"It's a different night out. The setting is exotic and the menu is interesting. The belly dancing is superfluous and just a noisy distraction however it is time limited. The food promised more than it delivered. Our appetizers sounded interesting but just weren't that tasty. The short ribs looked great but the meat could have been more tender. The dessert was terrific. Our service was excellent.
Parking is difficult and valet is the best bet @ $15. We opted for regular chairs at a table rather the low-seated "Moroccan" arrangement which was uncomfortable. We did not try the downstairs smoking "Hookah" lounge although it did look like fun. I'd go for a return visit just for the novelty of it all."

"A tremendous find. Wonderful service and exceptional food. All in all a fantastic experience. We will be back often to this Charlestown Gem.
They had a traditional Morocan menu as well as a modern French equivalent. Very well done. Served with style and enjoyed by all four in the party. Each of us ordered a different dish and all were pleased."

"So, I was asked on a second date and I wanted him to really enjoy it. On the first date he mentioned he loved hookah so....that was my master plan - find a nice hookah spot. Well, to my surprise, the Boston area is infested with extremely low budget hookah bars that look equivalent to middle eastern crack houses. Then, I come across Tangerinos website. Pictures caught my eye immediately. They have a floor layout so you can plan ahead where you'll sit, a menu with a very good selection of wine, cocktails, and food, as well as a nice variety of cigars and hookah Flavors. The staff was great. Food was great. Drinks were great. I'm planning my next visit there. Awesome place"

"After being seated, we waited over 15 minutes without getting water or having a server come by. There were a lot of servers walking past us and simply not noticing us. Finally we went back up to the front and were told that nobody had been assigned to our table. Then the service picked up through ordering dinner. However, it was a birthday celebration and we wanted more drinks and desert and it took close to 50 minutes after we finished eating before we got another drink or desert. It was simply the worst service ever. The food was pretty good - not worth the service nightmare."

"Very friendly wait staff (but slow), excellent food, interesting menu - but they were out of lots of things - were in the middle of rewriting the menu so some things weren't available, so it took awhile to actually decide what to order. Lovely decor with wonderful cozy and romantic curtained nooks. We had a very enjoyable experience and would go back."

"Ambiance is definitely great in Tangerino and our table had rose pedals on it:) I thought that our host was a bit too serious and I was also surprised to be carded when we went from the restaurant down to the bar. Again, the guy checking our ids was way too serious. Our Russian waitress was really nice and she was knowledgeable. The appetizers were very tasty (we had the Eggplant tagine and the lamb in filo dough). They were smaller than usual appetizers, but it wasn't a surprise since I read other people's reviews and that was mentioned. For us the size was fine and left us hungry enough for more food. IT was a bit disappointing because they didn't serve the brochettes anymore, but the monk fish special and the lemony chicken made up for i"

"What's good? The décor. What's mediocre? The food. What's terrible? The service.
We went here for my gf's birthday. She ordered the trio, a combo of chicken, lamb and shrimp. Only lamb was delivered. When we inquired, the waitress explained that they weren't offering the trio that night. Now that is information that would be helpful to know before ordering. At that point we expected the waitress to make amends, but she simply said the lamb was delicious and walked away. At the least, I thought they would take the item off the bill. Nope. They charged us $35 for a meal we didn't want, and clearly did not eat. Awful service."

"This is my third time to Tangierino. I must say that the food was very good--even better than I remembered! We order the salmon tagine, Moroccan eggplant, vegetable couscous, asaparagus with za'atar and aromatic mushrooms. Aromatic mushrooms were nothing special but the rest was very tasty. I especially like the olives and chumus served before our meal.
However, this time, I think that they were understaffed. The whole night took about 3.25 hours. When we arrived (after having a reservation) we weren't seated for 40 minutes or so. Then, it took a long time to order (we had to ask one of the waitstaff to send us back our waiter).

"My husband and I went to celebrate a milestone birthday -- I wanted atmosphere and there was plenty of it! Loved the textiles and Moroccan style decor - sexy even w/o the belly dancers who I loved as well. Our server was attentive (but not overly) and helpful w/ the menu. As far as the dishes we ordered, I would say they were solid but not memorable. The tuna tartare was good and the eggplant (main dish) was quite good. The restaurant was in the midst of changing their menu and the two dishes I would have ordered (both curries) were no longer available. Oh well.

"The lamb dishes were amazing. Unique live entertainment occured during our meal courtesy of the belly dancers. The indian music playing in the background was a little odd though - the atmosphere could have been more authentic with moroccan music instead. But the food and atmosphere was amazing overall (although the dishes are quite pricey)!"

