Yiannis Taverna
Yiannis serves Greek food that is inspired by traditional recipes and healthy living. Our chef, James Anast, tries to encompass every aspect of Greek cookery, from its inherent healthfulness, to its history and customs in our menu. We are located in our own building on trendy and historic Whyte Ave and have a warm and ambient room that evokes thoughts of the Mediterranean. To further enhance your dining experience there is belly-dancing on weekends and a beautiful Moroccan lounge in our lower floor for you to sip some tasty libations before or after your dinner.

"Our family, including both sets of grandparents, and two young children went to Yanni's eagerly expecting their great food, fantastic ambiance and terrific service we have come to know, but sadly on Father's Day, this was the opposite experience. Service was slow, taking well over an hour for us to receive our meals, and items that were ordered being forgotten completely.
We waited for our meals with grumbling bellies but left the restaurant in grumbling states as we were so frustrated and disappointed with our experience.
Maybe we caught them on an off day because we frequent this restaurant and usually quite enjoy our meals and the service."

"Yiannis has been a favourite place for special occasions for my wife and me for decades; the new decor is modern (Greek), replacing the very traditional and dated look the restaurant had. What did not change at all (and it is Greek food, after all) is the menu or the quality of the food. It has always been good, though not the best Greek food out there. At least, like ancient Greek culture, one always knows what to expect at Yiannis."

"First time back since the restaurants renovations. The room has been completely renovated and can best be described as moderne with an authentic greek feel. The food was enjoyed by all. Notably, the "chicken supreme" was incredible. Our greek server was very friendly and her service was well timed. We will be back soon!!"

"Wow , it's been almost 4 months for the renovation to be complete , and well worth the wait ! My wife and I had to rush here on Saturday night when we found out they had re-opened . We have traveled around greece twice now and are already planing our next trip back , and maybe that's why we love this place so much . We have tried other greek and mediterranean restaurants in and around town , and always come back here for that true greek taste and hospitality that we have grown to love . They have added some great new menu items and still have some of old favourites . They even added more greek wines . A lot of the original staff are back too ( that shows loyalty) . We had a great time as usual !"
