A wonderful new addition to historical Chagrin Falls. UMAMI Asian Kitchen features seasonal, locally inspired, Asian cuisine. The restaurant has been described as "a little bit of New York tucked away in Chagrin Falls. UMAMI has a great selection of wine, beer, sake & bar selections. Located right across from the falls, UMAMI is walking distance to all of Chagrin Falls parks, galleries, shops
& theater.
"Small place (only 9 tables) with outstanding, inventive, asian inspired food and attentive service. This was our second time at Umami, and both were memorable meals."

"The food here is interesting and delicious! We enjoyed a wonderful local greens salad, tender duck, and delicious tuna. Service was just right, there when you want them only!"

"Excellent meal with very attentive service. Nice wine list. Small restaurant but we have always had a good and tasty meal. We like to support local restaurants and this one is gem."

"Overall, the service was fairly good. The sushi was fresh, but nothing exciting. The miso soup was served lukewarm and really did not have a defining taste; I prefer it stronger flavor. We had the roasted halibut and the spicy steak with udon noodles - both dishes were excellent. We had the whiskey bread pudding which seemed to have an overall burnt taste, only quenched by the vanilla ice cream. We had about a ten minute wait for a 8 pm reservation.
A little disappointed after having read all the good reviews."

"Our first time there. The menu may seem a little limited, but I think it is a matter of it being a small and intimate restaurant, and the items they prepare are done perfectly. We tried several small plates (clams (special), California roll, roasted shiitakes, goat cheese dumplings), and shared one large plate (udon with beef). All excellent and flavorful. Shiitakes and dumplings were my favorites. Perfect service. Go. We'll be back."

"The food is perfectly and often imaginatively prepared, with textures and flavors wonderfully integrated. The tuna sushi was delicious, although not remarkable. A crispy fried scallop on a bed of endamame hummus was perfectly coated and fried, and silky and tender inside. The duck confit with chestnut and barley was an inspired combination of rich but not overwhelming flavors, the duck moist and tender."

"Outstanding food, first-rate service and superb attention to detail. They offer a limited choice of sushi, but the selection is very good. But the entree presentations are the reason to dine here, Miso glazed salmon served over seasonable vegetables in a dashi broth with noodles or rice, depending on the presentation. Delicious. The tofu fries and goat cheese dumplings are always popular with our dining group. The house-made desserts are outstanding. In most Japanese restaurants, I usually pass on dessert, but save room for these!"

"Charming little bistro in Chagrin Falls. Food is delicious and prepared with care by chefs who obviously know what they're doing. Friendly but not pushy service. Udon noodles a must. Also had a tasty Baileys chocolate tart (the crust was as good as the filling!). Yummy lavender kir royale cocktail. We will be back!"

"Wonderful food. Some of the best in Cleveland that I've had. The fish was deliciously prepared and it's nice to see some different types of fish on a menu. I had the Opackpacka from Hawaii and it was lovely. My husband had the duck confit and loved it. Highly recommend it!"

"The food was some of the best I have ever eaten. Wait staff was very friendly. Definitely would go again. People need to know it is a very small place so a reservation is a must."

"Top shelf from top to bottom, made even more so by our fabulous waitress, Nicole. We're not big Asian food fans, but we all left happy. Quality ingredients - innovative specials - great atmosphere - brick walls, cozy booths."

"The food is always good here-very unusual. This time we were seated in the front window area. They provided an afghan, but it was still chilly there. And not much leg room."

"Umami Asian Kitchen offers an interpretive blend of Japanese food. We ordered small plates ans shared our meal together. Roasted beet salad, California roll, miso soup, roasted Shiitakes, and Guacamole with roasted garlic. We shared a bottle of Saki. The food was well presented and delicious. The setting is a small storefront located on the main street in Chagrin Falls. The space is well designed, efficient and offers both booths and open table seating. Our only minor drawback was due to a cold winter evening and some cold air when the door opened in spite of a door heater.
I highly recommend this restaurant for couples and small groups."

"We had reservation and ended up at a window seat, the waitress apologized for us being up from but it was great fun, our own little nook in a bustling space. The Chef even came out to say he was sorry for having four of us sit in a small space and that they would take care of us, take care of us he did. Between the four of us, all foodies we had three apps, four entree's, two off the menu and two specials. The specials were Big Eye Tuna and Sole, incredible, I was shocked at how fresh the fish was in such a small spot in Ohio!! All the plates were scraped clean, even by our wives. The waitress suggested a Spanish Red blend, killer, she can pick my wine anytime, we were still taking about the meal hours later with friends."

"Such a great experience! Food was wonderful and our server, Mike was fantastic. Told us all about the local fare that they use as well as how fresh their non-local food was."
