"We had the best steak,lamb chops and dessert on Saturday may 11,2013 5 people dined here. The place is just perfect all over. It has a view of the ocean, service was wonderful manager came out to check on us ,making sure all was just right.
Lovely tank with unusual jelly fish so cool to watch them swim. Definitely will be back again for a special event. Also the hotel is beautiful inside especially the livingroom on the second floor lobby area great dim ambiance perfect for a drink.
Thank you all for a wonderful dinner experience.

"We celebrated our 5th year anniversary there. The staff was wonderful and made us feel like "it was all about us". Watching the blue ocean waves off in the distance and dining on sumptuous food can't be beat."

"Our food, service and celebration was wonderful. Lobster bisque was rich and creamy, the bronzino (a new fish for me) was prepared perfectly and served with salsify, a tasty root vegetable that was also new to me. Our table shared grilled asparagus and truffled potatoes gratin. The novel combinations of flavors were a delight, and artfully chosen. Although I ordered the ice-cream sampler for my dessert (chocolate rosemary among the trio), I also received a dense chocolate cupcake delivered on a plate with "happy birthday' scribed in chocolate sauce, courtesy of the restaurant.

And don't miss the moon jelly fish in their giant glowing aquarium -- calming, dancing beautifully, elegant."

"Lovely dinner on the balcony, excellent lobster, and the fancy fun cheese steak with champagne! Service was friendly not stuffy. The restaurant is lively and the balcony is more quiet. Really enjoyed the dinner and plan to go back again!"

"This is a typical Stephen Starr restaurant. Familiar things, created or presented with some unique touch.

The atmosphere - very Starr. The menu - steakhouse with an upscale feel. I started with the Caesar salad with white anchovies. Again, familiar with a unique touch. In this case, the white anchovies added an unpleasant fishy taste that this anchovy lover could do without. The wedge salad was more petite than your typical steakhouse wedge making it feel somewhat empty.

Steaks are unique - juicy, tender but not charred so it didn't have that intense flavor. Lamb Chops were good but no wow. Truffle potato - tasty but a bit dry.

All in all, good experience if you want steak with style. I prefer more standard steakhouses."

"Very romantic place for dinner. Low-lit, beautiful view of the ocean and nice ambiance inside. The only complaint about the atmosphere was it was quite loud inside.

The service at the host stand was poor. They were very distracted, kept allowing other guests to interrupt our seating process and took their time seating us. The service at our table was fantastic though. I had the best filet I've had in years. The only downside was they seem to load the butter on everything.

Afterwards, we enjoyed the nice lounging furniture that they had outside on their deck. It was the perfect way to end the night."

"This was the second time I've eaten at Steak 954. The first was on a business dinner and this time was with my girlfriend and my mother. We took my mom out for her birthday. The food the first time was excellent and this second visit confirmed it was not a fluke. The scallops are the best I've had, the miso black cod is unbelievable and the steaks are absolutely top notch. The service was also phenomenal. I really can't recommend this place enough. It's definitely on the higher end, pricing-wise, but for those special occasions where you're in the mood to splurge(or if price isn't a factor for you), Steak 954 is sure to be a winner."

"Food was excellent. Best steak I've ever had --except for my own cooking --
Had a NY strip and asked for it "Pittsburgh
Rare"... They actually did it right. Most restaurants
Claim to know how to cook it this way, but don't have a clue.

"If you can swallow the prices, this place has great food. The fries are to die for, and the steaks are amazing. The wait is unexplainable though. First, you are ushered into the bar. Then to sit next to the jellyfish aquarium. Then they take you to your table. And there are lots and lots of tables. I don't get it. So if you make a reservation for 8pm, expect to be seated around 8:30pm after you are staged at least once. Highly recommend eating outside."

"Highly enjoyable evening, the Kobe sliders and Bigeye tuna taco apps were perfect, the steaks cooked to perfection and if you don't order the bok choy, you're making a big mistake. "Food was blah. My steak was oversalted and overcooked. The guy at the next table sent his back because it was way undercooked. Bartenders were great in back. Service was ok. If you're going to spend 5 star money (we spent over $125/person), then head to another place."

"We had a fabulous waiter named Robert G. He was so polite, professional, and very passionate about the food at the restaurant. Ask to be seated outside if the weather is suitable. We had a gorgeous view of the ocean and it was very romantic. I had a wonderful steak tartar appetizer, which was especially good with their wonderful bread. I also had the tuna and foie gras tacos which were good, but a bit saltier than I remembered. They were still all eaten though! The food could be a bit better given the price, but the view and superb service made it a five star experience and well worth it!"

