Blue Water Grill, a Zagat favorite year over year, is a seafood and sushi dining destination in the heart of Union Square. Loyal guests and visitors alike are drawn to the former Metropolitan Bank space with chandeliers that illuminate the bi-level dining room, a café perfect for people-watching and a lower level lounge and dining room with live music 7 nights a week. The menu highlights the freshest seafood daily, with innovative offerings at the Sushi Bar and composed dishes coming out of the kitchen. "One of my favourite Manhattan restaurants, but this time it let me down. OK, I took a friend (his first time) it was Father's Day and incredibly busy, but neither of use were overly impressed. Front of house were very friendly and efficient. Cocktails were average and the poor staff were so rushed off their feet I felt sorry for them. Also, our food came so fast that we really felt we were being forced to eat and leave asap. I'll go back next time I'm in the city, but maybe this time with a little trepidation."

"even though i got hit in the face accidently with the menu, overall the ambience of the location was overall special. i sat near the door that lead to the balcony.. it was a great seat! the food was ok, i loved the 3 cheese bacon polenta. the mash was good & my steak was too medium, when i asked for medium well done. but i guarantee i will give this location another shot!"

"Went for brunch on a Sunday. It was really nice out so we sat outside and it was surprisingly quiet for NYC. Food was great! Although i only spent a few minutes inside, it was really pretty and the architecture of the place was something to admire. Will definitely go back!"

"Overall was not bad. But in comparison with similar places in the U.S. the food could be better than this with this price. "High rise" service was not even enough food for 2 people. But the environment and service was good. I recommend this place for an special event or a special dating, not for eating great seafood! If you want too eat more and better food, try Red Lobster! But again, Blue Water Grill is the best place for a romantic date and dinner!"

"Blue Water Grill is a favorite Union Square restaurant. This is the place we go to for great food and people watching! It was our first experience with the Saturday Brunch and it was delightful! The french toast was mouth watering! Adding our favorite spring rolls increased our enjoyment!"

"We had a very nice brunch here on a Sunday. Service was excellent and Bloody Marys delicious. A basket of what seemed like pannetone and a carrot bread was brought right away. Two of us had classic Eggs Benedict and one had the egg white omelette. All very flavorful. The omelette was chuck full of fresh veggies. The only part of the meal none of us cared for we're the potatoes but maybe it was just us. The setting is exquisite on this old bank building. It was a great time overall. We'd certainly would return."

"Everything was tasty....the corn crab soup was very good and not too heavy. The Copper River Salmon was done perfectly, and the presentation was lovely, too. The veggies served with the salmon were a nice change from the ordinary -- heirloom tomatoes, leeks, potatoes. I would return. I did find the noise level a little too much for a business conversation, especially the later it became!"

"Jon, our server, was tremendous. He has an infectious personality and was completely engaged in insuring that our experience was a memorable one. The wild salmon and the blackened swordfish, coupled with a great Willamette Valley Pinot Grigio was one of the best dining experiences we've had in the city. The ambience on Union Square makes this an overall great dining experience and we will definitely be back the next time we are in New York."

"The food and service outstanding. You can always depend on wonderful foods so artfully prepared. The service was excellent and they always go out of their way to make it special. Great staff. The hostess might have been more tactful. Not a very good first impression. The restaurant was a bit too hectic....too many graduations going on, perhaps a wedding too? "Felt like our waiter was not informative enough about the menu. He pushed us to order the" seafood tower" which looked impressive, but contained all raw or steamed but cold seafood. The seafood was also very salty and I normally put extra salt on most everything. The hot entrees may have been better. "When making the reservation, I requested a nice table.....4 of the 6 had never been there before, one was in from London, and I wanted them to have the great experience we did when we first were introduced to your establishment. Our table was the first one by reception.....if our train hadn't broken down....and I had gotten there before the others, I would have requested another table. It wasn't the ambiance I wanted for everyone; the restaurant is so pretty and unique and we missed out on feeling a part of the evening. With tip, our bill was 600.00 and I felt cheated due to our location.....Everything was delicious; I will come back but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth."

"We were served by a bold waiter. He was a fan of my hockey team so that immideatley worked out for me. I had steak with fried potatoes, My son had tunafish tasted like it was from the pacific ocean. Romantic setting right outside of union square were the wild things are. Recommened for special occasions why wouldnt i return."

"One of the individuals in our group does not eat seafood so I asked the waiter if he could have a steak. We had arrived at 3:00pm so the dinner menu was not yet available. The waiter did check and he indicated that they could accommodate the request for a steak.
You may want to offer another one or two options for those individuals who do not eat seafood. I realize that it is the Blue Water Grill, however when you have a larger group it provides an option for everyone."
