An oasis in city dining, this downtown Seattle location is whimsical in nature and comfortable without being boring. Icon Grill's "aroused Americana" menu showcases the higher quality ingredients in a sophisticated yet simple manner.
"Discovered this gem earlier this year. I have been back several times for lunch and dinner and am always happy with the service. I decided to give their brunch a try on Mother's Day with my visiting sister and her husband. I was super excited to see they had GF (gluten free) options for my husband--which is always a challenge for us. The service was good/usual and the food was amazing. Really love this place. Parking can be a challenge/expensive if you're not familiar with downtown but that's par for the course for any restaurant in a busy downtown area like ours here in Seattle. This has become a favorite restaurant of mine."

"Overall I was very displeased with the Icon Grill--I made a reservation online at Open Table, and then followed up with a phone call to the restaurant to ensure that our Prime Card would work for Brunch/Mother's Day. I was told "yes, absolutely". I was pleased, as I know from previous experience that the Prime Card does not work at some locations on some holidays. So I was VERY dissapointed when our bill came and the waitress informed me that the Prime Card did not work on that particular Sunday (Mother's Day). The waitress was unwilling to talk to her manager or make any accommodations. FAIL-Not going back!"

"I brought my mother and daughter downtown for a special lunch instead of a restaurant closer to home the day before Mother's Day. For years my husband and I have come to the Icon for dinner and brought many people with us. Food and service has always been outstanding. The luncheon experience was less than I expected. The waitress was less than enthusiastic and it wasn't because she was busy, there were very few people in the restaurant at noontime. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am."

"This was our second time to icon, and I can say that we will be coming back again. The service is friendly, the decor is tasteful and original, and the dishes are both memorable and delicious. On my first visit I had the Hog-Wild Mac'nCheese, one of three variants on Mac 'n Cheese on their menu, and this time I had the Baja tacos. Each dish managed to stay true to the original American style, but added a surprising depth of flavor that is going to keep me coming back for more."

"Don't let the outside fool you, the Icon Grill is a really nice place to eat. With a menu that ranges from comfort food (4 cheese macaroni and fried chicken) to steaks and seafood, there is something for everyone. When we drive into Seattle for a special occasion, the Icon Grill is always on my list of reliably good restaurants."

"Set in a wonderful location - within walking distance of major hotels including Hotel Max, this lovely restaurant boasts home cooking with a special flare. First off - the macaroni and cheese is to die for. Everyone needs to try this. We also had the pulled pork sliders which were also delicious. The blown glass is a nice touch, but we felt they could have gone a bit more modern with the tables and other decor as opposed to small cottage-esque. The hostess was lovely and held the door for us on the way out. The server allowed our small table to be overcrowded with dishes for a little longer than necessary, but other than that, it's a wonderful place to dine."

"I've eaten at Icon Grill in their bar and lounge and have always been very happy. Their herbal martini is fantastic. My boyfriend and I decided to have dinner there this time and it was not very impressive. The starters were the best part. Mac and cheese bites, caesar salad and the asparagus salad all great. The entrees were just extraordinarily plain. My boyfriends ribeye was ordered medium and it seemed medium well - well done. Very dry and not seasoned. The broccoli seemed like it was steamed for 30 seconds and then not seasoned at all. My scallops were prepared well but the risotto was just pretty plain as well. Their wine list is just okay as well. I would come back, but only for the bar and lounge."

"My ratings only pertain to this specific dining experience. We were unfortunate to have a new waitress, who lacked the skills she needed to provide the service I'm used to getting at this restaurant. I went with the prime rib, but it wasn't cooked as well as I like it, so I only ate the outsides since those were the areas more done. In the end, our entire meal was comp'd, which was at least a $500 check.
In general, the atmosphere is upscale, but also casual. The food is amazing! I don't think anything on their menu is bad. Customer service is important in upscale restaurants such as this, and their service is always exceptional. This restaurant is fitting for any time of the day, and they also accommodate large groups, which is nice."

"The restaurant smelled like something was burning in the kitchen the whole time. The food was good, but not amazing. Our waitress was robotic and not very friendly. I was there a number of years ago and it was much better."

"Very friendly and prompt staff, good beer, wine, cocktail list. My friends had the primavera risotta, nice, but a bit bland. I had the Stuff Chicken Picata and substituted the rice with the corn/cilantro/mashed potatoes per the waiters recommendation. Portion size was spot on. Perfect for one meal and not overloaded. Chicken dish was pretty good, and the sauce was just the right amount of tangy. Let's just get to what matters...DESSERT! We all 3 split the hot fudge sundae and it was AMAZING! Best presentation ever and couldn't get enough of it, we licked that plate clean. They bring out the fudge in a cone, pour it over 3-4 scoops of ice cream and give you options of strawberries, whipped cream, candied almonds and m&ms! Delicous!"

"Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at this atmospheric restaurant. Delightful, vintage-looking ambience; excellent service. The menu was varied but not overwhelming. My asparagus salad was tasty and filling, the butternut squash soup flavorful and comforting. My husband had the halibut wrapped in potato--the fish was great, but he thought the potato was too al dente. Would come here again when I make it back to town, maybe for the dessert happy hour from 9-midnight."

We were all happy with our food choices- next time, I'm getting the mini Icon Ice Cream Sundae! was hoping to try the infamous mac and cheese but it wasn't a part of the Prix Fixe Menu... guess we'll need to go back!"

