Ten Tables Jamaica Plain
At Ten Tables JP, our modest size and open kitchen create an opportunity for you to enjoyably be part of the experience. Our newly expanded space, which created a stylish but laid-back bar, is warmly appointed with reclaimed wood and exposed brick, giving us a decidedly European feel. Whether you just stop in for a drink and light bite at a high-top in the bar, or stay for a full meal at one of our linen-draped dining room tables, you will come to enjoy a sophisticated and stylish space that all at once feels as familiar and comfortable as home.

Every Tuesday evening our Wine Director, Stan Hilbert & Chef Sean Callahan pair four courses of food with four wines for $44/person. Each week we feature a different region. We can accommodate any dietary or allergy needs. We do not offer our regular menu on Tuesdays.
Every Wednesday evening we feature our "3 for $35" menu. Pick an appetizer, entree and a dessert for $35/person. We don't offer tasting menus on Wednesdays.

"Somewhat disappointed. Had heard wonderful reviews of this restaurant. The food was ok, portions small, entrees served with small or no sides. Food preparation not particularly interesting. Service and wine were excellent. If I went back, would eat in the bar area where they serve small plates."

"I think I could give this place 4.5 stars for food, IF I ate meat out (we only eat vegetarian unless it's a kosher place). Meat & seafood looked good! But if you're vegetarian you may only have one option for each course, that's just the kind of place it is, Nice that they have enough veg options to make a 4-course tasting menu, but I felt it was a bit expensive for vegetarian. I really didn't want a pickled hen-of-the-woods mushroom in my cold potato soup, so that expense was lost on me. Nice vibe, noise level great for conversation, great service, tasty cocktails & mocktails, street parking not too bad. They have special wine events, and low-cost specials on Tuesdays, will have to check that out!"

"Great atmosphere but high noise level; table wasn't available for 20 minutes after reserved time, but we were offered gratis champagne; fish was delicious, but skimpy veggies with it; dessert looked interesting but cheese serving was minute & too much rock salt in the ice cream; excellent server but she disappeared after entries served, someone else finished us up."

"This restaurant is a true JP gem. The food was delicious, I'm still dreaming about the hangar steak and the asparagus soup! The service was stellar - Alyssa was our server and she was the perfect amount of attentiveness, but also was polite, welcoming, and gave great recommendations. The wine list was also great, and the bar menu looked delish. I can't wait to go back and try one of their infamous burgers! Yum."

"Often successful restaurants slip into a routine and rest on their laurels. No so, Ten Tables. With each visit, the menu items present fresh temptations. The small size of the space contributes to an intimate feel without claustrophobia. Service is professional and informative. The kitchen does not disappoint. The octopus starter was a revelation and the goat pasta sublime. followed by assorted cookies. The wine selections are unusual and, when guided by the staff, you'll find something new and perfect."

"The location is great, nice and clean, intimate...would love to have seen the place without all the paint, though, (which made it look "too clean" and not as rustic as I had envisioned) having the exposed brick natural with "real" wear and tear. But that's just cosmetic, still very cozy and enjoyable environment.
The food is very nice. The fusion technique used with the goat was brilliant. The hanger steak was done nicely and the octopus was very well executed.
All in all nice dinner."

"The food was delicious, but service was a little lacking. We waited nearly half an hour just for our drink orders to be taken and to get bread. I appreciate that the dishes are complex and it's not meant to be a quick in-and-out dining experience, but we were there for nearly three hours. Don't get me wrong, it was still an unpleasant experience.
The seafood stew was wonderful. I also got the charcuterie, which had the first pate I've ever enjoyed, and the pickled fiddlehead ferns were surprisingly good. Their ricotta cake was very good on its own, but its glaze was sublime; it was so perfectly lemony. The pana cotta was my favorite of the desserts I tried, though I found the rhubarb compote a little overwhelming."

"This is a small, unpretentious place that utilizes space quite well. Even at full occupancy, the noise level was not obtrusive. The charcuterie appetizer had several items on the plate heavily weighted to a pork pâté and slight on the others (tasty as they were).

"The only complaint that we had was that the menu was a set menu even though it wasn't a wine dinner night or anything like that. Perhaps they open the menu up on the weekends. I would check in advance next time.

"All of the food we tried at TenTables was delicious, not one bad bite. The menu is small but each item had so much flavour that it was worth it. Wine list is extensive for such a small place and we tried a few different glasses which were all delicious and perfectly presented and poured. We had a child with us and the menu was a little limited for him but they did their best to accommodate him and he loved his steak. I would recommend this restaurant to adult parties and intend to return as soon as possible!"

"Absolutely a MUST to try if you live in JP (not sure why it took us so long to check out)! Staff was personable and made fantastic recommendations. I (personally) believe we also had the best seat in the house at the "Chef's Table"; with our backs to,the other diners perched at a high top counter we were mesmerized not only by the food brought to us but also by the skill and magic that happened right in front of us in the tiny kitchen!"

