"The food and service was excellent. A great view of the city both day or night. Reservation required and business casual dress recommended. It is a great place to go for special occasions or fine dinning."

"This restaurant is in a beautiful, historic building and the decor is outstanding. The food was fabulous. Several of us had the pork osso buco which was served over collard greens and apples. The pork was so tender and the greens were slightly spicy and delicious.
Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone."

"I was there on a saturday nite, bar was very busy, dining room not so much, but I attribute that to the fact that it is not an "IN" restaurant and attracts the hotel crowd and those looking for a cool spot and great food without the attraction of the latest iron chef or deconstructed interior. An escape to location with a great menu."

"Had a great graduation dinner there. Great views of sunset and the city with pre-dinner drinks. Food was tasty but a bit overpriced. Lobster risotto and scallops were favorites. Complimentary dessert for the graduate. We were a three generation group with an infant in tow and there were no problems. And server, Max was very accommodating."

"We loved the place immediately. Location and view is superb, outstanding. Menu is very simple and clear, no confusions. Adam manager is great, his expressions and talking alone sounds like celebration of your presence. The waiters are so friendly and professional. Their outfit is not like regular servers'. I strongly recommend going there. It definitely is worth whether you would celebrate your anniversary, your first date, or just any special event in your life, please do go there. That's the best place to be!"

"Better than I expected... The appetizer &dessert courses are laid out in a buffet style, open to you as soon as you place your order for the main course. I had the steak, which came with a side of tomato& corn salsa. The portion was quite small ( i would say about 2-3 oz of steak)... But theres a lot if appetizers and dessert items so youcertainly wont be left hungry. The food was good, and i tried the mandrin mimosa which was decent. Probably wont be back unless they offer new entree items."

"Nineteen (XIX) is hard to find, but it is fantastic in every way. I'm a foodie. I even build vacations around world-class restaurants on my "bucket list". XIX is not on that list, so am I ever surprised. The staff is almost anticipatory. These folks are ladies and gentlemen, and the responses they get from the diners creates a pleasant atmosphere from another era. The food is absolutely first rate. It is creative without being experimental, classically prepared and presented beautifully. The wine list is a little light, but there is at least one good pairing with everything on the menu. Lastly, compared to NYC, SF and DC, the prices were frankly a bargain. XIX is my new "go to" restaurant when I'm in town."

"Th service is great and drinks were good too. The menu was not too broad, but nice. My steak was very good and cooked as I ordered. My husbands pork was good but we had heard the short ribs are even better. Desserts were nothing to write home about, but was decent."

"My party of four had a wonderful brunch this Sunday. We started with pastries, a help yourself raw bar, and some some tasty salads. After that it was on to the entrees which were delivered promptly by our server Anowar. We finished with some delicious desserts and coffee.
The views were amazing, and the pace of the brunch couldn't have been better. We felt so comfortable, we didn't want to leave."

"My friend and I loved this lunch. It was her birthday and first time here. We had the 3-course buffet and it was perfect. Our server was attentive, the room was bright and gorgeous, and it was not loud and noisy. The best place in town for a relaxing lunch with conversation."

"This is a wonderful place to meet friends. Nobody rushes you. The food and service are excellent. You can order from the menu or select the buffet. The buffet has an assortment of salads and meets and cheeses and miniature desserts. You choose an entree with choices of fish, pasta, a wrap, and meet. The fish is always great."

"Went a few days after Mother's day with parents, wife, and 2 yr old. Impeccable service. I am a steak affeciando and have been to the top steakhouses in/around Philly (Morton's, Prime Rib, Ruth Chris, Smith and Wollensky, Barclay, Butcher and SInger, etc.). The ribeye at XIX was simply the best ribeye I have *ever* had. Prior to the entree I had shrimp cocktail and calamari. Shrimp cocktail was standard, calamari was so light it almost nearly melts in your mouth (and that's impressive with calamari!). I would say it ties with Morimoto for the best calamari. Very kid friendly, incredible views of the city and New Jersey. Small outdoor patio with a few tables for outdoor dining. If I wanted outdoor dining in Philly, this would be the place."

