Otto's Restaurant and Bar
A locally-owned Madison favorite, Otto's is set in a beautifully restored 1870s stone farm house with two dining levels. The menu features creative, Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, fresh seafood and charbroiled Certified Angus Beef steaks. A friendly lower-level bar serves classic cocktails and fine wines, and half-price appetizers from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. Tuesday – Friday. Outdoor dining and live jazz are featured on the deck during the summer. From fall through spring a mid-week $25 three-course Chef's Tasting Menu is offered. Otto's is not recommended for parties with children under the age of 7.
Note: Online reservations are available for the dining rooms only. Bar and deck table reservations must be made via telephone.

"It was ten years since the last time I was at Otto's. I should not have waited. I wasted many a trip around town with bad service, over priced meals and parking problems. If you want value, great service and over the top taste - go back to Otto's."

"We always try to eat at Ottos on special occasions, such as anniversaries, birthdays, etc. We have always enjoyed the atmosphere, service, and of course, the food. We are never disappointed, and always look forward to our next visit. Our only sad and negative experience was when ....for Valentines Day the reservation list was full and we had to eat elsewhere. Ottos will always be our first choice."

"I recently had a client dinner at Otto's and it was a great success. The food was delicious which makes everything go so much more smoothly. The service started off a bit rushed, but once we explained that we weren't in a hurry, she adjusted the tempo and was wonderful. The outdoor patio was perfect. I would recommend Otto's to any foodie in Madison. The Sea Bass will never disappoint."

"This is supposed to be a Madison institution - highly rated by the magazines and known by locals. This place needs a serious update. Old furniture, a "house" smell, rushed service, and an uninventive menu. The shining stars were the cocktails and tomato bisque soup. Ottos needs to take note from its competition and modernize its facility and cuisine."

"Otto's has been a Madison destination for many years. Unfortunately until recently I haven't taken advantage of the dining experience at Otto's. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced considering the quality of the food presented. It's also locally owned and not a chain restaurant. It is now high on my list of places to recommend in the Madison area."

"Four of us had salmon, and it was very good. Our table was sort of stuck in the way of
other tables and the waitress pathways, so that was a bit awkward. Somewhat noisy, so
I didn't vote for it as "romantic", but it was definitely classy. The best part is the

"The food has been great every time we have visited, but the atmosphere is hectic due mainly to tight quarters and a central stairway with waitstaff constantly running up and down. We had planned for a leisurely dinner on this visit, but were seated next to the stairway, the server station, and a large table of loud business diners, so we decided to cut our losses and eat quickly."

"Three friends and I met for dinner at Otto's. We were placed in a corner in the upper area and were able to catch up on news, etc. in a quiet, pleasant atmostphere. All of us had worked together years ago and try to meet as often as we can. We love to go to Otto's because we are not rushed, it is relatively quiet and we can have a wonderful dinner. Thank you."

"We went to Otto's for our 1st anniversary, generally we had a nice experience. The food is fine, just the crab cake is a little bit small for 9 dollars. I had a lot expectation on that cake :P. But my hushand enjoyed his grilled ribeye steak. Probably we did not had the best choice because I saw the food on next table were much nicer than ours....we already paid the highest price on the manu. So I probably will try the fish fillet next time...Anyway the best experience was that they offer free desert for our anniversary, the desert was nice and they brought the desert with cute candle :), we were very happy about the desert and the waitress were very friendly as well. Well, It's not a quiet place to go because it has very good business."

What was especially nice is that at first we got seated next to a large table filled with children (not what we had in mind for our special evening), then a gentleman came and asked if we would like to move to another table. "Everyone was nice and waitstaff was fairly efficient, however, we had a reservation but did not get seated until 40 minutes after the reservation time, making us have to forgo a movie after dinner. We were made to wait for a table in the bar which we don't like to do since my husband is a recovering alcoholic.
While the space is small and intimate, the noise level is high. It was difficult to hear my husband across the table and not to hear others conversations.
To be fair, it was a Friday night and the food was good. So, while I was not thouroughly impressed, I might give it another try during a weeknight."

"first time dining here and everything was wonderful. i had the seabass--it was light and the sauce (citrus beurre blanc) was an excellent compliment. my friend had the scallops and she said they were delicious. highly recommend the prosciutto shrimp for a starter and the fresh strawberry napoleon for dessert. wine prices are very reasonable. service was friendly and prompt. we dined in the bar area which has a casual and relaxing atmosphere. will definitely go back."

"We recently re-discovered Otto's after not going for many years. Two dines in the last few months made us wonder why we stayed away for so long. Impeccably prepared food: salmon special, scallops,and lamb on our last visit. Great wine and cocktails. Good value for the price. We look forward to returning and getting deeper into the menu, it all looks good, and we may never make it to the steaks."

"We select Otto's for special evenings with our group of friends. We start in the bar, the best in Madison, LOVE the bartenders and appetizers, and then venture upstairs for dinner. It is reliably the best in Madison for a quality experience, especially the food and wine. The duck, Turkish grill, filet, seafood, lamb chops, are some of our favorites. We had a special birthday dessert and that menu was wonderful, the chocolate cake and the turtle cheesecake, mmmm--perhaps add a hot apple dessert and the list would be complete! Since it is winter, we weren't dining outside, but we do all summer when the weather cooperates. We've had the same waitress a few times, she has been very good to us! You make our special occasions more special!"

"I really enjoyed my dinner at Otto's, we went there with a group of friends for New Years Eve dinner. It was delish, and service was very good. I love my appetizer, which was mussels, and all of the drinks. Portions are little smaller for what I am used to paying for, but it is still plenty of food. I would definitely go back."
