Located in the heart of Jack London Square, Scott's Seafood restaurant has been the standard for fresh seafood in the Bay Area since 1976. With an incredible view of San Francisco and the Oakland waterfront, Scott's has been named the "Best Seafood Restaurant" in Oakland for a good reason. Scott's Famous Cioppino, Seafood Saute', Alaskan Halibut, New England Clam Bake Stew and our award winning Clam Chowder are some of the classic favorites. Piano bar every night with Maxine Glover playing Wednesday through Saturday. Also performing Sunday through Tuesday the incredible John Turk. The Sunday Jazz Brunch Buffet features "Just the Three of us" Jazz group each Sunday. Also, window and patio seating are on a first come first serve basis.

"Went to Scott's in Oakland for a 1PM Mother's Day buffet brunch. The food met Scott's high standards. Since it was Mother's Day, they opened up 3 large rooms, each one with a 3-4 piece band. We had the middle room and our jazz band thought they were just having a jam party. The music was too loud; we were in a round table for 10 people, and we could not hear the people seated across the table from us. The only good point was when the band took their 30 minute break! There were bands in the other 2 rooms, but they did not play as loud as the one we were in."

"We had dinner on Mother's Day so the place was understandably busy. Even so, we were seated quickly after checking in. We were lucky to get a window table at the opposite end of the bar area so it was quiet enough for our party to chat at normal levels. The wait for our food was long enough that our waiter came to the table a few times to say our order was coming soon. The food was great once we got it though. Overall, it was a positive dining experience despite the holiday crowds."

"I brought my mother here for mothers day as she loves their crab salad. While they were more than accomodating in serving her the salad, I was very surprised that the buffet was $59.00. The selection was limited and far from others I have been to for the same price or less."

"The food was delicious and came relatively quickly considering how full the restaurant was on Mother's Day. It is a very large restaurant with a relaxing view of the water. The service was excellent with the servers constantly refilling drinks without prompting. It was a wonderful experience and I would definitely come again."

"We had a reservation for 6 PM but there were about 25 people ahead of us all with reservation waiting to be seated. We waited for about 20 minutes and decided to go to another restaurant. When we left the line had not moved. We will not be visiting Scott's again anytime soon."

"Although the restaurant was very full, the buffet area was never too crowded and the kept the food replenished continuously. The waitstaff was very friendly - no attitude at all when we aske to move tables to get away from an annoying fan noise. The waiter continuously refilled our Mimosas and OJ. The food was good some things better than others, nothing stood out as fantastic - but it was a brunch buffet after all. It was a little on the expensive side but all in all a very nice experience."

"I dined with 5 other people for mothers day. All adults. The food was excellent, our server was great... but the food took F O R E V E R
I understand that it's Mother's day and you are busy, but this was a reservation only dinner, and we scheduled ours at 4:30 to avoid the evening rush. When you know exactly how many people you will be cooking for it should be easier to make the food come out on time. I will definitely try this place again, the food was amazing. Despite the 3+ hours it took us for our dinner (without dessert) I enjoyed Scott's Seafood and would recommend it to others."

"The food at Scotts is consistantly excellent. Mother's Day however it appears they over-reserved and under-staffed. The line to check in was out the door and the podium host was overwhelmed. We never saw our waiter - apparently he'd been tasked to build the outside pavillion for overflow. Our busboy actually showed the initiative to serve our drinks and take our order but was not trained in serving the food so our entrees came out with the salads. Management did take responsibilty and comp our evening though we would have preferred an enjoyable, stress-free Mother's Day dinner."

"It was Mothers Day and they had a loud jazz band playing, so you couldn't carry on a conversation. We sat there for 15 minutes before a waitress asked if we've been helped. That told me that a waiter had not been assigned to our table. We had the steak and lobster, which for $50 was a ripoff. I asked for the steak to be medium well, it came out rare. And it had absolutely no flavor. Very unprofessional and not what I'd expect from Scott's. I'm sure the "Mothers Day" excuse will be used for the large crowd, but then schedule adequate staff."

"Had guests from out of town. Didn't realize the only option would be the brunch. I had been there before and remembered ordering off a menu as being an option. Although the brunch setup looked nice. I was not happy with the selections. We asked if we could order off a menu and were told we could not, although a bar menu was provided as an option. The selections on this menu were limited and not what we were looking for. I was disappointed with the service and the food. Won't be going back anytime soon."

"I spend a lot of time at Scotts but they need to increase their portion size. Its very expensive for the portions. Cheesecake factory a national chain serves equally good food with larger portions. A place like Scotts should totally out pace a place like the Cheesecake factory."