"See note to restaurant for more. This was a wonderful experience! Yes, the food was really good and the service excellent, etc. What made the night was the effort made by the entire staff to give us a wonderfully leisurely, quiet, private and intimate dining experience. It was as if we were the only people in the room...thank you. This was/is much appreciated and will bring us and our friends back for more of your delicious menu (we had the shrimp and the venison)."

"All of our dishes, from octopus, crab cake and XIX salads to start, then short ribs, venison and salmon for mains, were exceptionally good. I have come here over the years and find the food decent but the room beautiful and charming. But on this night the food was superb! Service was frenetic, but improved once they discovered no one was waiting on us. (The front of house is chaotic and often confused.)"

"This is a wonderful spot for a slight splurge for lunch. The food is wonderful, with nice variety. The staff is lovely and attentive without being annoying. The setting is beautiful. I have treated many friends to lunch here for birthdays and other special occasions, and all my friends know that any time they'd like to treat me, XIX is the place to go. "The place is gorgeous, great for a romantic night. The food was good, but nothing to be excited about. We tried calamari n mussels for starters both were very good Our entrees(flank steak and ribeye were good but not great) I love leaving a high-end place such as this restaurant, raving and wanting to come back. Or waiter was also just ok."

"I brought a corporate group of 10 here as a celebratory event and the night was perfect. The bar scene is very vibrant and fun (I would return just for drinks!). We had a great table in the main dining room with wonderful service. I noticed there are 2 private rooms for groups off of the main hallway which would be fun but they don't give you the wonderful view and atmostphere of the main dining area. Everyone was very happy with their food choices, from the seafood to the steaks to the desserts. 10 people with appetizers, entrees, desserts, and plenty of talking in between still got in and out within 2.5 hours without feeling rushed. Impressive! I will return and would recommend to others."

"Had lunch buffet with hot item from kitchen. All three of us feelt thee quality of thee kitchen prepared item had deteriorated markedly from previous visit 3 months ago for lunch.
Our service was so bad the host had to bus our table twice.
We will probably visit one more time because of location and ambiance and hope management pays the attention necessary to return to high standards."

"This place never fails to disappoint. The only area for improvement is waiting for coffee when you've gotten your desserts. If you want coffee, be sure to place your order when your entrees are served. The coffee is outstanding as well - but almost a separate course. enjoy."

"We like Nineteen-XIX for pre-theatre, opera or concert dining in an elegant setting. This time, I had the terrific octopus appetizer followed by a wonderfully-sauced whole brook trout, while my wife had the salmon. Both were delicious and nicely served. Our peeve with the restaurant is the skimpy pours of wines by the glass. I doubt either of us got more than 3 oz., if that, of average house wine."

"We went here for my cousin's bachelorette party dinner. Everyone loved the decor and the view of the Philadelphia sunset. It was gorgeous. The food was good. The group ordered the salmon, deconstructed pork, calamari, salad, and lobster risotto. Everything tasted delicious, except the pork dish. It was a bit dry. The girls also ordered a moscato white wine, a rubytini, and a mojito. The drinks were perfect. Our server was friendly and attentive so that made our dining experience enjoyable."

"I'm fine with high prices for the food, but parking is incredibly difficult and their "validated" parking only takes it from $38 to $30. Parking is never worth that, no matter what the occasion. That put me in a bad mood throughout the meal."

"The Great Gatsby would not have been out of place here. They don't make graceful rooms like this anymore. A truly lavish, but not over-done space. They gave us a table at a window with a fabulous view of William Penn on top of City Hall.
Very good food. One person in our party wanted crab cakes as an entrée even though it was listed as an appetizer. Our well-prepared waiter quickly solved the problem by offering to bring out a double-appetizer portion at an appropriate price."
