DBGB is Chef Daniel Boulud's downtown restaurant specializing in bangers, burgers, and beer. We offer house-made sausages, burgers, and all in addition to seasonal Lyonnais-inspired bistro cooking. For beer lovers, there are 22 drafts to choose from and another 75 by-the-bottle. The interiors pay homage to the Bowery's history as New York's restaurant supply neighborhood. At lunch try our $27 prix fixe, and on weekends our awesome brunch. For dinner we offer a daily $40 prix-fixe . Finally, our private room hosts parties for up to 18 people with a view of all the live action in our kitchen!
"I have been a frequent guest at the Boulud cafe, Boulud Sud and Bar boulud. I know what quality to expect from them. Came to DGBG for lunch month ago, not so many people. Excellent lunch. Burgers were very good and fries as well. Tried dinner yesterday same things- below avarage. How restaurant can change so dramatically in one month? Beer selections take five pages, they are not so great and way too pricy. Not even cold enough. I would not go there again. Apologies Daniel, but something is wrong."

"I go to DBGB every time I'm in New York. I've been to Boulud's restaurants in London, Toronto and Vegas but this has always been my favourite, even though it's probably the most casual of the bunch. The lobster roll is to die for, and the hot dog is always popular with my friends (and at only $12, surprisingly affordable). On my last trip to New York, DBGB was such a hit that my friends and I went to dinner there on Friday night and ended up returning for lunch the following week because everyone loved it so much. (With so many amazing restos in NYC, I rarely repeat -- and never on the same trip!) And the service is so amazing that when we mentioned to our server that it was a return visit for us, he gave us a free round of champagne."

"Came in with a big group and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Ordered the prix fixe dinner- garlic and potato soup; sausage duo; coffee chocolate sundae. Nicely plated, delicious all around. The meal had some surprising flavors including the potato and lentils with the sausage, and marzipan in the sundae. Atmosphere was dark and sophisticated. We sat in a booth and it was very comfortable. I would recommend this restaurant."

"Nice and fresh best describes the food. Not really a fish place so if you really want fish, maybe another place would be better. Not that it's bad just not as good as everything else.
We would go back again !!!"

"dbgb is a great spot for brunch, especially when hungover! the burgers are nice, though not maybe the most fantastic/diverse. the drinks are nice for dinner and getting a secluded table can be pretty fun as long as you are with a lively bunch. would say that it's good food overall and that it's got a very nice beer selection (though it's only got a few drinks i like at best)."

"Nice venue, great for brunch. Food is hit and miss. $26 chopped salad with shrimp was pretty uninspired. A whole lot of lettuce on a plate! Steak was good, and their basil fried rice ...I would go back just for that. French toast comes in close 2nd to Pastis!"

"Made last minute reservations on a Friday evening without any problems. Great place to catch up with friends as the noise level is where you can actually hear one another. Service was very good too. Our waiter was attentive and polite, yet not overly attentive to the point where they bother you every minute. Food was delicious. I went for the sausages and those also did not disappoint. Meat was perfectly cooked and still moist, not greasy and fatty. I'm looking forward to planning my next party there and ordering the HOG."

"First, my reservation was lost. Glad I had the paper copy!
The food was ok but not so special. The sausages were small and not quite remarkable. It just didn't hit the spot for me. I wouldn't make an effort to go back."

"The DBGB experience is proably great for some. The burgers and sausages our group ordered were delicious and service was competent with nary a smile from our waitress. Conversation had to be shouted to be heard, not so good for an evening catching up with old friends. If you like upscale pub food with emphasis on meat, in a high-volume setting you'll be fine."

"After an initially poor seat assignment (notwithstanding an early reservation), we were offered a change and thereafter the dining experience soared. Kudos to the manager handling the dining room, who remained cool as a cucumber in the face of an annoyed patron under Mother's Day Brunch conditions."

"The place is really nicely done, but nothing that would revolutionize your existence. The food is good.. maybe a little bit fatter than necessary, but good overall. Our waiter was tossing stuff on our table all the times.... It could maybe be funny the very first time... It's annoying from the second time on."

"Food was indeed very good, ambience nice, but we were sat on a table by the kitchen that had a very busy waiter, who was kinda nice and attentive, but was hard to catch, as he was always busy serving other guestes. Never asked how was our food. Beer would take 5-10 min to arrive at table and at the wrong temperature. Kitchen smell was very strong at the end of the night and I just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. So, yes, I would recommend it for the food, but overall experience was not a dream coming through and those who bragged about it said would be."

