"I enjoyed my second dining experience at Iris. It's quaint little restaurant that makes you feel that you are not in the tourist district of New Orleans. The food was excellent. We started with the mussel appetizer and the gnocchi, followed by Steak Frites and Grilled Shrimp both were meals were fabulous. I would definitely recommend this to those who are looking for an experience that is a little off the beaten track."

"My group and I dined at Iris over the Jazzfest weekend. We originally had 11 in our group and added two more to the group which the restaurant did a great job accommodating. The waitress was great and had a wonderful sense of humor. The only complaint I have is the food portions were way too small. For the amount of money we each paid for dinner, we were not happy we left hungry. We actually left contemplating buying a whole other dinner somewhere else.
However, if you're not that hungry, definitely go for the duck. My husband had that and it was phenomenal. I wanted fish, so I ordered the shrimp dish which was nothing to write home about...quite disappointing.
All in all, great service, ambiance and energy!"

"I had a lovely time at Iris for my birthday May 3rd. The place is pretty and the food is amazing. However, even with a 10:15 reservation we were waited upon very slowly. Because of the late hour, that presented quite a problem; we were starving! We also encountered a ton of noise. I have been there 3x before and do not remember the volume being such a problem. It was. But I would go there again, hoping that they have addressed these issues."

"Hard to find a fault here. All the food we had was top notch from the lemongrass/chicken soup to the sweetbreads to the gulf shrimp entree. The cocktails were good too. They seem to have an excellent chef. The service was fine, the only complaint being that our waitress didn't seem to know many details about the drinks or the food. The ambience is pleasant in this smallish restaurant, with a nice bar alongside the dining tables. Noise level was fine for us on a Friday night. One of the better restaurants for food in the city. Oh yes, good bread, too."

"We ate outside in a courtyard by a pool with just a few tables, so not noisy! Very nice! The food was wonderful... layers of flavors. Recommend the very tender pork cheeks and the mussels dish has a fabulous sauce. The duck breast was also DELICIOUS. The service was very attentive. The only turnoff was the initial welcome to Iris...rushed and rude (it was early and not even crowded). Certainly not Nawlins style! Put a damper on my meal."

"I was with a party of four and would have to say that each entree was delicious. Service was also pleasant and prompt. The only problem was with the wine list. We often look for a good chardonnay and expect to pay $35-55, but the lowest price for an oaked, California wine was $72. With the many excellent restaurant choices in New Orleans, that is enough to keep me from returning."

"It should be noted that the. New Orleans Jazz Fest was going on & everywhere was crowded & loud. However, they should have been able to handle this. The front of the house was very chaotic & loud. The inside dining was very loud the bar section was quieter than the dining area. We were lucky & seated in the courtyard & it was lovely. Our waiter was very good-& our food was wonderful. The redfish was perfect Dessert was equally great, kefir lime panna cotte & a chocolate pepper crime brûlée. Also recommend the cucumber basil martini & a very fine mojito."

"From the fun signature cocktail menu, to the creme brulee, this restaurant aims to please. A delicious starter using crunchy kale was a welcomed surprise. The bruschetta was super fresh greens with a pretty variety of heirloom tomatoes, great bread and temperature here....the arugalla salad was a riot of scrumptious flavor with the pop of beets and early greens, but the gnocchi won the table-do not miss it! The entrees were timed perfectly and prepared as requested. The lamb chops were divine with unexpected combinations of spices, the couscous added some nice texture but the pepper sauce sealed the experience. Our hangar steaks were outstanding, but the fries could have used truffle salt. With all the attention to details Iris wins!"

"We actually had an excellant meal and our service by our waiter was excellant, despite the blatant effort by the maitre'd to turn our table for a larger party scheduled to come in. We like to enjoy our cocktails and look over the menu in a timely manner. Not constantly being asked by the maitre'd if we were ready to order. We witnessed him speak to our waiter, firmly asking him to move us along. We chose this restaurant because of it's atmosphere and the wonderful reviews we had read. When spending the amount of money this type of restaurant charges, I expect to have a un-rushed, leisurley experience. Instead, we were in and out in just over an hour, and unhappy with the whole experience because of it. Unacceptable in our opinion!!"

