"The atmosphere of Fascino, with its minimalist cream and deep red decor, borders on stark but not casual. The complexity's in the entrees, where flavors, scents and textures fuse seamlessly. Puree of kobacha squash soup with oregano crema and hazelnut oil wins the intriguing appetizer award, and the paper-thin sheets of beef carpaccio with truffle oil and petite salad are a beef purist's dream. Pastas, risottos and raviolis are all available as appetizers or main courses, but the duck breast with confit cannelloni and black fig compote or pine nut-crusted codfish might be hard to pass up." -- Mike Hess, AOL Digital City
"We made an Open Table reservation at Tuscany in Montclair. It was a Monday evening. When we arrived it was closed. Called them, they said they had called Open Table to correct the error. This is the first time in three years I've had a problem with Open Table. I was able to get in the car and reserve a table at Fascino and we were dining elegantly within the hour. Braised beef raviolis were incredible as we're the gnocchi. This is about the fourth dinner at Fascino and every one was delectable."

"Certainly this Montclair restaurant is among the best in the state offering fine food, excellent service in a pleasant atmosphere at reasonable prices. A special place for a special evening or for just an evening in which to relax, be well served."

"My friend and I dined here a few days ago. Their service and ambiance are both excellent. I had their special beef and fontina ravioli, which was extraordinary. My friend had their "signature" barracondi (spelling?) with spaetzle, and was a little disappointed. She said the fish was "ok". I tried her spaetzle, and frankly it was dried out. Elementary mistake in a fine dining establishment. As for our salads, I could almost hear Gail Simmons saying "could use a little acidity". Overall, very, very good; but missing the mark to be great."

"I LOVE Fascin - I travel over 45 minutes to dine there, but on my last visit I was disappointed. The service was lack luster, almost non-existent. To start we ordered to tuna rollantini- very good & the calamari also good but I have had MUCH better there. For entrees, we ordered the sea bass which tasted good, but was cold. The gnocchi did not "look" appetizing at all. The bolognese sauce was heaped on it and the gnocchi's themselves were actually burnt- they must use a skillet to warm them before plating (?). They literally had a black crust on more than one side- surprisingly, the burnt toast taste was almost undetectable but did come through on a few. We skipped dessert on this visi - I hope this was just a misstep & not the new normal"

"We tried Fascino's for the first time during Montclair's Restaurant Week - it definitely lived up to all the good things we'd heard about it over the years. We had an early seating so were able to enjoy a quiet booth in the back - the warm décor and attentive service matched any top-rated NYC restaurant. Our dinners were delicious - my husband had the chicken breast and I had the fluke - both excellently prepared and beautifully presented. Unfortunately we were pressed for time so had to cut our dinner short but the bread pudding made a wonderful take home dessert. We will definitely be back - would love to try the chef's tasting menu next time."

"Excellent food, we tried the three course and five course special and they were both outstanding! Interesting selections on the menu and they also had specials for the day so there was a varied selection. Would definitely go back to try other dishes. Also, it's a BYOB which is an added benefit having your favorite bottle. Service was very attentive and server was familiar with all the dishes. Highly recommend."

"We brought foodie friends to dine and they were impressed by the menu and found it difficult to choose. Our amuse did not appear together, which was a bit awkward, but that was minor. The salads were great. Pasta was fresh and flavorful. We all enjoyed our desserts."

"Our pasta appetizers were fantastic but a little disappointed with the pork chop and barramundi entrees. Pork chop had no taste and barramundi a little fishy. I would choose a pasta for entree next time they are homemade and fabulous."

"We've been going here for some time. Food and service are always better then good. I have a severe hearing loss and an effort is always made to seat us in a spot that makes it easier for me to hear. Sally Kofke"

"We wanted a quiet, romantic spot for our anniversary and this was it. We were able to bring a bottle of our favorite wine and enjoy (BYOB) it with an excellent meal. We had a four course vegetarian tasting meal and a five course chef's tasting meal. Our only disappointment was that one of my courses on the four-course was served on the five course as the base for another dish with meat on it. We like to see lots of different dishes.
Our waiter was great and we definitely will go back."

"We don't make it to this neck of the woods very often but we'd definitely return the next time we're in the area.
Service is excellent without being stuffy or pretentious.
The food is creative, fresh, and well executed. It tastes good, too.
Our non-meat-eating 14yo daughter made a meal out of the mushroom soup (which is no ordinary mushroom soup with its fava beans, hen of the woods, etc) and the mascarpone polenta fries with gorgonzola fonduta. The shaved zucchini salad was bright and fresh with it's sweet, sweet honey crisp apples. I eschew chicken dishes in favor of more interesting options; my baramundi was delicious but I got to finish my wife's chicken and it was remarkably good.
The apple crostata was delightful, too."

