This neighborhood favorite has re-opened in its new home on South End Avenue, just a short block from the Hudson River Esplanade with views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and one block away from the World Trade Center. The massive renovation in the World Financial center caused South West NY to close its doors in the World Financial Center, but now guests can enjoy the new modernized space along with SouthWest's familiar warm hospitality and vibrant atmosphere. The menu highlights the bold, fresh flavors of contemporary South Western cuisine. Favorites include Mojo Marinated Skirt Steak, Cedar Planked Salmon and Rio Grande salad. The bar features SouthWest's signature Margaritas and 16 oz Mojitos, and over 35 tequilas, Heat lamps on the outdoor patio and terrace allow outdoor dining in all but the chilliest weather.
"We were five in our party, those who ordered eggs & salad enjoyed their meals while the folks who went for the french toast and pancakes were disappointed. The French toast was actually burned and had to be sent back and the pancakes, while generous in size & portion (3 GIANT) the were bone dry. Our waitress was beautiful, sweet and attentive when she could be. She had to work the entire back side of the restaurant on her own which was frustrating considering their were two people working the door. If they were staffing up the door with hostesses expecting a crowd, why not have more staff serving? Overall, it was a fair experience and I would give this restaurant another shot at getting it right."

"When we arrived at SouthWest - it seems the entire restaurant was sold out for a private party. We were taken to a beautiful private room! There were 6 of us and we were thrilled! The room was perfect. We had a wonderful time. As always - great food and service!! We could not have been happier!!"

"If you work in Battery Park City, this is such a nice change from all the other food available in the area! Try the veggie burger on arepa, a refreshingly new dish."

"Came here on a Saturday afternoon. Got seated right away. We ordered the shrimp tacos and the mahi mahi tacos. Both were good, but a little expensive considering all you got were 2 tacos. No sides, not even a small side salad. Plate just consisted of 2 tacos and at $16-$18, just seemed pricey. We also ordered the corn on the cob appetizer. It was $8. I asked the waitress how many pieces come in it, she said 3 or 4 pieces. But when we got the plate, it was actually just one piece of corn cut into 3 pieces. $8 for one corn? I love good food, and never mind spending, but this was overpriced."

"It was so noisy that we had to get our meal to go and take it home. This was annoying as we went to celebrate a birthday. Not sure I would go again due to the noise level and that kids were allowed to run all over the place. You could not even hear each other talking."

"I booked at SWNY because I had been in years past when it was located right on the water with a spectacular view. The food was always acceptable, but it was the view and the atmosphere that made me want to come back. I didn't find any warning on the website that they had changed locations, so it was an unpleasant surprise.
Very lively atmosphere so not the best place for intimate conversation.
Food and cocktails were pretty good - I loved the mushroom and goat cheese quesadilla. Service was quick and courteous, and they were able to seat us outside without a wait."

"This is the first time we patronized the establishment since it moved from other location in World Financial Center. My entire party was very happy with the decor, waiting staff and food. We thought the food was very very good."

"Had a good experience,a bit noisy but that was ok as it was lively , food wise everything was good except the appetizer which was a multi cheese type fondue with soft tortias - it was extremely salty in fact we couldn't eat more than a bite, other than that everything was good and the mango creme brûlée which I had reservations about before I ordered, thinking it would be too sweet was in fact amazing."

"I was disappointed that they have moved from the waterfront/water view to a new location around the corner...their old site was much more interesting, and open...this seemed a bit cramped...but, as always, the food was GREAT (and really, don't you want better food anyway??)...we also had someone needing gluten-free diet, and the chef was able to design one of the dishes to accomodate her needs...great food...!...great service...!..."
