Perla's Seafood and Oyster Bar
Perlas Seafood and Oyster Bar features classic American seafood with an emphasis on fresh local products, simple preparation, attention to detail and clean presentation. Classic coastal cooking from the Texas Gulf to the Northeastern Seaboard influences Perlas menu. We procure the freshest oysters from small harvesters around North America and serve cold seafood platters featuring super fresh daily specials.
Perlas has a fully stocked bar featuring cocktails crafted by Ben Craven and wines selected by Steven Ridge. We feature clever seasonal cocktails and riffs on the classics as well as a wine list heavy on White, Rose, and Sparkling selections. The bar also offers a daily frozen concoction as well as daily cocktail specials. We offer a variety of can and bottle beer with a focus on patio friendly brands & styles. We offer 4 beers on tap in 3 sizes: 16oz Pint, 21oz Schooner, and 64oz Pitcher.

"Made reservations..they were ready when we arrived. We had an option to sit outside...we did within 15 minutes. Dined on a Wednesday. They were out of grouper so I had an alternative fish that was just as good. A little pricey, but not too bad. Food was good. Oysters were perfect."

"We've been fans of Perla's since it opened and it never disappoints. Staff is well-trained and knowledgeable and will offer an educated opinion (on which of the rose wines was the driest or which vegetable side was the tastiest, for example). The oysters were fresh and delicious and the Brussels sprouts are the best around. We will definitely be back - soon!"

"Hoping to get a spot on their patio, we were informed that the wait was over an hour despite having a reservation with a request in the notes....and despite that there were several open tables available when we checked in.
The inside ambiance was still cozy, and we enjoyed people watching the Austin locals as we were visiting from out of town.
The service was slightly slower than desired and the food was mediocre at best. We waited at least 15 minutes for our drinks from the bar but the food appeared less than 9 minutes after we ordered it, making for a slightly rushed feeling brunch."

"With a hearing-challenged husband we asked for a table away from the kitchen, which we received. There was good energy in the dining room, yet we were still able to hear each other reasonably well. Our waiter was very knowledgeable, and we shared delicious St. Simone oysters and a very good crab cake (the bed of caramelized endive was the perfect accent.) Swordfish and bouillabaisse were both excellent.
The only negative was the constant bumping my husband's chair received; with the many waiters, servers, bus staff and supervisors (who provided good service,) there was much traffic around the table. He pulled in as closely as possibly but he was still "in the way" and unfortunately it became an annoyance."

"Perla's was a great experience. We arrived with a large group of 8 +1 baby. We made reservations in advance and were given a table near the kitchen. We came to Perla's because we had seen it on Anthony Bourdain's 'No Reservations.' We are from Oregon and love oysters. The server suggested we get two dozen oysters and he would hand pick them for us according to what was good that day. We agreed. The oysters were delicious! Loved the vinegar, cocktail sauce, and horse radish. I've never had oysters with horse radish before. It was a nice touch! We only ordered appetizers, but everything we ordered was tasty. The calimari had an amazing crust and tasted quite fresh. The tuna salad was seasoned well. My only issue would be price."

"I personally do not eat seafood, but the remainder of my party did. They said the oysters were fantastic, and the entrees were good also. The dessert was my favorite part, I got the salted butterscotch pot de creme. Our server was a little hard to track down at times, but overall did a good job."

"What can I say about Perla's besides amazing. Everything from the appetizer to dessert is fantastic! Their signature drinks are also really tasty. There is a great patio to sit on and the service was outstanding. All the fish are flown in fresh each day and the menu changes accordingly."

"I've been to Perla's several times but this was a first during SXSW. I have never seen Perla's that busy but they had our table waiting for us upon on our arrival, our waiter was attentive and the food was amazing! I highly recommend the oysters and BBQ shrimp."

"Perlas has great ambiance, you always get a good feeling being there. The food is consistently top rated. I usually order some baked whole fish. Even if the bones are tricky, the flavor is worth it. One disappointment was they only had two glasses left of any full bodied chardonnay. Seriously, how can they run out of a popular wine?"

"Went there for brunch - fantastic fresh seafood. Shrimp cocktail and fried oysters to start - fresh shrimp with a nice spicy cocktail sauce and a nice heaping pile of fresh fried oysters with a remoulade dipping sauce - perfectly crunchy on the outside and briny on the inside. Entrees: brioche French toast and the lobster roll. The brioche French toast was fantastic - a large golden brown brick of a piece piled on top of a mound of fresh berries with maple syrup and a scoop of coconut sorbet - decadent, but really delicious! The lobster roll was something a New Englander would be proud of calling their own - large chunks of fresh lobster meat with a whole claw sitting on top, with a nice, fresh brioche bun. Friendly service, too!"

"The great food made up for a lousy table, just adequate service, and noisy room. The table was just unlucky, right in the walkway from the kitchen to the dining room, with many servers and other diners hitting my husband's chair as they walked past. We had to wait for our server to come to our table to get our drink orders and then waited too long for the drinks to arrive. That being said, the absolutely delicious halibut with risotto and fabulous dessert made up for these deficiencies. Would recommend it as a great place for seafood, just be prepared for the noise and slow service."

"I took a friend to Perla's for lunch. Parking was a nightmare, especially getting out of the garage. Some renovations were being done which did not make the entrance very inviting. Already having studied the menu, I thought the selections very pricy for lunch. I ordered the scallops and grits
while, my friend ordered the bouillabaisse. The scallops were huge but I felt they needed a few seconds more on the grill as a couple had a cold spot And a couple seemed a little gritty. The grits were tasty and different but I would have preferred more of a Cajun spice. My friend said her bouillabaisse was great, but for the price it should have been. Service was beyond excellent. Our waiter was attentive but not obtrusive."

"I expected a better overall experience based on menu pricing. Our waiter was inexperienced but friendly. The atmosphere was more bar like than restaurant like…hence the name I suppose. I was hoping for a romantic restaurant feel. We had half a dozen oysters and they were fabulous although my only experience with oyster is bay ones from around Victoria, Texas. The Mia Tia was very good but $11. The ceviche was good and worth the price. The monk fish was good. It was prepared simply because that what I ordered although, I should have ordered one of the chef’s dishes; it would probably been more enjoyable. The butterscotch desert was very good. Probably won’t go back soon, we’ll try other oyster bars instead. Friday's downtown traffic was bad."

"We visited Perla's on Valentine's Day for a special dinner. While the meal, the staff, and the setting were exceptional - the entire evening was very uncomfortable due to the excessive low temperature (inside) the restaurant. We mentioned to our waiter that we were very uncomfortable with the coldness of the room. He smiled and said he agreed! we actually looked forward to the coffee we ordered with dessert in order to warm our hands! Seriously? As an aside, we were also quite surprised to see that we were charged $3.00 for each of our coffees! Wow!"
