"Excellent wasabi crusted filet mignon in the wood fired oven and cosmo tidbits and wonton soup. Mai tais (traditional) and tiki puka puka were our favorite drinks. Our waiter was great - always making sure we had everything we needed and was knowledgeable about the food and drinks."

"Had lunch with a co-worker one Thursday afternoon. We opted to share a few tidbits... spicy spider roll, coconut prawns, salmon salad (with purple potato slices!), and duck tacos. Sharing smaller plates allowed us the opportunity to taste a variety of menu items. My fave was the spicy spider roll and the salmon salad. Never had duck before, but it was quite tasty! The prawns were a little "bready", but not bad. Great food and great service!"

"There are just so many better choices, even just at L.A. Live and especially within a few blocks. Roy's would be a much better choice if you're looking for this type of cuisine and its only two blocks away."

"When attending an event at Staples it's hard to beat starting off the evening at Trader Vic's. The food is consistently good, the drinks are fun and most importantly they can handle the crush of pre-event dining. Also, love the fact that reservations are honored spot-on. "I did not expect much from a restaurant at LA Live. I knew it would be somewhat Disneyfied and overcrowded, but my wife and I went on an off night (no sporting events) and so we had our own waiter and almost no wait for our food. The food was much better than I expected. My wife had the wood fire grilled salmon, which was quite thick and good. The poke was also good as was my iron steak. Still, you pay for being at LA Live, but if you're going to the game and the Farm is full, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as well."

"We generally like Trader Vic's for its cool tiki vibe, its fun drinks and the generally reliable food. We notice that the restaurant seems to be cutting back in some ways, like not offering the "right" drink glasses (possibly because people have been stealing them?). At our recent trip, the portions seemed smaller, particularly on the curry dish, which came with a small helping of two condiments (chutney & currants) in a small side side dish rather than the wide array in a specially designed holder that wraps around the plate. Too much breakage there, guys? We're hoping that this place can uphold the quality we've come to expect from the worldwide restaurant, and not slide into mediocrity."

"Went to Trader Vic's hoping for some tropical/kitchy ambiance and overpowering tropical drinks. I had Trader Vic's Original Mai Tai which was good, but not overwhelming and not large. I had the Chilean Sea Bass which was very good. The combination appetizer was ok, nothing memorable except the coconut shrimp. My complaint is that the food is overpriced and that atmosphere is lacking the character in the Original Trader Vic's restaurant. There are no over sized Tikis or colorful birds or pictures. Background music is standard rock not Polynesian."

"It's like you just stepped into a tiki hut that a millionaire owns on a tropical island. The lights are dim to create an adult atmosphere. It can be a romantic place too, if your love is their with you. But it also could be a fun place to go with friends. They have a large bar area in the front with the main dining in the back.
I made a reservation and we were seated within 5 minutes. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I recommend their Original Mai Tai (if you want an adult beverage) because it comes out with a flaming lime on top! It was so pretty.
I got the "All In" Fried Rice and my hubby got the Teriyaki Beef Tenderloin and Prawns. We also tried the appetizer & desert sampler! It was delicious! I will definitely go bac"

"Very disppointed. The restaurant was almost empty with only one other party when we arrived. The waiter was very pleasant but the rest of the service was poor with many of the staff just standing around and talking among themselves. It was an Easter buffet and I expected better service considering there was only one other party there. For a $40 per person buffet, the selection was very poor with the Prime rib bring tough and food was not turned so it was dry and terrible. The selection was very limited too. With so many people standing around, we expected our plates to be cleared right away and at times, the plates piled up. I hope the food and service is better for dinner or lunch but this is my last buffet at this restaurant."

"Wonderful, a place we can count on when getting together. The smoked Filet, the salmon, halibut, wonton soup, and the wonderful rice are perfect, but every dish we try is always excellent. A place I count on for perfect food and service, and that pleases everyone that comes. What dining out should be."

"Our first time at the LA location. Our fondest memories of Trader Vic's are from the old Beverly Hills location. We've also had several dinners at their San Francisco and Chicago locations in the past. This LA Live location is a good experience with very attentive wait staff and many of the standards in the way of drinks and meal selections we had hoped to find."

"The drink list goes on and on. They really have some amazingly delicious cocktails. Also, the sea bass was the most delicious sea bass that I may have ever had. It's perfectly tender and buttery and has a great sweet, crispy glaze on top. I'm drooling just recalling it! This was our second time dining there, and both times we were waited on by Steven, who is really nice, very attentive, and gives good recommendations."

"Food was great, drinks were abundant in selection and delicious. They had live music going, which really contributed to the atmosphere. Only thing I was disappointed in was that there were no souvenir glasses available to purchase, which was something I had wanted to do. I was told the demand was too high, and they had no ordered sufficient quantities to keep up with maintaining their own supply...let alone customer purchases. It would've made a nice souvenir, will just have to suffice with the night's memories!"

"The L.A. Live location is kind of feast or famine depending on if there's a big event at Staples or Nokia Theater. If not, you've got a nice quiet place for a romantic tropical dinner. If there's a game and a concert plan on waiting and having the place packed to the rafters."

"A friend and I needed to meet and have dinner, but their kitchen closes quite early. Some of the food was really excellent - surprisingly, the asparagus, which is outrageously wonderful, was our favorite dish! - but I miss some of the old standards from the original restaurant. And, I know it's in a high-price zone but wow, it's a pricey place!
Parking is a real challenge, but the 2 hr validation is deeply appreciated and makes a huge difference!
Our waiter was outstanding, keeping my water full (something most wait staff ignore), making even my picky friend delighted.
The atmosphere is truly old school kitsch and as such, is great fun. Wish they still had all those mugs and tchotchkes for sale!"
