"Apparently their OpenTable reservations were not functioning, the lines to check in at the host station were long, and the hostess was seldom there, once they found a table outside for the four of us we were informed that the bar was hectic so it would take a while to get served drinks..."

"SF resident for 47yrs. Been here before. Park Chalet misses the mark for a GREAT food experience. An incredible site, but the food leads one to think they don't want or expect you to come back; i.e., tourist! Waiting 25+mins for food, no problem, nice hot day, lots of people, wonderful airy restaurant. Two beers, both room temp. Two burgers & a garden burger, string onion rings (good but greasy) & sweet potato fries came a few mins. later as did the condiments, all at room temp. Three Buns looked like "Wonder Bread" ! Hello, a $9.00 burger, $11. Veggie burger, please, give me a Sourdough roll, at least! A nice size Garden burger, but had one overwhelming spice, sage or thyme. Did we order the wrong food! Is there something better?"

"Upon receiving our food, I realized why the locals have all jumped ship. For Taco Tuesdays' $2.50 specials, I was massively disappointed with the skimpy, sad, dry, favorless "tacos" that actually came to the table; they were nearly inedible. I would have been less disappointed if the fish taco had a thawed fish stick in it rather then the sad batter thing with two shreds of cabbage on it that actually arrived. The carne asada taco was so tough I couldn't bite through the meat and ended up with an inedible chunk of bland rubber in my mouth. My dog seemed to enjoy it. Overall, I can now see why only tourists and unsuspecting locals still come here. We will not be back."

"Go there for the location and historical value. The upstairs Beach Chalet is great, but skip this poor "stepchild" of a restaurant. We were there with a party of 7 with credit card in hand, ready to sample some brew and have a merry time. While waitress was friendly, she was not at all engaging about the various brews, etc. Maybe she assumed people over 50 don't know how to have fun! Advice: Don't have the crab sandwich as is only a crab mixture (looked like tuna salad) slapped between 2 pieces of bread served with what looks like potato chips. Extremely overpriced! Over a 2 hr period, no water refills. Got the feeling they wanted us to leave, so we left at 9:30."

"I have been going to park chalet for years, I look foreword to going for many more. It does get noisy. I think they were missing a person on staff, so it was a little hectic."

"Food was very good. Best veggie burger we'd ever had! Service was great and friendly. The room was divided into the sports bar area, if you wished to watch the TV, and a quieter area. Very fun evening and we will go back. IT's great to have something like this in that West part of town. The outdoor area is fun and the indoor area has a fireplace for those chilly beach evenings. Great place!"

"Well, if you go to PC on Sunday, your only option is the brunch buffet. If you do not want to do buffet, you can only fight for some chairs at the bar to order a la carte. The sandwiches we ordered are greasy and tired."

"This place is WAAAAAY TOOOO LOUD!! You cannot even hear the person sitting next to you when they yell at you. The food was just OK..chicken was super dry. Crab sandwich had hardly any crab in it. Mac and cheese was good. The service was super slow, took FOREVER to get water and food. The location is nice, but I wish the food and service was better! AND it wasn't so loud, the high wind ceilings make it echo in there too....do NOT go here if you want to talk to anyone you went with over your meal. You cannot do it. Maybe go with your spouse of 50 years that you have nothing you want to say to. LOL!"

"Took an out of town friend here and was a bit disappointed with the buffett choices this time around. Seems to be the same "old thing " each visit, but I always manage to make a good "eating outing" for myself. Would like to see more choices in the way of maybe some soups, breads, bagels with different smears, etc., vegetables, and so on. Might edrive up the cost a bit,but clearly will offer more in variety in each visit. My friend of course was so overjoyed, the weather was great, the seating outside was pleasant and the service as always was a delight."

"I went there with a friend on a busy Sunday afternoon. The restaurant is really hard to get a hold of by phone, but the staff was friendly and kind. But that's about it when it comes to the service. Since it was so busy and they were short-staffed, the wait was EXTREMELY long to get our food. People everywhere the whole time. Kids running around. Long lines to order food at the bar. Waiters running around the restaurant, trying to find customers to bring food to. Utter CHAOS. I was so uncomfortable there that I just wanted to cancel our order and leave. But since it was for my friend's birthday and they wanted to stay, we stayed. And waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, our food came and we found a spot to sit down and eat."

"The setting is beautiful, serene. The food is good. The cheeseburger, ahi tuna tartare wer both good. My husband had the crab sandwich not that exceptional. Portions are not huge. Service is a little slow."

"I thought was brunch was ok. If I return I will probably just order at the bar and sit outside. The lunch food looked tastier than most of the brunch."

"The food was not good. Fried chicken was dry and bland. Macaroni and cheese was far too salty. Service was excellent. Ambiance is nice. Sweet potato fries were tasty. Of course, I only had one dish."

"The 'Sunday Recovery' brunch is a pretty good deal, but the buffet food left something to be desired. However the bottomless champagne made up for the sub par buffet food. What buffet food is that great anyway? The omelette station made me some nice fresh scrambled eggs to make up for the overcooked eggs on the buffet.
All in all I was pretty darn happy by the time we left. The place is extremely dog friendly which is a major plus for us. We'll be back!"

"Good food and good beer, friendly if not 100% prompt service, not crowded on an early Wednesday evening, pleasant surroundings. The prices seemed a little steep for what was offered - for example, $11 for a simple veggie burger with no sides."

"We had a very nice dinner at Park Chalet and recommend it to others for a lovely place to eat. It was a little dark, though, for my elder eyes to read the menu. During the day they have outdoor tables. The menu is a bit more limited than its sister restaurant the Beach Chalet, but the food was very good."

"We went to Park Chelet two Sundays in a row. No doubt about it, these were different chefs. First one excellent, second Sunday, just your average greasy spoon brunch. Free Champagne Brut from California though and one fee pays it all. Great outdoors facing Golden Gate Park. Great ambiance, family and groups, although too noisy if you want to have a conversation with your sweetie inside the dining room. Outside is quieter but only "a la carte". Ugh, if you are a dog lover, they allow your dog to hand out (on leash) with you in the back patio. Very nice people and very nice dogs, both Sundays. I left my camera behind inadvertently, came back two hours later and someone had turned it in, it was at the manager's office waiting for me. Thanks!!"

"Servers are friendly however the food came out really long for a Friday night. Wasn't too many people seated, but a lot of people standing with drinks. They would only seat you if all your party is there. (There were two of us, We were party of 3!) So that seems silly. The hostess said, you can sit at the bar and get drinks....hahaha if there were actually seats available we would have gotten drinks. Food is horrible! Simple bar food. Burgers, salads, etc. Ordered Garlic Fries. Fries were soggy weren't even crisp. Garlic on top was blah. Beer was good but that's about it. Had the crab salad sandwich w/chips. Horrible. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant to eat. Only if you wanted to be by the beach and wanted a beer."
