"From the moment we entered the restaurant until the moment the time came to collect our coats we were treated as if we were celebrating a very special occasion! We booked within an hour of our reservation on a busy Saturday night and wow! what a surprise we had. The outside of Chakra looks like an old warehouse but once you step inside, nothing could be further from the truth! Sumptuous cushions on sofas, soft candle light, exposed brick walls, well placed spot lights above each table so one can read the menu, amazingly prepared food with exquisite desserts. The cocktails were to die for! All in all, a very good and unexpected experience and we can't wait to return to try some of the other temptations on an amazing menu!"

"A beautiful room that transports you from the minute you walk through the door. The service and food continue the fantasy that you have left Jersey and are perhaps in NYC, California or Miami - a destination where food is respected. We enjoyed sharing sushi rolls as starters, then three if us had the crabcakes. These were full of huge lumps of moist crab meat with only enough filler to keep it together from pan to plate. Clearly they were not deep fried as they were not in the least greasy. They were light and moist. Couldn't be happier with the attention we received from Fausto our server. You must try the specialty drink from the cocktail menu made from bacon infused bourbon, mottled cherries, etc. Might sound strange, but it was awesome"

"Great place. Ambiance, food, servers, great bar area. I thought Julia was the best waitress but Alex last night proved that all these guys do it right. Even the bartenders are all on point. Try the Pear martinis in the lounge before dinner!"

"The food was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. Going on a weeknight between 6:30 and 7 was perfect. we will come back. If what you are looking for is good food, good service, an informed waiter, and quick but not to fast service, you will enjoy this restaurant. They also have a full Gluten free menu which is a nice touch."

"Soup was cold, had to send it back. Fish was burned. Dessert was not what it was sold under. We complained to the manager and got bottle of wine deducted from the bill, which made us feel little better. Will not go there again. Overpriced and not worth it."

"Although the restaurant is a little pricy, my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was very good. We shared an appetizer salad and two entrees, which the staff dividend in the kitchen. The restaurant is very pretty. Definitely will go back and recommend the restaurant to others."

"Always a great time when with the hubby or for a "lady's night". The Crispy Calamari Salad is always a must. My friend has The Simply Grilled Salmon and said it was delicious, insted of our usaual martinis we opted for a wine night. Always a great time with great food and atmosphere."

"service was very slow, took almost 10min for server to bring menus, drinks took long and meal was very spaced out(which ran out of steak special) from appetizer which the appetizers were better than the meals, I normally don't make complaints but if my boyfriend leaves steak on his paste then there is definitely something wrong. I don't think I will be back. Way over priced for service and food that was received."

"We had a very nice time. Although Chakra is really not a restaurant for children, we found that they were flexible in finding a menu for our ten-year-old. The service was courteous and knowledgeable, although a little quick to clear away our glasses and dishes. The food was delicious. Will definately return."

"As I've told people since my dinner at Chakra, the place is all flash, no substance. It's stunning to look at, and the cocktail list was impressive, but it is insanely overpriced, and the food was absolutely average. My $16 sushi roll was no different from the $5 version at a local place. Entrees are all overpriced and just nothing too exciting. They're trying too hard."

"I went for Easter. I ordered leg of lamb when I got it is was very cold as well as the side dishes. This was my second time going to Chakra. On top of the cold food I was charges twice for the meal I had because it was suppose to feed two people, well only one person ate."

"This place can be a little pricey if you're a college student like myself but its a great place to go for a special occasion such as an anniversary. I had the skirt steak of beef which was perfect and my boyfriend had the simple salmon which is always delicious. The hostess was very accommodating and seated us next to the beautiful waterfall since we were unable to sit at a bungalow like I had requested when we made the reservation a month ago. They always make it a point to tell you that it is not guaranteed that you'll have one and they're mainly for large groups so you can't really get mad. This place has such a beautiful ambiance it keeps us coming back. I definitely recommend it to all couples."

"Love, love, love this restaurant! I went here with my family for my 50th and it was a memorable evening. The food is fabulous, creative and sigh-inspiring delicious. The french fries with truffle oil and 3 sauces is a must-have. My 17-year-old son had the rigatoni with slow roasted rabbit and was in heaven. So tender and flavorful. I had the diver sea scallops special with brussel sprouts and a bacon foam. Fabulous! The dessert with bananas, caramel, peanut butter, whipped chocolate and Hawaiian seat salt-- amazing! I closed my eyes after just about every bite. I can't think of enough superlatives to describe this meal. The price makes it a special occasion restaurant for us, and it is always a special event."