"Excellent dinning experience, Aprils menu is fantastic especially the lamb. My wife and I are from Utah and discovered the Icon Grill through a city tour last year. I believe the name of the tour was "Savour Seattle". My wife and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary with our son and had a wonderful experience. Thank you to the owners for acknowledging our anniversary as well the great food and wine we enjoyed."

"My only criticism was that our waitress served us in a military manner. I appreciated her knowledge, but I don't think she smiled once. I didn't like my cocktail, but my friend did. When the waitress came to ask if my friend wanted another drink, she said no and told her she was going to drink mine. Then my friend asked me if I wanted another drink, and the waitress didn't say anything. She made me feel bad for not liking my beverage. Then we got dessert drinks at the end of the night. My friend asked for the salted caramel rim that was suggested on the menu. I asked for the same drink without the salted caramel rim. The waitress came with our drinks and said sorry he didn't put the salted caramel on either, and then she just left."

"Have been there twice within the past two week. Had fish tacos with shrimp one time and bbq chicken salad the other. Both very nice fresh, light lunch. One was a birthday celebration and even though we declined dessert they still brought a little celebratory mini cake with ice cream, fudge sauce, and a candle. Very thoughtful."

"The soup had cold spots. The coleslaw was warm and the mashed potatoes were cold. The waiter suggested the meatloaf and when we got it it was bacon wrapped. We unwrapped the bacon to find two bites of meatloaf. The sliders were not the best. We left hungry and spent almost $50 with tip."

"What a comeback! Honestly, I was resigned to dinner at Icon after two lackluster previous meals. If we didn't have a Groupon, I would have gone elsewhere. To my delighted shock, the meal was wonderful! They added monthly seasonal specials to the menu that I'd felt had gone stale and unexciting. My husband had beef short ribs braised in Guinness that I tasted at it brought me back 30 years to the stews and braised recipes that my Grandmother brought with her from Ireland when she migrated to the US in 1920. The sauce was perfection. Our server was very kind and told us about the new menu items and change in menu rotation with a great deal of enthusiasm so much so that we're looking forward to returning very soon."

I especially love the Hog-Wild Mac 'n' Cheese . . . my husband likes the Steak Tips a'Blazin'. The service at the Icon is always extraordinary - quick, efficient and friendly. And who could not love their "after dinner chocolates" - mint brownie bites with mint frosting in the middle?? OH my!!"

"It has become an annual tradition to celebrate our daughter's birthday with the absolutely exceptional and unique ice cream sundae here, but every other aspect of dining at icon is painful. I have come to dread this yearly meal. The menu has changed between last year and this year, and the addition of monthly specials expands the menu to add a few passable items. However the quality of the food prepared is poor, and service in the near empty restaurant was snide, slow, and disrespectful."

"I go my usual which is the potato wrapped halibut. The fish tasted a bit too fishy and almost resembled cod which made me wonder if I had been given the wrong fish when I ordered halibut. It was also very overcooked."

"This was our first visit to Icon Grill and were very happy with our experience. We love Washington Wines and they had a wonderful selection and reasonably priced. The menu had plenty of choices without being overwhelming and the food was delicious. The decor was fun but not cluttered. There were two large parties around us but we didn't feel ignored or overwhelmed at all. The kitchen is open, which I love and you could see the goings on. Very Cool stair case also."

"I procrastinated in making dinner reservations for Valentines.. Opps, my fault! But alas, using Opentable to see what restaurants had availability for the time I needed worked amazing!
From getting there and seated was smooth sailing. Apps, dinner and dessert and especially the drinks from the bar were incredible and perfect!
See you next time for sure!"

"I love the Icon Grill. The room is warm, inviting, festive and a bit whimsical. Not too big - not too small. The menu is pleasantly approachable with familiar favorites (Molasses Glazed Meatloaf, Fried Chicken)and some more surprising options (Cajun Rock Shrimp Penne is one of my favorites) and everything we ordered was excellent. The special sheet offered some seasonal selections that sounded excellent and deciding what to order was difficult with several great offerings to choose from. The service was friendly but a bit leisurely. A glass of wine seemed to take a rather long time to appear. Overall, dinner at the Icon Grill was a delightful experience."

"We chose a chicken dinner from your website ("Chicken Picata")but when we ordered at the restaurant we were told that that was from the "old" menu and wasn't being served. So we ordered the "Fried Chicken." Big mistake. My wife and I have gone to the ICON many times for lunch and dinner, but this was the first time we didn't enjoy the experience. The chicken was too salty, with too much batter, and the mashed potatoes were even more salty. So although the service and the ambiance were good, it was ruined by the meal. We'd like to return but have second thoughts. Maybe you're slipping into mediocrity. Good luck with the menu."

"We seemed to luck-out this evening. 3 tables around us had trouble with their food: Overcooked scallops, lukewarm vegetables, forgotten side-orders, etc. On the other hand, our dishes were all flavorful and delivered warm, but none were awe-inspiring in terms of flavor or preparation. The only challenge we had was that our server was friendly, but inexperienced and a little overwhelmed, so each step in our visit took a very long time. Long delay between seating and ordering, long delay between courses, long lead time between table clearing and offering of dessert menus, etc."
