"I was starving after seeing a Sunday matinee of Kinky Boots. Haru Sushi was the perfect spot. The lemon hot and sour soup was a meal in and of itself. I shared a seaweed salad and sushi sashimi for two. It was fresh and plentiful. The service was excellent and the ambiance was nothing special, but adequate. I give this restaurant four hats."

"This restaurant is out of our normal choice, but we decided to try it. The waitress was very helpful giving us help with reading the menu and guiding us with our order. She was careful to make sure we didn't order too much. The food was very good and the portions were just right. I probably would not have two roles again - that was too much raw fish. Even my husband - a meat and potatoes guy enjoyed his meal. He had an appetizer role with me and then ordered a steak that was delightful. The biggest disappointment was their not having coffee.

"But not to spend the evening there or for a special occasion. Food was good, but sushi came without any ginger or washabi - had to ask for it & then sit waiting for it to come. Finding a waiter to get a 2nd glass of wine took a while too. It was busy & noisy, but overall a reasonable standard."

"Haru honored my reservation with a decent table although the table we received felt out of the ongoings of the establishment which obviously has its perks. Don't sit by window unless you don't mind the occasionally gawks from passersby ...Food was satisfactory but nothing you'll eventually crave for...ambience depending where you sit is a bonus for a date...service seemed nervously attentive, the check showed up at the right time even though I didn't ask for it which happens to be a caveat of mine ...I'd go again since it is not overly crowded and at a convenient location, not extremely pricey ...they also do their best to accommodate.."

"Loved this place. It's a beautiful, serene oasis in the midst of Times Square chaos. We arrived early for our reservation and enjoyed a drink at the bar at happy hour prices. Friendly bartenders and delicious cocktails. When our full party arrived, we were shown to our table. The waitstaff were efficient and friendly. We ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees. All dishes were excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant and we definitly have plans to return often."

And the idiots at the front desk told me when I arrived that my date hadn't arrived yet, so they sat me at a table, meanwhile my date was actually there already and sitting at another table. "The sushi had was very fresh and delicious, while the service was quick and polite. Water refills cam without having to ask, the waiter checked several times to ensure our food and experience was good. The only minor negative concern was the level of noise."

"Very good sushi place at Times Square. It's rare to find a tourist-area restaurant that doesn't let quality take a back seat, because different tourists keep coming no matter what, but Haru defies those expectations. Haru offers a wide-ranging menu with many options (including some for diners who don't eat fish!) in an attractive atmosphere with crisp, efficient service. Good bar with decent choices. We have enjoyed dinner there several times as it is convenient for meeting theatre colleages between shows, and the staff take their cues from us whether we are feeling like a fast-paced bite or a leisurely meal. Haru is a pleasant oasis in the crazed Times Square area."

"Our Valentine's reservation was for 4:30pm. We arrived at 4:15 and were seated immediately at a table for two. I didn't know that they had small, more private booths, or I would have requested seating at a booth. The side edge of our table was only about 12 inches from the edge of the adjacent table for two, which made our dining neighbors' conversation much too easy to overhear. In spite of that, it was still a romantic evening. We started with appetizers of spicy tuna roll and spicy, crunchy salmon roll followed by our entree of sushi and sashimi for two. The food, presentation and service were outstanding. For a final touch, my wife received a red rose. We'll be back."