"Very good food at very high prices. The cherry brown cocktail I had was a well made bourbon drink (think a sweeter manhattan) but $14. The East coast oysters were well above average; the West coast oysters were good but not great. Snow crab claws were very tasty. I went with the Waygu ribeye. It was a very well seasoned and perfectly cooked steak but $85 for the premium name of the beef. I would have probably valued it closer to $70. The trio of ice cream sandwiches was an excellent desert. Service was attentive and friendly. It's a energetic but very loud venue. The noise level improved after 10:30 PM. In short, it's great food that's priced just slightly over where I would put it to get a five star review."

"I loved the jelly fish aquarium! The hostesses were all very nice, and the wait staff very attentive. I was staying at the W for a work conference, and ate here both nights! The truffle mac and cheese was too good to only eat once. The second night I had the NY strip steak, and it was one of the best steaks I have ever had!! And I loved sitting on the patio overlooking the beach. Would definitely come back next time I am in Fort Lauderdale."

"Amazing service and great food. Very nice spot on the breach.
We had one small problem but the staff went above and beyond and made dinner perfect.

"My husband and I had a terrific evening at Steak 954. We had heard terrific things and it surpassed our expectations- the food was terrific- amazing choices and our waiter, Aldo (I think!) was fantastic- so warm, nice, generous with his time - we stayed for over 3 hours - it was lovely! "Steak 954 is the place you compare each and every subsequent meal to - with none ever being as good. It was a friend's birthday and they went the extra mile with a complimentary dessert complete with "Happy Birthday" on the plate as well as allowing us to drop off gift bags in advance to have them ready on the table upon arrival. Our server was AMAZING and it will only be a short time until I'm back for another incredible meal."

"We went here for our anniversary. I can not say how great everything was. They greet us with well wishes & complimentary champagne. We had ask to sit outside, they gave us a table with a great view of the water. It is a little further up the strip from the noise & crowds, so was perfect. The service was attentive but not intrusive, we never felt rushed. We had the porterhouse steak for 2, it was excellent! I'm a steak lover so for me to say that is huge. I would definitely go back again."

"Service was outstanding. We started with the lobster bisque and the tuna/foie gras tacos. The bisque was perfect. If you're looking for a chunky bisque, this is not for you. The tacos were very good except that the foie gras really got lost in the taco. For the second taco, I pulled the foie gras off and ate it separately and it was perfectly seared and tasty. Next, we got the 18oz rib eye and the lamb chops. Both were excellent. The rib eye was probably about 2 inches thick and juicy throughout. The lamb chops were tasty and a good size. My wife only got through one. We got the mushrooms/onions and the cauliflower and both were well prepared accompaniments. Great experience."

"Our reservation was for 7:30 and we were seated promptly. The jellyfish aquarium is amazing. Lighting is very dim, and the restaurant is VERY loud! Our servers were prompt and professional. Always there when you need them without being obtrusive. My black cod was delicious, as was the roasted cauliflower we ordered. We also had the crispy bok choy which was tasty (not bitter as bok choy can sometimes be). My husband's filet was ordered medium rare and arrived what we considered rare, but it was quickly taken away and the replacement steak was perfect. He also had the homemade steak sauce which was very good. The chocolate dessert we ordered was yummy. We do not plan to go back because of the noise level."

"Waited an hour to be seated even with reservations. The kitchen could not get dinners out -- waited 40 minutes between appetizer and salad (canceled the salad). Our entre was awful -- nothing like the waiter had recommended. We went to celebrate our birthdays but instead got 1/2 of meal comped. Would have rather paid full price and had a night to remember."

"I had read the reviews before making my reservation and assumed people were turned off by the price of the dinner. I don't mind paying on the high end for a dining experience, especially for a special event, so long as the quality meets the price. I also expected that a steak house at a W Hotel would be worthy of it's brand. Unfortunately, the experience was not great. It was a chilly night in Fort Lauderdale and the gas lamps were very nice, keeping us warm and providing ambience outside. However, the steak was HORRIBLE. I am a medium/rare steak person, and it was dry, tough, no moisture or flavor. Absolutely horrible!! Spinach was barely edible. Service was okay, nothing great. I would not dine there again."