"Probably Montclair's finest restaurant (Culan Arianne is the other contender for the role),this restaurant offers an interesting menu,an attentive and correct wait staff in a pleasant ambience. It is also fairly priced in the bargain. Well worth regular visits."

"Love this restaurant! Best in Montclair, maybe even in NJ! Staff is super friendly and service is impeccable. The food never disappoints - rivals any NYC fine dining establishment, without the city traffic and commute! Fascino is BYOB -- so save on expensively marked-up wine and bring your own."

"This restaurant has unique, outstanding dishes that make it memorable. We especially liked the black sea bass with the zucchini risotto and the barramundi. The appetizer of boccacini with crabmeat was also delicious. If you want a Manhattan dining experience with fresh food in New Jersey try Fascino."

"I had been to Fascino once before, about 5 years ago, and it was fantastic. Their chef has not changed, and the food is still excellent. Their menu is not completely static, and because the food choices are unique, you don't feel like you're at a "run-of-the-mill" Italian joint.
Tony, our server, was great at helping make decisions, and we appreciated his attentiveness.
They used a wine delivery service for us (because we forgot to bring ours). The correct wine was delivered very quickly, and the prices were more than acceptable. In fact the pricing was significantly better, I think, than if the wine had been on their own menu because you pay the local wine store directly.
My wife and I enjoyed it, and we will definitely be bac"

"Service was exceedingly slow. I had to request the dessert menu from the waiter on the way to the men's room after waiting about 20 minutes and we waited a very long time between other courses. For all of the rave reviews we found the food just average. The lobster ravioli special was wonderful but the grouper---cooked well but it had no seasoning of merit. The vegetable tasting menu was fine, but no standouts. That basically is the sum--everything was fine but nothing special other than the lobster ravioli."

"This place is fabulous!! My wife had been here with some friends recently and shw wanted me to try it and boy, am I glad she did! We started by splitting the Ricotta Gnocchi appetizer. The sauce was light and very tasty. The gnocchi were light and airy (and wonderful) and the sweet sausage bolognese was great and not overpowering in any way. My wife had the Australian Barramundi for dinner, which was great, but I had the Slow Braised Short Ribs, which were superb!! Everything was very nicely served and each bite was better than the last. We shared the Ultimate Peanut Butter & Chocolate Parfait for dessert, which was decadent, but again, wonderful. Great service too! Don't walk, run to eat here!!"

"It is our second time to this restaurant. Last year the food was really impressive taste wise. For some reason last night, everything was so very under season, almost tasteless. Starting from the mushroom soup, blah and forgettable, even my grouper, and i do have a mild tolerance to salt. Same w my boyfriend's short ribs, under seasoned. we have to keep adding salt to get some taste. the chocolate lava dessert was the only delicious item. oh the potatoe w basil sauce they gave as complimentary to start was very delicious also. only that its as tiny as a dime. that was the level of taste we remember and came back to expect. unfortunately, last night's dinner was a flop. my boyfriend said we will not be coming back. :("

"Totally enjoyable dinner. Best part was the surprisingly moderate pricing for the excellent tasting menu. We were able to have a business conversation throughout even with the dining room mostly full. The opportunity to BYO enabled us to complement the great food with terrific Italian wines from my cellar. We will go back again!"

"I've been here several time and I'm never dissapointed. The food is creative and different. I get tired of the same dishes on every menu of every restaurant around town but at Fascino you will never have the same boring pasta dish or meal. Also, the dessert is outstanding every time, the chef's mother does the pastries and she is a genius. Just love this place."

"As good as a NJ BYO gets. Inventive, seasonally appropriate dishes. Generous flavors and portions. For some, a salt alert is in order and not a great place for vegans. But very, very good."

"We've eaten here before and the food seems to get better each time. The service is impeccable, friendly and professional. We were surprised to be treated to a complimentary red beet ravioli; I don't like beets but this was delicious! The grilled octopus salad was served at the perfect temperature and the octopus was tender, the salad added to the flavor. The grouper and the veal were delicious. The peanut butter, dark chocolate and vanilla parfait was to die for! Again, I'm not a peanut butter fan but this was so good! This is still one of the best restaurants around!"