"I had my retirement lunch at Scott's in San Jose in February, and received a Gift Certificate for Scott's restaurant from my boss as a gift. Nowhere did it indicate that it was only valid at the San Jose and Walnut Creek restaurants. After ordering a wonderful dinner, I was told that the Gift Certificate that I planned to use to pay for the dinner, was not valid at the Oakland location! This location is "family owned" and is not a member of the Scott's corporation.
Despite this little "surprise", I will still patronize Scott's restaurant and will recommend it if asked."

"Unfortunately we booked a Sunday reservation for a group of 10 for a birthday celebration. We did not realize that it is brunch only for Sunday however, wasn't completely put off by that. We were put into very close quarters with two (or three?) other large groups and since our reservations were after theirs we definitely paid the price in that food was gone in some of the areas and our waitress was very hurried and could spend little time with us. The food was just okay and the price was very high. The restaurant is in a good location, however and while we've eaten at Scott's Seafood Restaurant before and it was fine, this is out first time for brunch. I would not recommend going for brunch."

"waiter was over-extended so we rarely saw him! we had to ask for everything ... more water, condiments for the burger, more bread! it got exhausting trying to hunt him down! the food was so-so really. everything looked beautiful but the taste was not there! the only thing that we all agreed tasted good was the boston clam chowder and sourdough bread! luckily the company was fantastic otherwise it would have been a waste of time!"

"Scott's is one of my 'go-to' restaurants for seafood. We had some family here from the midwest who do not get a chance to have it very often. I requested a table with a view and was accommodated nicely. All the food was excellent as usual. Scott's clam chowder is highly recommended. My sister had the seafood salad which was beautifully presented and very tasty. Two people had the seafood saute which is definitely on my list to have next time. We were having such a nice time that we didn't notice that we were practically the last ones in the restaurant as they were getting ready to close even though we had arrived at 7. All around excellent meal and service."

"Great seafood, ok service, a classic bay area restaurant. You will get a really nice view and a good martini. Live music was also a plus! I'd recommend this restaurant for special occassions or when you're looking for some great seafood. The herb crusted halibut was fantastic."

"I would not recomend for a special occasion brunch. They had problema keeping up with the food demand and squeezed too many tables into the dining room and atrium for diners to comfortably move around to get to the buffet."

"It was a ery pleasurable Brunch for Easter! It was a wonderful place for the whole family! My grandchildren loved it and we were very happy with the service and the food. I tried to change my reservation from 2 people to 7, but could not do it through Open Table. So, I called Scott's directly and they were able to accomodate me."

"Went to Oakland because we could not get in at Scott's on the River in Sacramento on Easter Sunday. What a great experience for someone like me who had never been there before. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, parking was not an issue; the staff from the front reception to the bar to the table was attentive and personal. The food was good; I was expecting more variety of seafood for brunch though. We did enjoy the selections and would consider returning for another special occasion."

"Our experience at Scott's Seafood restaurant in Jack London Square over the years has been progressively going down.
To start with the appetizers we ordered for a large party, were poorly prepared. The popcorn shrimp was a dark brown from old deep frying oil that has not been changed. I am well aware of this since I am a chef myself. The calamari was not drained from oil, as can be seen by a puddle of oil in the serving plate.
The seafood stew was well below average, especially when you pay $30.00 and have very little seafood in the dish, and primarily broth.
The hamburger for the children was so dry, they could hardly eat it. The lobster sandwich, where was the lobster, there was very little lobster in the filling."

"We needed a place that served lunch at 3 pm - not easy to find. Then I remembered Scotts in Oakland. What a beautiful view from our window table. The food was fantastic. Great clam chowder, fresh crab, plank salmon. Yum. Ended with bread pudding bannanas foster. Perfect!
Not cheap, but prices appropriate for location and quality. It is nice that some things never change at Jack London Square."

"The service was off last Sunday evening. Initially, when the young man behind the bar did not know what a Martini was...then after explaining to him, he pronounced VODKA as "Bodka". Finally the bartender peaked his head around the corner and said he could make one. (Really??)
At dinner, our waiter was distracted and appeared generally disinterested. Took too long to bring wine when we ordered it, then said they were out of Pinot Grigio. (Really??) Took to long to bring out a sauce for the calimari.
This service is not typical, however for a special occation, like my son's engagement, I expected the usual A+ service. We won't go back to the Oakland location. But we will definately dine at the Scotts in WC."

"Food mixed. Online menu indicated dishes that were not on the menu -- and wait staff seemed totally unaware of what is on the online menu. Lobster was over cooked and dry -- fish was very good. The bus staff very efficient and attentive."
