"Our reservation was for 6:30 but we got there an hour early. It wasn't a problem, and we were seated on the patio, where we stayed. We started with kusshi oysters, which were fabulously crisp and fresh, and then shared the hot seafood platter, a bottle of wine and the red velvet cheesecake. It was a lovely evening, with great food and an attentive server."

"We went to celebrate a birthday, and were seated on the lovely patio. The food we ordered was extraordinary, but the service we received was absolutely terrible. The two tables on either side of us received ample service from the waitress, including check-in's every 10-15 minutes to ensure food, drinks, etc were sufficient. Despite trying to gain our servers attention, we were completely ignored, aside from when she came to take our food order, and bring us the bill 90 minutes after we ordered. It was a completely bizarre experience. We spoke to the manager who profusely apologized, and ensured us that should we return again, we would be provided with stellar service."

"My first time in Vancouver. Met a couple of friends from Massachusetts at Coast for dinner. The service was perfect. Our server was super friendly, but not too much, and super helpful. After talking with her, we didn't even need to look at the menu. The meal was just what we wanted. The fish was fresh, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Found a great Barolo on the wine list. The bill was a more than we expected, but all in all a great evening."

"The service at Coast Restaurant was great. I made a reservation through Opentable.com and we were seated in the restaurant within 2 minutes. The server we had was friendly, helpful, and I must say had good timing between her interactions with us regarding our orders, questions and requests. While I enjoyed the Alaskan King Crab and the Cod and Halibut fillets very much, I still feel that the meal was overpriced. But then again, this is seafood we are talking about, so this could just be my stingy side speaking! Overall I would certainly bring others here again, but only on special occasions and when money matters are flexible."

We had to refill our own wine glasses numerous times as well as waited for certain elements of our meals ( not all 5 entrees were brought out at the same time, etc). At a lesser price point, this would have been excusable, but at this type of dining establishment, I expected more"

"Coast was recommended by a waitress in Victoria that lived in Vancouver. My boyfriend and I wanted a place with a nice atmosphere, great food and a wide variety. She gave us a list of four places and after looking at all four menus we picked Coast. We were so happy with our decision! We were seated on the top level and had a cool view over the chic and classy bar. The crab cake was delicious! The Caesar salad was good but make sure to order the dressing on the side. We shared the seafood platter and it was incredible! It is a great way to try a variety if fresh and local seafood. We were a little disappointed with the dessert menu, there was not a very chocolate based dessert."

"The service & food were ok. We had the ahi poke (highlight of the meal), clam chowder (very thin), the fish and chips (mostly batter & not seasoned) and steamed mussels (good). The main reason we wouldn't go back is the music. It was beyond loud. We felt like we were yelling to talk across the table. We thought "maybe this place turns into a cool club at night and that is why it's so loud." Nope. Not even a single person in the room where the DJ was playing. It's as if this restaurant is trying too hard. Btw... My husband and I are early 30s, and live in LA... So it's not like we are old and complaining about noise. Honestly, the loud techno music colored the whole experience and made it a place we would never return to or recommend."

"Four of us tried a selection of the appetizers and sushi items. The only miss was the Maine Lobster, which had little flavor, but they immediately took it off the bill. All the other dishes we had were terrific: Tuna Poke, Toro, Oysters, Cioppino, Dungeness crab cake. Couldn't be fresher or better prepared."

"Good food, I would recommend this restaurant to people visiting Vancouver who want to try high quality West Coast food.
When I made my reservation I noted that it was my wife's birthday celebration. When the restaurant called me back to confirm the reservation, I mentioned again about my wife's birthday, and they even asked me for my wife's name which I gave them. After all this, I expected they would do something special over dessert - maybe a dessert sampler or at least a candle. But they did nothing which was disappointing. I guess not a good place for a birthday."

"I had a sample of everyones dinner it was very bland for $35 per plate. Mine was the best but the side of asparagus was cold and it only came with plain white Jasmine rice. It was a very disappointing pre-mother's day dinner. All the Global restaurants seem to be struggling. Won't be going back to any of them. It's a shame because they used to be great and they have grey potential."

