Pretty impressed food was innovative and very delicious a few mistakes were handled very well by the servers. Excellent wine list. Not sure it would be worth it for diner if I'm honest -- I've eaten at better 2 stared places in EU, very good but not perfection and franklye for the cost and reputation I should have left crying tears of joy - and I wasnt quite there"

"A perfect selection for a late afternoon lunch, especially for special occasion because the staff is extremely accommodating with the menu, wine list, and even provide tons of extras (champagne and decadent cake for a birthday; hand made treats from the chef pre-meal,) to make the experience unforgettable. While not my first time at this location, it was my favorite and I will definitely return for other special occasions ans events."

"Lived up to its reputation. An extra points for perfect service compared to some of its ego-chef-driven rival fine dining restaurants. The tasting menus were wonderful and they accomodated a few special requests without hesitation. The only downside is that there are no seats available at the bar for a drink since it it used by many who are actually dining at the bar."

"I took my mother to a special lunch at Jean Georges and the experience was everything I hoped it would be. The service was very attentive and helpful, the staff was a joy. And the food, a heavenly experience. My favorite was the soft shell crab, so delicate and flavorful. Every course in fact, was a marvel of presentation and a joy to taste."

"Me and my fiancé went there for lunch, maybe for dinner they improve(?) The food at the JG was nothing special. No surprises by the kitchen at all. When we are talking about 3-Michelin-Star, we are talking about high expectations and exceptional food, like at Daniel Boulud or Paul Bocuse - outstanding kitchen. The JG doesn't play in the liga of a 2or3-Star-Restaurant at all. The Riesling was good, even when it wasn't "very dry", but sweet like a dessert wine. (No sommelier) The marshmallow at the end was not more special than in a delicate supermarket. Also not sure if you wanne let your guest leave with that flavour, specially not those who are used to get at least sth like a foie-gras-iced white choclate lolly or sth special like that."

"Went for lunch and had 2 courses and dessert. First course was the Foie Gras Parfait which was amazing! Think salted caramel and dried cherry foie gras heaven. Second course was a beef tenderloin with crispy potatoes. Again, the beef was cooked perfectly and the potatoes were perfectly crisp. Went for the Caramel for dessert which was fantastic! One note is that there was and Argentinian White Wine for $9 a glass that was delicious! Can't wait to get back on our next visit to NYC!"

"I have eaten at Jean Georges every year for the last 5 years. It's one of the rare restaurants where I keep going back (with my own dime) since I think the food is really good, experience is great, but the price is not overwhelming. Until last night...the food overall was spicy (felt more like I was at Spice Market) and there were guests that were smoking! The quality of the food was still very high, but needless to say I was a little heartbroken."

After the dessert, nobody asked us "coffee or tea?" and brought the check sheet right away.I was wondring about that. Because I would like to drink some of tea. But it is OK,it is not big problem. "Our trip to New York brought us to the 2 Michelin restaurants one was Aureole(*) and the other was Jean Georges(***).
We arrived 10 minutes before our dinner reservations and were directed to the bar. 10 minutes later came our waiter and showed us to our table. A good table in a nice decorated room. We ordered a drink so we had time to decide what we wanted to eat. The choice fell on the spring menu, $ 198 and wine menu for $ 138. I'm interested in wine and wanted to know what wine we would taste, after a couple of waiters explained that we were given champagne??, white wine X 3?? and so on but no information about the wine makers. After 5 min the sommelier came to our table and explained the wine producers we would get to taste, THANKS"
