"I LOVE Flex Mussels! I always have a great meal here- it is a little pricey, but nothing over the top. When I told my waiter that the lobster on my Bruschetta Mussels was a bit chewy and overdone, they immediately without me asking brought me a brand new serving of lobster. This place knows good customer service is the key to staying afloat in NYC and I will continue to come back here for as long as they are open."

"This was a fantastic place with great food. I went with a friend and the immediate reaction was this would be great for a date! The service was impeccable. My friend and I ordered two varieties of mussels, one Fra Diavlo and the daily special to share. The daily special had calarmari, shrimp, scallops and linguine in a wonderful chowder broth. We supplemented the dish with the truffle fries which we felt the need to order an additional order. I'm am really looking forward to returning."

"We had the lobster cream based mussels based on previous reviewers comments, and were happy with that choice. So many choices that one could dine for a month and not repeat! The serving was generous and declicious. The service was attentive, but we did dine at an earlier hour than most New Yorkers would have. The price was reasonable and we would recommend this to anyone who likes seafood."

"Their specialty is mussels served in a variety of sauce bases. Mine was in a bisque. The sauce was flavorful and full of ingredients, particularly large chunks of lobster. The mussels, said to be from Prince Edward Island, were sweet and plump, cooked to perfection. Service was friendly and very attentive. If you are not a seafoodie this is not for you. If you are a seafoodie and bored with salmon and snapper, this is a unique opportunity to savor a very singular food in a very special way."

"I've been to the other location and wanted to try this one for a change. The other, 13th street location, is much prettier. This one is much more austere though I wasnt seated in the back which has more color. But the food was at the same high standard, and the wait staff was very attentive. I always get mussels when Im there and my friend got the seafood special, the whole branzino, and I took a bite. Absolutely amazing. I had the mussels bisque which was absolutely delicious. And the lemon meringue pie in a cup. Wow. My eyes rolled back in my head after the first bite."

"My husband & I met our 20-something kids here for a b-day celebration for my daughter. Maitre'd was warm & welcoming and held our table while we sipped our Cosmos & caught up with one another. Our table was perfect- round and in the back, just as requested. the atmosphere is relaxed with an energetic , city vibe. the menu is mostly mussels, but in so many interesting varieties. We also had the healthy, yet delicious kale salad, the crabcakes , and the AMAZING Boston roll. Chunks of lobster on a warm buttery bun- to die for!!! All our mussel orders pleased the palate- I recommend the thai & lobster chowder variety. Dessert was their trademark Whoopie pie- liked the main course more. Will return!"

"I usually don't like mussels but this place changed my mind. It's prepped in many ways so you can basically choose whatever flavor that fits your taste bud. The waiters there are very professional and attentive. The only complaint i have about it is that it's too dark and a bit noisy (like all other NYC restaurants). The table space is also quite small if you have a big party."

"I took my wife here for her birthday after visiting the Met and this restaurant absolutely blew us away. The service was extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful. The food was out of this world good!! I've always loved mussels but we had no idea that they could be this good. I got the Parma mussels and I'm salivating just typing about them. Can't wait to come back to try another flavor. Also the atmosphere was very modern, trendy, and colorful and also very comfortable and inviting. This has instantly become one of our favorite restaurants from top to bottom. I have been recommending this place every chance I can since going. Everyone needs to try these mussels!"

"This place has an A+ personality and crazy good food! Fun! Fun! Fun! Love the upside down shell pails that hang from the ceiling as bar lighting. The wait staff was so friendly we wished they could sit down and join us! Order a variety of muscles and share amongst your company... the crusty bread dipped in the delicious broths was the ultimate piece de resistance... until the salty carmel donut with vanilla bean dipping sauce was served that gave the incredible meal a run for its money."

"Excellent food but extremely noisy. I had to yell across the table for my husband to hear me and vice versa. Yet I could hear the other people's conversations sitting on either side of us very clearly since they were almost screaming at each other. This is not a romantic dining experience, but if one is looking for night life-bar-scene-dance club noise and good mussels, then this is the place."

