Galvez Bar & Grill is the go-to restaurant for local seafood as well as cocktails. Following a $900,000 renovation and the launch of a new menu, the new Galvez Bar & Grill now features fresh seafood from Galveston’s Pier 19, steak, Po Boys, award-winning Gumbo, salads and a variety of bar bites including filet mignon sliders and flatbread pizzas. Its Sunday Champagne Brunch is a top choice for Open Table users and was named as one of the top 100 brunch restaurants in the U.S.
"The re-do of the hotel lobby, bar and restaurant is truly special! The restaurant has an impressive menu of interesting interpretations. Also amazing small bites!
All in the Grand Dame of Galveston!"

"The Galvez Hotel built in 1911 is a beautiful, charming facility. It is well worth seeing. However, we would not recommend visiting this grand hotel for Sunday brunch. Our experience was very disappointing. Service was not attentive and not to be found. And, that is pretty amazing for a buffet. It took over 10 minutes to obtain a beverage upon seating (the manager said it should be within 1 to 2 minutes) and it took over 25 minutes to obtain a check (the manager said this should have been already prepared). Buffet was extensive but not maintained. A number of choices were not refilled and many had been over-touched. For us, we would go back to see the beautiful Hotel Galvez just not for Sunday brunch."

"We stayed at the Hotel Galvez and dined at the restaurant twice. The service is excellent! The food is fresh, has a great presentation and the ambiance is outstanding. It is a wonderful dining experience and every item we ordered was top notch. This is the place to dine! You can't go wrong with their lunch or breakfast menu. Our table ordered Shrimp Benedict, club sandwich, chicken salad and various breakfast items on our two visits. We all cleaned our plates it was so delicious!"

"Food was good and manager was very nice after we told her we felt rushed by our server. Our server brought the bill very earlier and didn't come around to clear plates nor refill champagne."

"My friends had recommended the Hotel Galvez as an excellent place for a special occasion to have sunday brunch. We arrived on Sunday March 10th 2013 and were shown to a table in the veranda area overlooking the sea. The aircon was turned up too high but no one seemed to do anything about it. The food was good quality and in plentiful supply at the buffet tables. The pasta station was a different story - my friend queued up for about 15 mins for her dish to be made and then could not eat it. The chef had put far too much garlic in it despite being asked not to. This ruined the dish. Drinks service at the table was very slow. The price of the brunch is very high and i would only go there for special occasions. Not sure if it is worth the cost"

"The brunch at Bernardo's is worth the visit and money when in Galveston. It really is wonderful for a special occasion. I took my husband there for his birthday and it was very enjoyable."

"The food was absolutely delious. The service was very well done, sensitive to our need, but not hovering. The Hotel Galvez is just architecturally spectacular."

"Was just about a half- step above a Denny's or Appleby's. We had dinner, and breakfast there--dinner menu not exciting, to say the least, breakfast had a buffet, and selections were good. We had a nice waitress, she wasn't very experienced, but I know she tried hard to do everything right which I appreciated. It is convenient if you're staying at the hotel, as there isn't much else within walking distance. I don't recommend it if you expect a fine dining experience...but, it you just want to grab a bite, it's fine."

"First Problem was our reservation on Open Table was NOT at the restaurant. They did not have it, even though I had the email confirmation. They took care of us, but that put us on a downhill spiral when the place was very busy."
