"Always have a tough time deciding between great Thai and sushi options, but always end up with a little bit of each! Quality is outstanding. Staff is always friendly, but the timing of bringing all the food together is sometime off. Someone usually has to wait for an item or an entire meal while everyone else has their food. I would not make that a reason to look away from Mali. I'll be back!"

"I am not an expert on sushi, but my boyfriend is. We went to Mali on Saturday night and were very pleased. We also had the "Lotus Blossom" dumplings to start, which were delicious. We had a reservation at 8 and it was not too crowded (I think because it is tucked away from the main drag of Virginia Highlands). We were able to choose inside our outdoor seating and we chose outdoor. It was a very nice deck with ceiling fans for nice little breeze. I would definitely recommend it! I would like to go back sometime and try their thai entrees."

"Took my vegetarian Girlfriend there and she loved it. The Pad Thai was outstanding and the drinks were pretty good. I would recomend sitting inside if you which for a more romantic dinner. Outside is more noisy it depends on what your looking for."

"On a recent visit, service was unaccetably slow. It took over an hour and several complaints before our entree was served. At no time did anyone offer an explanation or apology for the delays. The staff seemed preoccupied with takeout orders at the expense of diners."

"Mali is a nice Thai and Sushi joint in Virginia Highlands. The food was excellent and the ambiance was great. Portions are not large compared to most Thai restaurants but they are enough to leave you full. One odd thing I noticed as a vegetarian was a lack of tofu options on the menu. They will let you add it but it costs extra."
