Morton's The Steakhouse, the nation's premier steakhouse group, specializes in classic, hearty fare, serving generous portions of USDA prime aged beef, as well as fresh fish, lobster and chicken entrees. The menu, which is the same at all locations, features a variety of favorite cuts, including a 24 ounce porterhouse, which is the house specialty; a 16 ounce New York Strip and a 12 ounce double cut filet.

"My Son's 21st birthday dinner. I BYO'ed bottle of shiraz and a 1992 bottle of port. I was a little shocked by the prices of the steak - start at $45 and head up to $60, before sides! We all enjoyed our apetisers - the spinach salad was one of the best I've had. My bone-in ribeye steak was good but $57 and not close to the best I have had. The service was very good. Nice extras like printing our Son's name on the menu and a photo and delivered to the table. Ambiance is just O.K. Liked that they had the car waiting when we walked out. They charge $29 corkage and hit me on both bottles. Considering we had a couple of beers and the port was obviously symbolic I thought this was a little rough. I explained and they removed the second charge."

"Morton's has the best steaks in San Diego. I almost cried eating their food because it was THAT good. If you're a medium rare steak lover, I would prefer to go medium instead. Mine was a little under cooked, according to my waiter. So they were able to cook it more. Their prime is not baked or sitting under a warmer. I dont know how they cook it, but it's flame broiled and so juicy in the middle. It's so good, I can not describe. A little on the pricey side, but extremely worth it. I also had their flavored Morton's champagne. So good as well. I believe Barry was our waiter and he did an excellent job on service. Will go back and try the happy hour soon! Thanks Mortons!"

"This is one of my favorite steakhouses. I always am pleased with the variety. However my meal wasn't as perfect as my husband's. I started with oysters and champagne. My husband had a martini. All was great. Our chopped salads were delicious, but my salad didn't have avocados that were on his. He had the bone-in rib eye, cooked to perfection. My 8 oz. filet was overcooked which they were happy to correct. The molten chocolate cake is always the best! Although I had a couple of things that were not what I expected with my meal, I still will return to Morton's."

"I love great food and great service but the service was a little over the top pretentious for me. It would be nice for the server to read the guests' body language and adjust accordingly. Some people like the "formal/pretentious" service and that's why they go to Morton's. Others don't and that's why they don't go to Morton's. I loved my $49 cajun ribeye, totally worth it. However, the over the top service rubs me the wrong way. I think next time I rather sit at the bar."

"Morton's was nice. I'm a regular at Donovan's La Jolla so I had the Cajun Rib-eye to see how it compares to Donovan's and I have to say I liked it better. It was a bit leaner (which was good) and the Cajun flavor more evident. It was great!
For sides we ordered Hash Browns, Au Gratin potatoes, Asparagus, and Mushrooms and none of them compared to Donovan's in flavor so I was disappointed there.
It was very noisy there. We were there for business and I felt I was not able to hear or be heard due to all the noise coming from the bar and other tables.
So if you are only about the meat Morton's is good but if you are like me and are looking for the overall experience and wanting to get some business done too my pick is still Donovan's."

"Morton's Steakhouse was a last minute choice - between Truluck's in La Jolla and Flemings and I have to say that I am glad we went with Morton's. The ambience was great, the atmosphere just right for a cozy birthday dinner. Our servers were attentive and knowledgable on both old menu items and the new additions. They gave good pointers and were honest about their personal tastes.
The Bibb Salad and the citrus salad were refreshing and quite delicious. One person had the sampler and she loved it while the rest of the table went with the filet mignon which was succulent, soft and filling. We chose 4 sides to share between 6 of us and the lyonnaise potatoes were out of this world! The cream brulee and lemon souffle did not disappoint either!"

"We were seated on time but at a very small table with hard chairs and no room for plates bread etc. we had to be move to a larger table bit other than that glitch it was excellent. "Went for my 36th birthday last minute due to a snafu at my favored steakhouse. Very pleased that I chose Morton's as a backup. Fantastic food and service. Custom printed birthday menus which I absolutely was not expecting since I only put "my birthday" on the reservation comments. The porterhouse was supreme. Noise level was high and helped to mask my 3 year old daughter who was dining with us. Right up there with the absolute best steakhouses I've been to."

"I'm from the Inland Empire so I drove down to San Diego to take my best friend out for her birthday. On my drive down there Morton's called me to ask if it was a special occasion and asked how to spell my friends name out correctly which was nice because really no one ever gets her name right "Kirsten" We arrived a little early and we were probably the 2nd ones to arrive so it was very nice and quiet. Our waiter was awesome very attentive to all of our needs and got our drink orders right away. One thing about Morton's is they never rush you and they really strive to let you enjoy your meal and every thing was so delicious. When we got the menu's it said Happy Birthday Kirsten on the top part I thought that was nice. Exceptional A++"

"This was our second trip to this particular Mortons over the past few months. It isn't horrible, but when you are spending $300-500 for a nice evening out - you expect a bit more.
Mortons is no different than the other Gaslamp steakhouses. In most cities, the high end steak houses can be counted on for consistency in both food and service. However, in San Diego, particularly the gaslamp district, it feels more like a typical frustrating tourist experience."

"Food was great. The steaks (filet mignon and a porterhouse) we ordered were very good. The porterhouse was very juicy and tender. The filet was good but a bit peppery. I also got bacon wrapped scallops and shrimp with my order. They were very delicous. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable. The only thing that was missing was that they didn't show the presentation of meats on the cart. I was looking forward to that. But we still had a good time for our anniversary."

"It was our 60th anniversary. The food and service was excellent. The menu was personalized with "Happy 60th Anniversary Mr & Mrs Hendy. They took our picture and gave us a copy. We valet parked and they had our car waiting for us when we were thru. They made it a very memorable evening. We couldn't have been more pleased.

"We enjoyed an Anniversary dinner and were treated to awesome service. We were greeted with best wishes, our personalized menu had our names printed on them and the complimentary dessert was delish. Of course, the steak, pork chop, sides and cocktails were outstanding...as usual. Matthew was our server and a true professional. The hostess and manager also made us feel welcome. It was an overall memorable experience."

"I've read in other reviews the overall quality has suffered slightly since the takeover by Landry's and I'm sorry to say my own experience bears this out. Plusses: Service, steaks, salads. Minuses: Lamb now from N.Z instead of Colorado although same price; crabcakes blah; onion rings flaccid not crispy."

"The wife and I have always enjoyed Morton's restaurant, it's food is always cooked to our tastes. Today we both had steaks, ribeye and new york, mushrooms and asparagus. "We have been to Morton's many times and have always enjoyed the great food and service. But this time, I don't want to make excuses for the the Chef because it was Valentines Day. The dinner was not up to par, my meal was not hot from the grill, and it seemed like it was sitting under a heat lamp for a while. The steak was good but not at Morton's standards and the lobster was very bland. Other than that we had a good time and hope this is a one time event.

"Very nice ambiance and great service. Menu was appetizing focusing on a variety of steaks and signature dishes. We ordered the rib-eye and mixed grill. Food arrived in a timely manner and presentation was good. However my main concern was that the food arrived luke-warm. The food is expensive here and I expected it to be perfect coming to the table. I was disappointed and found it hard to tell the server / manager. I am not sure if we will return given the price point and expectations prior to going to the restaurant."
