At Sola, our mission is to be regarded as an outstanding fine dining destination & a valued treasure of the Main Line & greater community. We strive to serve contemporary cuisine in an intimate & pleasing room with the proper level of service (not too much, not too little). We want our guests to enjoy the window of time that they spend with us, savoring their food & wine & enjoying the company of their friends & family. Our intent is to always remain a BYOB, knowing how important that is to many of our guests. Sola will provide a dynamic menu, driven by what is available fresh for the season. The expectation is that everyone will find a number of choices that appeal to their palate. Our wish is that most of our guests will become regulars & will view us a spot they can enthusiastically recommend to their friends & can rely on when hosting visitors.
"While the food was good there were issues with the servers and other issues with the establishment that will prevent me from ever returning. Too bad, it could have been one of my new local spots."

"Getting tougher to find great food on the main-line. Sola was fine, but not great. (I have been their a few times before). I broke my cardinal rule about ordering something that I can make easily myself...and ordered the special of the day - filet mignon. It was mediocre at best. There is nothing that one needs to do for a filet but start with a great piece of meat--this was NOT a great piece of meat. A couple big tendons running through, and it was generally pretty tough for a filet. Very disappointing. My husband had the tasting menu, and the portions were way way smaller than a regular meal...and while it was "four courses" , it had only a tiny soup, tiny salad, tiny piece of fish, and a regular sized dessert. NOT worth it."

"I accompanied my love his mother and grandmother to Sola. I liked the menu, everything was freshly prepared. Sola will always be known as the place where I first tasted escargots. Tasty but not my preferred food of the night. Entree's at our table included salmon, roast chicken, red tail bass and trout. My whole party agreed that all of our food was wonderful. A highlight for me was dessert (We all ordered two...yummy!) I will come back and not forget my bottle since Sola is a BYOB."

"SUperb dinner with one slight exception: the duck breast was rather bland. The softshell crab, scallops, and braised shrot rib were all excellent.. A great special occasion restaurant."

"We had dinner here for the first time this past Saturday, and we came away knowing we'll be back. The mushroom tart was delicious, and we wished we had each ordered one instead of splitting it. We both ordered the evening fish special, which was striped bass, and also delicious. And the desserts! We loved both the pecan pie and the chocolate ganach tart.
The service was friendly and attentive, without being overbearing, and we were made to feel so welcome.
Great discovery for us as we continue our Main Line tour in search of replacements for our Center City faces now that we have made the move to the 'burbs."

"Although the food and service were excellent, my date and I were crowded into a tight space. We had ample room to eat but not enough room to alllow privacy for romantic discussion."

"Really good food- really small - we were placed by the kitchen and there was a lot of commotion that was my only complaint. The food MORE THAN made up for it."

"It was my birthday and we were very disappointed. The room was SO NOISY! Next the service was slow. Finally we ordered snails.. they came in a pastry shell. Not appropriate. SHOULD be covered with butter and garlic inidividually. NOT in a pastry shell! Then the foie gras came TEENEY piece on a piece of lettuce. Sorry but we expected/wanted the good old baguette and spread on the foie gras. Disappointment #2. Told the waiter and he just gave a weak smile and did not respond to our comment at all. Then entrees. Trout was super small. Duck was nicely seasoned and sauced but was undercooked. We sent it back. Finally when the waiter asked if we wanted dessert... We decided to cut out losses! It's a shame cuz it used to be my favorite local resto"

"We ate at Sola over a year ago and it was good then. Why it took us so long to return I have no idea! 2 of us ordered the butterfish and the other person the chicken. Proably on of the best pieces of fish I've had in a long time. BYOB, has to be one of the better choices on the Main Line. Try and go!"

"A friend and I had dinner there on Saturday night, and the experience was fantastic. I had called in advance to request a special meal due to a dietary restriction as well as to let them know that it was my friend's birthday, and they did not disappoint. They gave us a great table in the corner, and the service was friendly and efficient without being overbearing. The food was delicious (especially the wild mushroom tart), and the ambiance lovely. The special entree was scrumptious, and they took the time to write Happy Birthday on his dessert, which we really appreciated. We had a wonderful time at Sola, and I would highly recommend it."

"We love SOLA. The food was not superb this time, as I remembered from our last meal there, but it was very good--especially the dessert sorbets and the salads. It's BYOB, and the space is very pleasant: quiet, nice ambiance, only about 20 tables. It's the sort of place you want to dress up a little for and take a nice bottle of wine. Attentive wait staff know how to make you comfortable. Responsive to special seating requests."

"Sola was a lovely fine dining experience. I liked the atmosphere because it was warm and cozy and simply decorated. The food was made with great care and there were interesting combinations of flavors. My appetizer mushroom tart was not as amazing as I expected, but the side salad was truly divine. My entree was delicious and so was my dinner partner's. I would definitely go back and recommend it to others. The one thing to watch out for is that it's not very dairy-free friendly. They might be able to accommodate, but I found the meal very dairy heavy."

"Good not great. Lovely room. Small, intimate. Some menu items were excellent like the mushroom soup and the salad and dessert offerings, but the fish dishes were all slightly overdone which left them a little dry. This was true for the striped bass as well as the scallops. They were accompanied by interesting sauces and toppings, but if the fish is not moist it's a miss in my book."

"Another wonderful meal! I am not a duck fan but on a cold winter night with a nice bottle of Cabernet, I decided to try the chef's interpretation and it was so delicious. It was perfectly cooked to med-rare (don't ask for more heat), with a smokiness from the lardons that really changed the whole flavor the cabbage was a perfect complement. My dining partner had the short rib and was equally satisfied. A great seasonal menu. The room, which can seem too quiet and small at times to me, is perfect for a dinner where you are focused on conversation and the person(S) you are with and not who's coming and going, or the throbbing music and scene."

"New ownership has brought this back to where it should be. I place where one would want to go for funnier. The old owner didn't care about the customer new ownership does I had boycotted this restaurant for three years due to past owner. Glad to see he's gone
Good luck to Bryan"

"Food was good. Service was extremely attentive. I thought prices were high for the portion size (the food was so good I wanted more). The Duck and Short Rib are excellent. It's Bryn Mawr not NYC but I guess being a BYO they need to make their profit on the food and that's fair. If you are in the area, give it a try. I don't think you will be disappointed."

"Food was average at best. After so many great reviews I thought it would be better. The lobster appetizer was very rubbery and our entrees were just OK. Maybe we just got them on a bad night. Service was attentive without being overbearing. We might try them one more time before putting them on the "never go again" list. One appetizer and two entrees were $90."

"The 4 of us had the midweek pris-fixe dinner and enjoyed it very much. I was particularly gratified to dine on salsify, a rarity in the US, but a favorite of mine in Europe. We've been at Sola several times and always enjoy the experience."

"The only thing I have to say. If you have not been to Sola, you need to go! The food is fantastic, creative, imaginative and wonderful. But that is only the start, the entire experience is personal, warm and inviting. The owner Brian has created a welcoming environment that should NOT be missed. Service perfect, attentive but not overbearing, with great personalty. Cudos to Brian and his entire staff. We will be returning often!"