"Once we were seated, the service and food were great. attentive without being rushed, food was very good. My only complaint is that were would not be seated until our whole party arrived, and one us got delayed at work. There really is no place to sit at the bar, and we even considered going somewhere else for a drink. Had we been seated, we would have ordered drinks and appetizers while we waited. I think if 3 out of 4 people show up, that should be good enough for a table."

"If you like mussels, this is it! Categories of sauces (& prices) are broken out on the menu. Classic dijon sauce was excellent, and 'Bisque' with lobster and brandy was, too (although other 'lower tier' choices would be just as good; fungi is another favorite). Be sure to hold on to the spoon (or some extra bread) to get the sauce once the shells are all empty... Fish & Chips (in the 'non mussels' category) were also crunchy and tasty. Flex fries were a little disappointing: not hot or crunchy; would probably skip them next time. Iceberg wedge is expensive (considering) but smothered in blue cheese and sinfully yummy. The baby donuts with choice of fillings are also a guilty pleasure - but hey, as long as you're here already."

"All members of our group had perfectly cooked mussels. The bread is fantastic and even better used to mop up the sauce! New favourite place to eat in the city! Seemed to be mid redecorating when we were there but other than there being a few pictures missing and some masking tape on the walls you wouldn't have noticed!"

"Our table for two seemed to be situated in an odd place, very close to the kitchen and high traffic for serves, busboys, etc. I tried to ignore it but I was bumped several times. Also, we were rushed out of the table maybe two minutes after we paid the check. We had also been urged to say we were finished eating so they could speed us along. For all the hype I've heard about this place I thought the food was average. We ordered a few types of mussels, a variety on the standard and were not impressed and barely tasted the extra ingredients."

"Flex needs to clean out their grease trap!!! Else stop frying those delicious delightful hand cut fries. My clothes needed to be cleaned as soon as I got home, and I needed a shower, to get rid of the grease smell. Otherwise the food was fantastic and the service great. Mussels were fat and juicy, the broths pretty flavorful. Oysters were great: west coast ones were full of salt and iron. Even the bread was good!"

"Great Upper East Side spot especially if you're looking for fresh, creative seafood. Mussels are an outstanding choice no matter how you have them prepared. Plentiful servings, very flavorful and satisfying. Old Bay fries are great and the Flex Donuts are a must-try. One of my favorite places to eat in the city! "Fresh mussels directly from PEI prepared 25 different ways as well as wonderful appetizers and salads. It's one of our favorites and we're never disappointed. If you're a happy hour person go early for a deal that can't be beat in the bar area. We like to share, so we eat in the main dining room and have fun with the appetizers (salmon tartare is wonderful) and the Thai mussels can't be beat."

"The mussels is very good, no doubt. The mussels is lobster, bisque has wonderful broth as well as Bombay. But for the brusetta, there is hardly any sauce and for the price of $25, don't order. The crab cakes are very mediocre and disappointing calamari ( or what they call it something else) but if you like calamari done really well, this is not the place. But the truffle fries and the mussels overall, are very good...so much that I go back just for those. The broth is what does it. Mussels are on the smaller end so if you are a mussels lover looking for a large portions, it's not really. The staff is really friendly but the noise level can get little high b/c it is a popular place. If you don't have reservations it's hard. And bit of wait."

"My 3rd visit and consistently great food and just all round cool place to go on the UES, including the waiter and his Mussel Tov T shirt. Although we ordered 3 different types of mussels and planned on sharing, each was so good - none of us gave up our bowl of mussels to share. We debated on fries due to the calorie addition but decided if we were going to go for it - might as well order the truffle fries. Well worth the extra calories. I love this place not only for the food but it is just a cool spot and the service is excellent. Choose the back room if you can, quieter but still lively."

"PEI mussels at their best! As an Islander I was proud of the food. The mussels were delicious and there is a great variety of flavour choices to fit any palate. We were there on a Sunday night and it was hopping yet the staff were attentive, helpful and always ready to make our experience the best it could be. We will return for sure when we come back to New York."

"This was our first time at Flex Mussels and it far exceeded our expectations - the service was great, from the energetic host, to the friendly server and bussers, to the manager nicely asking how our meal was... For the upper east side location, the crowd was surprisingly very mixed, which was refreshing. And the food was wonderful, so all will leave us wanting to return soon."
