Since opening in 1991, Zeffirelli Ristorante Italiano has been established as a fine tradition in historic Herndon. The 100 year old building adds character and ambiance to Zeffirelli’s dining experience. "Outstanding Italian cuisine. Good wine list. And, the veal chop is to die for. Their caesar salad has just the right amount of dressing and it's mixed well. Your lettuce isn't swimming in dressing. We've been going to Zefferellis for probably 15 years and we've never been disappointed."

"We came here for Mothers Day, and it was a great dinner. The lamb and veal were well cooked and tender. We did bring our young kids, and there were dishes for them as well; although, this is certainly not the place to bring rowdy, messy kids who can't sit through an hour-long session of fine dining. Overall, Zef's is a great local restaurant in quaint old town Herndon that reliably serves good food and wines in an intimate setting."

"Three of the four of us got great food. But the veal was tough and stringy, though it had excellent flavor; and that one dish was mine, so I was turned off. I'm glad I didn't order the 'signature veal chop'. The cutlet was tough enough."

"The food is worth it. Among the best places for veal in Northern VA, it also offers a great Caesar salad. But we were rushed with the service -- barely time to digest one course before the next arrived. And our server actually scowled when my wife declined to order a drink. (I ordered a glass of wine for me.) Still, if you want nice veal in a cozy old school atmosphere, this is a good spot."

"I took friends who were visiting from out of state there for dinner. The service was excellent, everyone's meal was delicious, and we were not rushed out the door when we finished. We sat and talked for about an hour after our meal. Great restaurant!"

"Words cannot express just how consistently good our many experiences have been at Zeffirelli's . We are never disappointed. The owner, Geraldo and the staff make you feel as though you have just been welcomed into their own private dining room. We have never had a bad or even mediocre meal. "The food was phenomenal, however, the service was very slow and the restaurant was not very busy. Also, they need to be properly trained when they're pouring water and serving, as they kept reaching in, even when we were in the middle eating. Not professional. I would still recommend based on the quality of the food."

"We have been to Zeffirelli's a few times and have enjoyed it. The food is always delicious. We usually go for family birthday celebrations which means a large group. "Zeffirelli's in Herndon, Virginia is a neighborhood gem and top quality Italian restaurant. We always a terrific meal at Zeffirelli's. The manager and staff provide superb service and delicious entrees. For example I dropped my glass of red wine and made mess on the beautiful white table and ruined my just arrived rockfish entree. The staff swooped in, moved my wife and I to an adjoining table in minutes. I was impressed by their service and attention and I had a new hot entree within minutes. Zeffirelli's also has a large selection of wine. Best meal in months."

"We were seated right away and staff were very attentive. Small restaurant so make a reservation for sure. Tables are a little bit close but not uncomfortably so. One of our party ordered a menu item that she did not realize would have dairy in it (which she cannot have) and the waiter was great about returning it to the kitchen and placing another order for her. When she was apologetic about having to send her dinner back he was so kind and reassured her that it was no problem at all. Food was great. A lovely dining experience all the way around. We'll definitely go back again!"

"Growing up in a family where half my relatives are Italian and homemade (rather than from a jar) sauce was a staple, you could say that I am a bit selective about where I dine for all things pasta. Zeffirelli definitely did not disappoint; it is the quaint neighborhood Italian restaurant you would hope for.
To preclude dining out on a holiday in the DC area, we made reservations the night before. We started with the Beef Carpaccio and Tomato/Buffalo Milk Mozzarella Salad, which were an excellent beginning to the meal. My Fettuccine Bolognese was perfection, and my date enjoyed his Chicken Parmigiana. We finished with Berries Zabaglione and Cannoli, which were also scrumptious. In short, a great Italian find in the DC area!"

"I was disappointed on this visit. It was a special occasion and I was ordering a special bottle of wine from their wine list. When the waiter brought the wine, he substituted another year with no explanation. The Manager came over to explain that they had just gotten a new shipment and the wine I requested was no longer available. They should have told me in advance. The wine was delicious but I expected more from a restaurant I visit with some frequency. I am sure I will return again as the food is wonderful as always. I hope the next experience erases this one."

"My food was worse than Olive Garden. Not suitable for children. They looked horrified when I walked in with children, they had no suitable dining for children (menus, cups etc). After the staff realized my children were well behaved the service was good."

"The food was good, the sauces were very good. We were surprised when we got our bill that the special veal chop cost almost twice as much as the other entrees. When I recommended to the manager that the wait staff tell people the cost (and we should have asked) he was apologetic and agreed. He did give us a bottle of wine and a discount card for our next meal with them. Good customer service."

"Zeffirelli's never disappoints, although on this trip, the carpaccio was good, but it didn't hold up to the rest of the meal. Our server was attentive without disrupting our dinner conversation - a fine line to walk usually. He made some great recommendations, including the wine, the veal chop and the homemade cheesecake."

"I was impressed with a service we received at Zeffirelli’s from the very first moment! -we were met at the door,helped with the coats and shown to a ready table awaiting for us.The waiter came right away giving the overview of the daily specials and the wines to pair the entrées.After reading the reviews,we,of course,had to try the famous veal chops.The meat was to die for!I had read that some guests didn’t like too much gravy on it so I just asked not to put too much gravy and it was perfect!But the biggest surprise was at the end of the dinner when the manager presented us with a bottle of champagne to take home as a gift to my Mom (it was her b-day celebration dinner)-it was so thoughtful and nice of them!Thank you for making it special!"

"Having dinner with a friend. The service and food were great. Our server was very attentive without being intrusive. Management very attentive and caring to all patrons. It is very easy to carry on a conversation and able to hear each other at Zeffirelli's. A very pleasant evening."
