In addition to entertaining, contemporary cuisine, Le Local restaurant offers a unique urban concept. Located at the heart of Old Montreal, in a building that still resonates with echoes of the past, the restaurant boasts a spectacularly large dining room and terraces which can seat up to 170 people. An interesting blend of rustic and modern, the stunning decor combines concrete, steel, brick and glass to breathtaking effect.
"Food was awesome but service was Fair at best. I was entertaining a group of business clients...I couldn't get anyone at the bar to pay attention, they dried glasses and chatted with each other in front of me. A male patron at the bar who I did not know finally asked them if they were going to serve me. Once we had drinks and were seated at our table this attitude remained firmly in place. I found a level of disdain and indifference from the serving staff that I have not seen in a long time. Very disappointing and too bad because the food was above average."

"Was visiting Montreal and made reservations at Le Local based on the positive reviews I have read. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice. I was surprised by all the different rooms. It is quite loud but we were given a table in a corner which wasn't too loud. The presentation of the food was very creative and it all tasted delicious. I ordered the Artic Char and it was perfectly cooked. Others with me had the chicken and said it was delicious. The only thing I would like to see changed is their dessert menu - which seemed quite small to me. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to others."

"Good experience but we a bit overated. Greeted by a hostess wearing jeans, actually all personnel wore jeans! Unfortunately because of the open kitchen, smell and smoke coming from the kitchen all evening. Food was good except for the beef flank which was well cooked but stringy. Glad to have been but do not expect to return."

"Very nice restaurant in an interesting space. The food was fantastic, though if I had one complaint it might be that the presentation (which was great) sometimes made the dish awkward to eat. The noise level where we sat wasn't bad, but we could notice that the people sitting near the open kitchen had to lean in to talk to each other. Great atmosphere overall. Excellent wine list with helpful recommendations."

"Great menu and outstanding wine list. Service attentive and friendly. Ambience great with good music (maybe a tad loud near the speakers). Food was excellent from start to finish. Of note, the beet salad, the crab cake and beef carpaccio starters were perfect. The entree portions were on the large size so would definitely share next time. Flank steak was cooked to perfection. Of course dessert could not be ignored. Shared Rocky Road and the Caramel espresso ganache. Not a bite was left between 4 of us. Only negative was the temperature where we were sitting. Next to patio doors it was not warm. Will definitely be going back."

"We had a reservation at 9:30, it took a while for the waiter to explain the specials and then he left to serve a table of 12 so after 30 minutes we asked the sommelier to take our order which he did and it worked out pretty well, they never offered bread."

"The food was amazing, my party and I waited more than 10 mins before we were actually served, but in their defense it was a packed night and attention was required. Once we got our drinks and the our arrived, there really wasn't much to complain about. The food was great, the clientele was chic and the drinks were amazing (Tokyo Express). I will be returning soon"

"A really high energy restaurant with an appealing menu. We had made reservations 2 weeks ahead of time and had noted it was a birthday, so surprised and a bit disappointed to be sitting in the lounge for dinner and not the dining room. I guess you have to specify dining room when making resos. The service was great until the end of the meal when it took 20 minutes to be asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu, and then another 15 minutes to come back for our order. By that time we decided to leave instead of ordering dessert and coffees. Overall, a great atmosphere and I would go back."

"This is the 6th time I have eaten here and it never fails to impress. The waiters are friendly, knowledgeable and present without being in your face. Shared appetizers of a falafel crab cake and a tartlet of Brie and squash - yummy. I had the Cornish hen which was crisp and tender; the others opted for the liver, which was served as a filet of steak - thick and tender. Looking forward to going back for our next visit."

"This was a wonderful first time experience. The exposed brick walls, high ceilings and open kitchen concept make for a very New York feel and ambience. I was a little worried at first since our table was located right beside the kitchen, but after a few minutes, it blended into the atmosphere and we stopped noticing it was there at all. In fact, it even served to enhance the ambience. Seeing the chefs hard at work creating edible artworks. The food was fantastic. We were four diners who each ordered something different and we were all amazed at how beautifully the food was presented and how delicious it was. On Saturday night, the ambience was, although noisy, a lot of fun. We will definitely be returning."

"Everything was amazing as always, the only thing that could be improuved was that the coffee took too long to come to the table. It should be served with the dessert."

"Lied about the relative price of wine. Isolated location. Slow and unresponsive. We were seated in the bar area with a reservation. We wouldn't go back or recommend."