"while the ambiance has the potential to be romantic the room we were seated in was far from it. starting with tables that were too low an average height person would be unable to even get their legs comfortably under. There were other rooms and different tables but despite what you request you get seated where they want. they are a very busy restaurant so aside from the height of the table, you are also way too close to other tables which just causes an uncomfortable meal dining too close for comfort with strangers. The food is excellent though, and if you come in a big group, the have more secluded booth sections for large groups that seemed to be a far better way to enjoy the meal."

"The food is outstanding, service is courteous and friendly, and Saturday nights, there are very enthusiastic belly dancers! Definitely the place to go for a fun night out with friends. Just beware the belly dancers if you're on the shy side - they don't take no for an answer. ;)"

"The food was very good and the server gave us helpful recommendations. We did not experience any problems with the service or a wait for our reserved table as other reviewers had claimed. The food is a bit pricey, but the quality was good. The major negative is that the belly dancing does not enhance the dining experience at all. When the dancers are performing, the restaurant dims the lights so much that you can barely see. Plus they turn up the music so loud that you can no longer have a conversation at your table. The dancers are only near any given table for 5 minutes or so, but you have to suffer with the noise and darkness for significantly longer (20-30 minutes) as the dancers go around the entire restaurant."

"Found Tangierino after jogging past it the other day.
A pleasantly cavernous journey precedes your arrival at a group nest or a mismatched chair and table. Multiple things are off the menu, but the things we had were a joy. The shrimp starter was substantial and flavoursome. I had the cod and risotto special that presented me with two pucks that in the light appeared exactly the same and selectively obscured by brushes of fresh arugula. Happily they presented two wonderfully cooked textures built to support the Fibonacci-esque inter-costal muscles of that rare cod.
Heather had the royal cous-cous, consisting of the old world cous cous bolstered with a tender joint of lamb and a well received spanicopita'd chunk of minced lamb."

"We had long-time reservations for a group of six adults. We were given multiple reassurances and excuses as to why our table was not ready, some seemed sincere, some not. We were finally seated 90 minutes later, after being told No offer was made for a round of dessert or drinks, and we were given seats so dark that it made reading the menu, and even enjoyably watching the bellydancers, totally impossible. We used our flashlight apps and a tiny flashlight for the menus and virtually ignored the dancers. In addition, the table service was just polite, not attentive. Water was not refilled, drinks were rarely checked, the table was poorly cleared, and the check took upwards of 15" to take care of - at which time we were in an enormous hurry."

"The prices are higher than can be justified by the quality of the food. The food is good to very good but a lot of what justified the prices was the fun of trying something new -- the uniquenss of the menu and the "exotic" decor. The belly dancing was disappointing. Because of the way each table or group of tables is surrounded by drapes/walls/etc. you can only see the dancers when they're right near your table. So you see them for only a few minutes as they work their way around the room. Also, since they're dancing in the aisles between tables, there isn't enough room for them to do much dancing. The noise level is reasonable except during the dancing when the loudness of the music makes it difficult to converse."

"We found the food to be fabulous! Service was very good. Wish we could have had a "tent" seat, as those looked great, but I believe they are tough to get on a weekend: best if you go with a group of friends to get those (or go during the week). Belly dancing was a nice plus as well. Valet service was appreciated in Charlestown. Highly recommended!"

"We had to wait 45 mins for our table even though we made a reservation through OpenTable. We were not even offered free drinks or desert after the long wait.
The food is fabulous and the ambiance is great but the long wait for our online reserved table and lack of consideration tinted what otherwise would have been otherwise a terrific dining the experience."

"We visited Tangierinos for my best friend,s milestone birthday, the atmosphere was beautiful & awesome! The food beyond fabulous, hot & delicious! The drink menus are vast & we tried some new delicious blended drinks. The lounge/Hookah bar was exciting fun & energetic! We can not wait to return! The goal was to do something unexpected and fun~with the only expectation to do something special~ the staff did an amazing job & made my friend's bday one she will never forget! Me either! Note; the staff was a bit rushed but we have difficulty making choices- the staff was patient and gave wonderful suggestions!"

"Upon arriving the valet mentioned that the lot was full, however took another car that was arriving....inconsistent service. Was there to celebrate my Dad's birthday. Mentioned it as a comment on Open Table, to the hostess upon arriving and had to inform the server, as no gesture nor was there any genuine greeting made to my father for his birthday. Should have sent over a complimentary dessert with a candle without having me ask for it and pay for it. I manage a hotel, and this is done as a gesture."