"The service at Coast is impeccable and is one of the only redeeming qualities of the restaurant. The food, while fairly good, comes with a hefty price tag, which was somewhat expected since I went for a special occasion with my girlfriend, but we took the opportunity of going to a "fancy" restaurant to dress up, and with no dress code at all, I found myself sitting next to people in shorts and t-shirt. We were given two options when we came, a loud and uncomfortable inside table or a romantic corner patio table, which is what we chose. Unfortunately the patio was heated to tropical climates and it was hard no to sweat just by sitting there. I did however appreciate the surprise birthday dessert they brought out for my girlfriend at the end."

"I'm a big fan of Glowbal in Yaletown, but I have to honestly say that Coast was disappointing to me both for the food and the service offered. Joe Fortes gets my vote for a seafood lunch still.
I'm not sure if it the fact that we only had the Friday Burger and Beer special, but nevertheless, our lunch bill for 2 still came out to around $50 for what was supposed to be a "quick" lunch meal. On top of that, we were frightened by the fact that our burgers came out in a pink, medium-rare status! When we asked our server about it, our concern

"Coast was wonderful from start to finish. When we arrived for our reservation, we were seated upstairs, which was great as it gave a view of the lower level as well as part of the kitchen. Our server, Michael, was funny and attentive without being pushy. He made an excellent wine recommendation and never left us with an empty glass.
The food was some of the best seafood we have had. We chose the king crab tempura roll for a starter and the Cold seafood tower for the entree, accompanied by crab poutine and crispy brussell sprouts. Michael then surprised us with a slice of the hazelnut cake for my husband's birthday. The meal was delicious, well-presented, and the value was definitely there.

"We are great supporters of this new restraint group, but this was our first time there and were very disappointed in the service. The waitress seemed attentive at first, but a table beside us arrived with what she called "a good customer", and that was the end of our service. We felt like we were left on our own while the 'regular' customer received full service, how unfortunate.
Food was good, but the evening as spoiled due to the poor service."

"Coast was a fun and exciting restaurant, where the waiter interacted just enough to be entertaining and helpful but still kept his distance and allowed us to enjoy our privite evening. The food was outstanding and the evening was enhansed even more by the extras that they extended to us to acknowledge our anniversary."

"We went because an English journalist whom I follow in Twitter said that the crab cakes at COAST were her favourite ever and were almost all crab. We had to find out for ourselves. And she was right! The New England Chowder was not quite New England (which is a very simple milk-based soup) but was very flavourful and included two gorgeous mussels in shells along with the generous amount of clams in the broth. I want more! And the butter cake with banana chips and coconut sour cream crème anglaise was one of the best non-chocolate desserts ever. Service was impeccable. The music was not only loud but, to my taste, really awful, but we ignored that and enjoyed the food. We will go back."

"For being my first time, I have to admit I enjoyed it. I had a fun time with my husband, away from my 3 kids. The waitress was very nice and she was always making sure I had everything I needed and wanted. The chef was fantastic and his Spanish took me and my husband by surprise. Thank you."

"I always have great experience at Coast. The effort they put into the service is always A+, and by that I mean sometimes there might be a hiccup in the service (slow service, server inexperience, etc.) but management always steps in promptly to make sure customers have a good experience. The food is fresh and there is a huge selection to choose from. It is my go-to place if I am looking for a fun night out."

"The COAST was an great experience. The food was outstanding holding true to the fact you get what you pay for. We enjoyed an order of calamari and fish and chip cones as appetizers that were delicious and well plated. For our main we had the hot seafood platter with signature brussel sprouts. In a word, perfection. Finally the service was on point. The waitress was very sharp and led us through the menu offering suggestions of food pairings and sizes of menu items. My only point of criticism is that the tables for 2 were too close for comfort. It took away a bit of the intimacy that my fiancee and i were searching for as it felt almost like we were sharing a table with neighbouring customers. I will be returning next time i'm in town."
