"They never disappoint at Chef Geoff's! I called two days ahead and was able to move up my reservation. The food was awesome- as usual- and the service was outstanding. There were many runners after the Nike Half Marathon and it was a great place to celebrate finishing the race."

"If I were to have rated the food, it would had been a 5 but I have to include the service so I got brought down to a 2. We waited so long for a waiter to come to even take our drink orders. No nice greeting "How are you today?" or even his name! No one checked on us to see how things were going. Our drinks got down to the end with no refill. And I had to find another waiter to pay the bill just to get out of there and I saw other people doing that as well. It was mother's day so this was a special event but I was very disappointed. The food however was amazing. The brunch menu was excellent with great choices and the portions were abundant.
Bottom line: I will unfortunately not be recommending this place unless you go to the bar."

"We had a great brunch here. The menu was diverse enough that everyone was able to find something that they liked, and the portions were good. The gouda grits were among the best grits I've had (the portion was very generous, too). The one low spot was one of our party ordered a soda that did not come out with the other drinks, and had to ask two additional times for the beverage before it was brought out (about halfway through the meal)."

"Had a nice going away lunch for 8 and was able to get in and out within an hour-great service and good food. More vegetarian options would be nice, but they have a bean burger as well as pizzas. Look out for early in the week specials on food all day (and happy hours the rest of the week). Overall a very solid neighborhood choice for a sit-down restaurant. Happy hour can be very crowded but they have good food and drink specials."

"We really enjoy Chef Geoff's, but this time we happened to come for brunch on a Sunday morning after the Nike Women's Marathon. STAY AWAY when this place is crowded. My family and I had to yell at each other (literally) to be heard and it was horrible. We were tucked in the little back room where noise bounces around like none other. Next time I'm going to request that we not sit in that awful back room."

"We were excited to try Chef Geoff's on a friend's recommendation. It was very lively with a fun atmosphere, but we were escorted back to a smaller room with another couple and a family with children. Our waitress was nice, but not completely attentive, and we wished we had been closer to the other patrons. We decided to focus on drinks, apps and dessert with great success. The crab cakes and calamari were excellent, and the duck confit was ok--the sauce overwhelmed the duck in our minds. We each ordered a set of ice creams/sorbets for dessert, and my lemongrass, pistachio and maple were amazing. We would go again, but I would ask to be in the main room."

"This was our second time visiting Chef Geoff's Downtown. Our 7:45 reservations were promptly honored and we were seated in a nice, intimate booth. Our host didn't provide a drink menu, just a minor misstep to begin, but it was easily overcome when we mentioned it to our waitress who arrived within 2 minutes of our having been seated. I opted for the Vesper Martini (gin, vodka, lillet blanc, lemon zest), which was really refreshing. We were a little disappointed that the menu hadn't changed much in the year and a half since our last visit, but we enjoyed everything we had. Caution to those looking for a leisurely dining experience: the kitchen closes at 10PM--by the time we were ready for desert at 9:50 we were pushing it."

"Very crowded on a Saturday night but we had made a reservation so no problem being seated shortly after we arrived. Portions are very large so the excellent soup and entree (shrimp and grits) would have been plenty. But we also ordered the Mediterranean Trio appetizer which was almost a meal in itself. "Our experience was excellent. Our server Josh was knowledgable and attentive. He asked if we were attending a show after diner and receiving our affirmative reply Josh ensured that our meal was delivered at an appropriate pace (we had an early reservation) but that we were finished at just the right time. The food was excellent. Calamari as good as I have been served in New England. The Saffron Risotto and Sesame Encrusted Tuna were prepared to perfection. We tried Geoff's riff on "Pimms Cup" and that too was most enjoyable. Going to the Warner Theater or another nearby venue? Try Chef Geoff's Downtown for an excellent pre-show meal."

"We had a 6:30PM dinner reservation and an 8:00PM show at the Warner Theater (across the street). We ordered promptly but barely made the show on time. Despite the waiter's assurance our meals were just minutes away, our meals arrived at 7:40PM and 7:45PM. The meals looked appealing but the taste was flat (but maybe that was because we had to sprint through dinner.This is our second visit w/the same result. No third visit planned.PS-Noise: loud ... Loud ... LOUD would be the appropriate description, not energetic."
