Gallagher's Steak House
228 West 52nd Street New York, NY 10019
Celebrating its 85th Anniversary, Gallagher’s has remained a New York City dining landmark; the decor and ambiance have been passionately preserved to create the Classic Steakhouse experience.
People come to Gallagher’s for the steak. Gallagher’s is the only steakhouse in New York City that grills their steaks over hickory coals. Our USDA Prime Beef is dry aged in-house for 21 days at a constant temperature of 36 degrees. Dry aging beef produces a more tender, buttery and complex flavor profile in the beef.
The combination of all-natural dry aging and hickory coals makes a steak you cannot find any place else in the New York area. This celebrated restaurant remains exactly the same as it always has been and so does the extraordinary mix of our clientele -showbiz and entertainment people from all over the world, sports figures in the boxing, horse racing, football, baseball, basketball and hockey world, and business professionals.

"This time Gallagher's was a bit too noisy. The place was packed-full of customers. Service was slightly dissapointing. Been at Gallagher's before and the experience was better. Asked waiter for a very well-done steak, suggesting to split-open the steak to make sure it came back the way requested. The waiter did not allow finish suggestion, claiming he'll make sure the steak would come back the way ordered. Steak came back not really well-done (as requested). Sent it back. Steak came out excessively dry. Upon telling the waiter, he said that's the way it should come-out when steak cooked extra well done. Prior time at Gallagher's asked for same request, and steak was cooked to perfection."
"We live in Southport, NC. My husband gave me a trip to NYC for my birhday. It had been several years since we had been to Gallagher's and nothing had changed. Great food (best steak I've ever had), service was excellent. The only thing that could have been better was the cost. If they were not so expensive, we culd come more often."

"Our visits to New York are never complete without a trip to Gallaghers Steak house. We were introduced to this fine restaurant many years ago. The food here is excellent (steaks are the greatest). I love that the photos on the walls really give you a feel for how many years Gallaghers has been around. This place is good for groups as well as couples. We will always return."

"Went there for Valentine's Day and enjoyed myself. From entering establishment to existing was within an hour. I was across the street retrieving my car from the garage attendant at the up to one hour rate. That was fantastic for us!"

"The ambiance and location are great and it would be on this basis that I would recommend this restaurant. The service was also very good as one would expect in a restaurant of this class. There are however other steak houses that offer better steaks. Overall, the value and the experience was adequate."
"My first experience at Gallagher's was a good one, but not great. The staff seemed to be very attentive at times, but other times missing in action. The original steak I received, the aged sirloin, was quite tough, despite being prepared medium rare. However, when I reluctantly sent it back and ordered the ribeye instead, this was the opportunity for the kitchen, wait staff, and management to shine. And shine they did! My new steak was prepared in a timely manner and just the way I like it. It was tender and juicy. A new side of sautéed spinach was also prepared to accompany the steak. And the manager visit our table to apologize and ensure all was well. I would certainly give Gallagher’s another try!"

"They are supposed to be known for there awesome aged steaks, but my wife got a filet ordered medium well that was cooked rare and had to be sent back. I orders the bone in ribeye cooked medium rare, and it was charred on the edges and cooked through too much. For a supposedly "high end" steak house to have these kinds of issues with tempreature and steak preperation I was suprised. They were way too overpriced for the poor quality food. I would not go back, and would recommend others to go to any of the steakhouses in the area."
"I was a bit disappointed with our meal. I ordered the bone-in Ribeye that besides being a bit small was a bit tough. A place with the reputation and prices like this, you'd. expect a premium cut of beef. The side dishes were also very expensive for the size and quality. Other people in our party expressed the same disappointment."