"Had dinner with two work colleagues on a Wednesday night. We had a vegetarian, a beer snob, and a wine drinker. All were satisfied (even the vegetarian at this sausage-centric kitchen). Attentive service that knew when to pay attention and when to leave us be."

"Excellent food, fantastic service, in a very lively but fun atmosphere. The seafood plateau was terrific. The burgers great. The Bloody Mary's were excellent--fresh horseradish makes a real difference--and the muscadet was one of the best I've ever had. Megan was superb at taking care of our group--thank you! The only complaint--minor and fixed immediately both times it has come up-- is that the hot fudge on the ice cream was really skimpy when it came out, which we thought was odd for such a generous and welcoming place."

"This was my first visit to DBGB and I will be going back soon. The food was amazing, the piggy burger was out of this world and the Thai sausage captured every single favour you would expect to find in a Thai dish. I don't know how they do it but you have to try it to know what I'm taking about. The dinning room is very good, large and buzzy with a great ambiance, what a would call a real NY restaurant."

"We had a family (7 people) birthday dinner, including two grandchildren, both boys, one 13 and one 10. The server could not have been more obliging, arranging for absolutely plain cheeseburgers and fries for the boys and providing a seemingly endless supply of sodas.
We liked the seating which is set up for maximum privacy yet no crowding.
All the adults thought the menu was really interesting with a number of items that you don't see everywhere - the roasted carrot salad was particularly good. We would definitely go back."

"Standard things like the burger were great. Unfortunately some of the salads need work. Asparagus salad had a bland creamy dressing. Overall not enough bright or crisp vegetable choices for hearty meat dishes (in both appetizer and sides). These were too heavy in nature."

"The place is ok, but totally overrated. Hip and stuff, a lot of people, but that's about it. We have reserved a table via OT and got the lousiest table just next to the kitchen in the back area of the restaurant (2 people). You could not only see everything that was going on in the kitchen but you could also smell and hear everything they prepared. When we've asked for a different table, we could move 2 tables to our right which wasn't as bad as before but still bad. After dinner we smelled like the sausages they serve at DBGB. Also, the place is very loud. If you're more than 4, it sure has potential. It's nice that they produce their foods in the restaurant, but that's about it. I have eaten much better."

"Went for our first time and had some very well prepared, satisfying food. I had the Boudin Basque sausage and the Frenchie, my wife had the Matzo ball soup. All of the dishes were executed nicely, all of them tasted very good, with the Frenchie having a particularly funky, different flavor. The design of the place is great, a sort of emphatic dark vibe with warm touches (the copper pots and bottles of wine). Service was relatively impersonal and unengaged, but efficient and straightforward. It's an excellent place to go, not least because it's actually reasonably easy to get in unlike so many other overhyped NY restaurants. Be careful though--with drinks the bill can add up quickly."

"Recently had dinner here when visiting NYC. Made reservations for a Sunday night a few days before and met local friends. They had been to DBGB before and liked it. The mussels were divine, burgers great and cod with risotto delicious. We requested a "half" sundae for dessert and were readily accommodated. Nearly had a stroke at the final bill but we were in NYC and there it was relatively modest pricing. Server was a bit neglectful but not awful. Overall a really good experience."

"This was my third time at DBGB. As usual, the food and service were superb. It's a huge space and very lively, so it's not for quiet conversation or romance, but my friend and I had a good, large table near the open kitchen where we could watch the entertaining activity of the chefs turning out the inventive and delicious dishes. I don't know if it's quieter in an off-hour, but we were there for brunch at 12:15 and, although there were many tables empty at the front of the house, the middle and back spaces were filled with couples and large groups all in a party mood. There were families with young children, but all were well-behaved. Many of the dishes are difficult to find elsewhere, so you are never stuck with boring choices."

"We are long time New Yorkers and we had an out-of-town guests, a senior in high school, and his warm and extroverted aunt. The restaurant was perfect for a lively evening with such a diverse group....and the burgers were fabulous!
At first I thought sitting next to the kitchen was a real put down but it turned out we all got absorbed in the fascinating dishes coming out...pigs head et al."