"The food was to par for an establishment with the 31-50 dollar price. However portions were really small. Would suggest that they up the veggies a bit to compensate. Overall they were very friendly and personable, I felt at home. If I could afford to go more often I would. Our bill with no alcohol was 65 ish, with tip around $75."

"The food was outstanding but one of the servers did something very inappropriate. He brought a salad to our table and placed it in front of one of our party. We had ordered the salad but another table had the same order and instead of leaving the salad after about 60 seconds he returned to our table , removed it from one of our party and simply placed it in front of another guest at another table. Not a word spoken nor any apology."

"I will sound like a tourist here, but here it goes. I was in NOLA for the first time and only for 1 and a half days. I found this restaurant on tripadvisor and decided on it based on the reviews and because they use only fresh local ingredients. We had a lovely dinner there only disrupted somewhat by intoxicated guests at the next table....not the restaurant's fault at all. The food was fresh and delicious, I had gulf fish which I assume was local. But here it is....this restaurant could be in any city, and NOLA has such a phenomenal culture of great cuisine, my husband and I thought it should have had a stronger representation in the menu at Iris."

"The restaurant did not match its location. The restaurant belongs on Magazine St. or Riverbend area. Wait Staff was not familiar with the entire menu, they could not speak to the menu only to their personal experience. When I asked about a main dish I was told "I don't know much about it, I've never had it, even though I should know it." I had similar response when asking about the wine. The wine menu was too big for this restaurant.
The food was very good,I reccomend the sweetbreads for a starter.

"Had a great meal at Iris, the server was very attentive. My drink (Basil Cucumber Martini) was refreshing. Started with the Bruschetta which was a nice portion and delicious. I then had the Gulf Shrimp which was really outstanding and my dinner partner had the roasted chicken which was moist and flavorful. We sat outside in the courtyard. Overall a very wonderful experience and I will be back.!"

"a wonderful evening at iris. the bar is quiet and the bartenders are as good as they get. could not have been friendlier or more helpful. we were seated on time, the fish and duck were outstanding, the wine that was suggested was wonderful, a simply great experience. the restaurant is small, intimate yet quiet."

"I believe that we would have had a better experience if we would have gone on a Wednesday night. We were the only couple ordering when we were there, but somehow, my wife's ordered was messed up, even though the server recommended the dish. The food was good and tasty and different, but it turned into a long night due to the error. The desserts were also very good."

"We had a reservation for 4 persons. Two cancelled. They tried to switch us to a teeny tiny two top table. I asked why couldn't we just have the 4 top (we saw other 4 tops occupied by only 2 persons). he said something about there might not be availability. But had we had 4 people the same table would have been available.
The worst thing was the menu. We were there at 7:l5 and the fish selection was out already. Mahimahi. Substituted with drum. How could they be out of fish so early in the eve? Unless they never had mahimahi to begin with. Good food but it will be a while before we return."

"I chose Iris for my boyfriend's birthday dinner, and I was so glad I did! They were nice enough to put birthday confetti on the table and even brought a candle with dessert. The atmosphere was wonderful, service was great, and food was amazing! It was a mature crowd, so the restaurant was very quiet and romantic, not overcrowded which was great since we were in New Orleans. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to have a special evening!"

"We went based on the reviews on Open Table. The staff was very helpful, Eric recommended a bottle of wine that was not on the wine list and it was terrific. He stopped by the table a couple times to make sure everything was going well. The food was fantastic, the overall experience was very positive, the pace was a little on the slow side which made for a leisurely evening. We have already recommended Iris to others."

"I did not realize they close at 2pm to end lunch on Friday's. Nor did I realize the lunch menu is dynamic so I came prepared to order Foie Gras and Octopus neither were featured on the day of my visit. One small caveat is the restaurant has now update the website to highlight this important information. Thus I had to eat alone my business partner was just arriving at the airport at 1:30p and now I had to reset and actually read the menu. No worries.
The ~Prixe Fixe lunch is $20.00. I decided to start with the Lamb Meatballs; 3 huge balls that were delectable. I managed to enjoy the savor of one. My second course consisted of a Duck Confit salad. It was flavorful but over cooked for my taste buds. I like my duck tender.
