Once a grand saloon in the thriving mining camp of Telluride, The Cosmopolitan is now home to the fresh, innovative creations of Chad Scothorn, who has received national attention and praise for his original, fresh approach to food preparation. Serving dinner nightly, this elegantly simple 80 seat restaurant is located in the newly remodeled luxurious Hotel Columbia at the base of the Gondola. Known locally as "the Cosmo", the custom cherry wood bar is the perfect place to unwind.

"Took a client and his family here for dinner. We had a group of eight and I couldn't have been happier with the experience. This is the best 4-5 star restaurant in Telluride. Food and service was great from start to finish. We were coming from Mountain Village and the access is extremely easy from the gondola. I would definitely book here again, either for a romantic dinner with my wife or for another larger group.
I give the ambiance 3 stars because we were located in the back in something that looked like a fabric covered structure. It didn't detract from the evening, but it was noticeable if you looked up."

"We had an amazing dinner. We were first seated at interior table, but were moved to a window table on request. The shrimp and calamari appetizer was delicious, ceased salad is a must!!! We had the surf and turf, duck two ways and lamb. All three were 5 star dishes and truly fabulous. We tried two desserts, creme brûlée and the coconut dish. Again, both delicious. The coconut was very unique, with a French influence and a must try. They have a solid wine list and a top notch 20 year tawny port. This was our first time dining at Cosmos and will be back.

"Cosmo continues to be the best of Telluride. In 2013, there is now a lot of competition for #1 but Cosmo continues to edge out the best of the rest. Time after time, the fish is exeptional -- carefully selected, imaginatively presented and perfectly cooked. Don't miss the calamari and shrimp starter with its sweet and sour sauce. Calling out the fish is not to suggest that the rest of the menu is any less superb. It's just a wonderful experience. A signficant shout out to the work manager Phil Armstrong has done over his two seasons here and to the always smiling, always attentive serving staff. There are a handful of now really good restaurants, but stop here to see the best."

"I have dined at the Cosmopolitan several times. This visit was dissapointing. The Mahi Mahi special was over cooked relative to expectation making the fish very dry. The rack of lamb was a very "pretty" dish but only average in taste. My other visits have been very good,but this was not a goodnight for us."

"We have made it a point to come here at least once every time we're back in town. Always a great food experience. While the waiting area can get crowded at times, you'll probably run into a few guests of the hotel walking back in or out with their puppies, as well. A nice distraction.

"We have been to Cosmo many times throughout the years, but we stopped going as we got bored with the menu. Recently our friends told us a new chef was in town and had turned the menu around in the past two years. We decided to give it a try. There is now delicious sushi on the menu yet something for everyone... chicken, steak, creative fish dishes. We were very pleased with the experience."

"We dine at Cosmo everytime we are in Telluride (3-4) times per year. Lindsay is an outstanding server---knowledable, patient and charming with our big groups. LOVED the seared tuna with jasmine rice. The duck breast was aso a big hit."

"Four of us made our annual stop at Cosmo for our "last supper" before we headed home. As always the food was well prepared and presented. The salmon, lamb chops, and beef filet were all cooked perfectly. The duck soup was well done, and the beet salad continues to be an escellent option. The service was a little uneven. At this price point, I would not expect the waiter to also be responsible for clearing the table. It is a time consuming task, especially when responsible for large tables. The front of the house didn't seem as organized as usual. The hostess was working hard and seemed to know how to run the front, the host on the other hand, I think he was more of a hinderence than a help to her."

"Food was delicious and plating very attractive. A bit noisy. Service was fair....waitperson not especially attentive. It was a special occasion for us and we were asked to note if it was in our reservation.......but we were disappointed that the restaurant didn't pay any attention to that except when we left, someone said "Happy Birthday"."

"We celebrated a birthday with our family of six and thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience. We all had appetizers and entrees, all of which were excellent. We also had two bottles of wine. The bill for the 6 of us before tip was $420.00. The sushi was fresh and well made, the calamari and shrimp were fried beautifully and topped with a tasty slaw type sauce. The salads with fete filled buffalo sheesh was tasty but milder than expected. The special fish was extremely flavorful as we're the other entrees, including a very tasty surf and turf. The service was spot on, well informed and attentive without being intrusive. We recommend this restaurant without hesitation."