"We have saved Ten Tables for special nights out, and we were disappointed in our recent visit. First of all, we could not find a dinner entree that looked appealing so we ordered four appetizers -- which were all wonderfully delicious -- and split an entree which was good but not great. The serious disappointment was dessert. We got the chocolate terrain and the ricotta cake. The former was unpleasantly reminiscent of a Sara Lee brownie while the "glaze" on the ricotta cake was thick and heavy. The Thai basil ice cream was good. However, restaurants should have appealing entrees and delicious desserts as well as great appetizers. I'm not sure we will try this place again but we are sad to see a long time friend go down."

"The JP Ten tables is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. The food is creative and well constructed. This is a very small place with brick walls and, thus, very noisy. The entree menu is limited but all selections were great. The waitstaff is very attentive without being overbearing. If you enjoy innovative food Ten Tables is worth a visit."

"The food was good, but not over-the-top amazing as the critical hype about Ten Tables proclaims. The charcuterie was fun(but my pate is as good), and although the lesser known offerings were great (chourice, a very tasty, thin-sliced ham, pickled vegetables) – it would have been nice to have more of them, and a little less pate. The bourride of hake, clams, and swiss chard was good if predictable, with two few clams. The steak was flavorful but a bit tough. The best treat was the complimentary shooter of parsnip soup that began the meal. Wine specials were delightful. Service was careful but not cloying. The space was busy and convivial, with the noise level just short of making conversation difficult."

"We were greeted warmly and seated immediately with impeccable service, our water carafe filled regularly, our server(s) checking in, but never overly attentive or involved. The 4 of us, all carnivores, ordered the vegetarian chef's menu and each of the 4 courses was unique and deeply flavorful: an asparagus soup with porcini panna cotta to begin with, followed by a superbly fresh salad of greens, with sliced apples and just the right amount of cheddar cheese, velvety and lightly dressed , a farro risotto that was richly flavored, but not heavy at all, and then they brought, 2 servings each of a dark choco terrine w/sea salt and beautifully contrasted basil ice cream and a creamy rice pudding w/blood orange. We'll be back!"

"Unfriendly greeting upon entering three minutes before our reservation. Wasn't open yet even though the door was unlocked. We were asked to wait outside. Otherwise service was quite good. I received mushy pasta after ordering it el dente. The rice pudding dessert was watery and tasteless. The rest of the meal acceptable, but lacked flare, mainly bland. "I have always loved 10 tables, this was my first visit since they remodled years ago and it didn't dissapoint! We enjoyed a Tuesday night wine dinner, so choosing off the menu wasn't an issue, although I didn't realize that we could have sat at the bar and ordered off of a different menu (I'm assuming this as I saw burgers being brought out to the bar)which may have been our choice had we known. When we booked our table through OpenTable we didn't realize that it was a special menu night and my dining companion was slightly dismayed that the main dish was duck as it isn't a favorite, however it was delicious!"

"We've been wanting to go to TT for a long time, but it does not lend itself to last-minute dining-out decisions, since it is always booked up in advance. We got lucky this time - on a Saturday of all days.
Wow! Great food, great service - just a really comfortable place to eat. Everyone seems to enjoy themselves here - the diners (obviously), but also the servers, the cooks - just a great vibe.
Pickled octopus app was a little funky - I'm not sure garbanzo beans was the best choice in this, but it was still interesting and well-prepared. Wild-boar pasta and the hangar steak were both amazing. Banana pudding desert was equally great. They also have a really nice wine and beer list."

"We were there for the wine tasting prix fix on a Tuesday night. Very reasonably priced for how good it was, and the wine pairings were perfect. We were very happy. I have nothing to really complain about, but only gave 4 stars because there are other restaurants in Boston that I like just a little bit more. But still, it was a great night out. I would recommend it/go again."

The JP restaurant was a bit too cramped, more important, the tasting menu and wine pairings were not very inspiring; it was a selection of things found on the menu and the wines were run-of-the-mill selected by our server.
I will go back, but probably to the Cambridge location and I will probably order off the menu (sadly)."

"We have always enjoyed the food at Ten Tables but this time it was hard to enjoy the experience because of the cramped seating and intolerable noise level. What was intimate and romantic for two did not work for four. We were hoping to catch up with old friends and were disappointed that we couldn't do that. Also, the entree choices were too limited and the menu was virtually unreadable in the dark space. And $200 for four people was too expensive for the experience."

"This was my wife and my our second visit to ten tables. Our first was several years ago and the menu has changed substantially since. We decided to go with the sampler. The starter was the a taster of three items, pate which was very good, charizo, which was 2 very paper thin sliced pieces that lacked enough substance to develop flavor, and the third I can not remember. The main was fettuccine with duck ragu. The pasta was good, but the duck ragu was mucky and very salty. The other main was Pan seared mahi mahi which was perfectly cooked and excellent but again on the salty side. The desert was a raspberry meringue with raspberry sauce. The sauce was very heavy and sweet and needed another item to balance the dish."