"Recommended to start with a drink in the lounge area and catch the ambiance. Food was fantastic, waiter made special accommodations for my veggie friend and combined a side from one dish with fish from another to make our night. The dessert was outstanding. Fun atmosphere and romantic. My only complaint is the wine selection was sub-par but again the waiter returned our "Wine by the glass" order and credited it against a bottle in the mid range pricing which wasn't great but drinkable. The prices are a little high but a good option to going into NYC for a comparable meal at higher prices."

"Chakra has had a number of chefs over the years. The current chef may be their best. The ambiance is swanky Asian/Turkish -- with booths and wonderful lighting. Although it has a vibrant well-known singles bar scene, Chakra is terrific for a late night quiet dinner during the week. We shared an octopus app that was flavorful and oh, so tender. Then, I had the monkfish special : succulent; well spiced. My buddy had their Chili/Cinnamon spiced Chilean Sea Bass. Wines ere good and we shared a dessert of nouveau donuts with some sauces and ice cream. A lovely meal ---- but certainly one of the more expensive restaurants in Northern New Jersey. BTW, our waitress was very attentive, initially --- then disappeared!"

"It seems as though simply charging a great deal of money will skew people's opinion on restaurant. The food was good, but should have been better for the price. The bread was ok, the entree was trying to be great, but fell short, and the server that my wife and I had (for her birthday) was mediocre. He never said thank you, or certainly, or absolutely, or any of the server-related phrases i like to hear for a $150 meal. the atmosphere is really cool, and the bar is beautiful, but for those proces, we did not have a drink at the bar. Maybe it was just my wife and I, but we expected more."

"Great experience! Staff were friendly and welcoming from the minute we walked in. Waiter answered our questions and helped us make good choices. He gave a generous pour on the glass of wine I ordered. My friend avoids seeds, so the busboy graciously brought us more bread without seeds. Though, it's not worth fulling up on bread. The food was delicous! Tough making a decision, all sounded so good. The foie gras app with coco is a mix of sweet with a little salty. Rich, but not over the top. I opted for the lighter monkfish special. Cooked to perfection. Staff was very accomadating with my friend who likes her meat well done. They didn't judge, and checked to make sure it was to her liking. Looking forward to next visit."

"Went here for a celebration. Food and service were great. My wife had the crab cakes and I had the salmon medallions, both very delicious. The baked Hawaiian was recommended and was different but certainly good."

"I attended Chakra on Valentines Day with my wife, I had higher expectations. Being that it is a local place with great reviews I insisted on having our romantic dinner here. I was frazzled on how small the tables and uncomfortable the chairs are. I had to request for us to be moved to the end of the room where they had bench seats with cushions. I wasn't aware they had a special menu for V-Day, and it was pretty much this is what we have today take, pick your choice. I would have rather picked something from their regular menu but I guess its easier for them to rush food out this way. After a total bill of about $285.00 I expected much more for my money. I have been to other places with better views and this did not come close at all. Sorry"

"I was very impressed! It has an atmosphere that's suitable for a nice intimate date night with your loved one or sharing drinks with friends. Menu is great and the drinks are fantastic. I would recommend to anyone!"

"My date and I enjoyed the ambiance and the food. My butternut Squash Soup was very tasty and the Simple Grilled Salmon was well executed. We thought the Lemon Chicken (2 legs) might have been a bit overpriced. We both enjoyed the side of Sweet Potato Puree.

"Highly overrated. The waiter did not remember the specials and couldn't answer simple questions about preparation. One member of the party is on a very low sodium diet and asked about the risoto and was told that there would be no salt. When it arrived it was so salty that members of the party who normally like salt found it too salty. The other dishes were just fair to midlin. Nothing stood out. I ordered a double expresso and got a 1/2 cup of regular coffee. When I pointed this out to the waiter the response was that it was expresso and he made it himself. I know enough about coffee to be sure this wasn't the case."

"Went to Chakra with my wife for our 20th wedding anniversary. I liked the decor, the service, and the mood of the place but that was about it. The tables are so close together you feel as though you are having dinner with the couple next to you and the hard wood chairs were very uncomfortable. The food was awful. I had the aged steak and it was so tough I could barely eat it. I've had better steaks at Outback and that is no exaggeration. My wife simply didn't like anything that she had. For the quality of food they serve they are tremendously overpriced. I would not recommend Chakra to anyone and I would not return. Normally I would of complained but I felt as though I didn't want to put a huge downer on our anniversary."
