Coyote Crossing - Conshohocken

Colorful decor combined with authentic Mexican cuisine. A lively atmosphere at the crossroads of elegant & casual dining. The warm ambiance extends outdoors to the constellation of lights surrounding the heated patio. A flavorful menu offers traditional selections as well as old family recipes. Owner & chef Carlos Melendez has created an authentic blend of Southwestern & Mexican dishes served in a casual, friendly atmosphere. Combining classic recipes from his homeland with artful preparations handed down from his beloved Abuelita's kitchen (grandmother Elena Coello), Coyote Crossing has something for everyone.

"One of the most over priced places I have ever eaten. 28 dollars for a chicken burrito, refried beans, and a low grade cut of beef is laughable. Food was ok but very disappointing when you see the prices and expectations are not met."

"We had an 8 pm reservation, which I called that day to confirm. Some of our party even arrived 15 minites early. we were seated at 8:35. It was so dark that we couldn't read the menus. Service was very bad. The outside dining though is lovely and the food was good. I will give it another chance."

"I live the food at Coyote Crossing -- but I gelt a bit rushed. I think during the week it is a more relaxed atmoshere. This particualr Satirday night was very crowded and I felt like we were in and out of there and not much time to really relax."

"They have a great outdoor courtyard area. The weather was perfect the night we went for dinner. Good crowd for a Wednesday night but not jam packed. Food was excellent. Maybe the best calamari I have ever had. The guacomole is a must. Scallops were a bit spicy for my wife but I thought they were good. I had the house special, Tampiquena, and it was delicious. Our kids enjoyed the outside fountains. I would definitely go back."

"Went here based on other Open Table reviews and we were very pleased. Had an early dinner on a Friday night (6:30p) and the food was great, service quick and a beautiful night to sit outside before the crowd got here. The outdoor "happy hour" bar crowd was building as it got closer to 8, but it wasn't overly loud and there were equal numbers of families and singles/couples. We would definitely go back."

"We went to Coyote Crossing with friends who wanted Mexican food. The outdoor area was packed with college age kids drinking from margarita dispensers. The music blasting from the speakers was so loud it was impossible to eat outside. Thus, we were relegated to the indoor dining room, which had all of the ambience of a nursing home cafeteria. The service was quite possibly the worst I have ever had. We ordered drinks and were kept waiting literally 20 minutes. A young boy came around twice trying to bring us drinks that weren't ours. The server apologized, saying the bar was "packed". I could see the bar, and there were no more than 6 people there. The food was downright awful. Ugh!"

"The food is very good and the outdoor dining scene unmatched for the area, but service is consistently poor at Coyote Crossing. Multiple requests for menus, drinks and other items ordered (and arriving at sporadic intervals) necessary. I suppose management doesn't care as long as people keep coming in for the setting."

"Each time I eat here, the food gets better and better. The food not only taste good, but the portions are very generous, but try to save room for dessert. The tres leche cake was moist and tasty. This time we got to enjoy the drinks and the frozen margaritas were smooth and fantastic with plenty of tequila. I would go back just for the drinks. I live I'm NJ, but this place is worth the drive and easy to find.
p.s. Even though we were there on one of the busiest days of the year for a Mexican restaurant (Cinco de Mayo and my birthday) the service was outstanding and the food was brought out quickly and hot.

"The experience was ok.....we were disappointed as previous reviews were glowing and touted it as an upscale Mexican restaurant. In our opinion it was a step up from Chi-Chi's. The outdoor patio was really nice and it has the potential to be something special."

"We looked forward to what looked like upscale Mexican(judging from online menu prices)for us 6.
The fajitas, at $22, had minimal fixin's (sr.cream, pico de gallo, cheese) and no guac; requested extra pico de gallo was delivered too late to use.
When the bill came, we had a big shock of getting a $90 (over 100 w/tip) bill for two pitchers of margaritas (maybe 6 small glasses worth each, half ice) and very expensive other drinks like a $10+ Manhattan. Waiter mistakenly upcharged us for premium tequila; he did drop price to 35 pitcher. Bottom line is that I would not return there because it was $100 per couple for a Mexican meal and drinks that generated ZERO buzz. Food was good, but WAY over budget for Mexican once you added a couple drin

"If Coyote Crossing is wondering why they've recently needed to offer groupons, let me enlighten them. Food is still really tasty but the restaurant is mismanaged. Service is hit or miss and our's was a big miss. Water was not refilled. Chips were served without salsa and there was rarely a person or server to ask about any if this. He had way too many tables to provide adequate service and despite a reservation for 6 people made 1 week ahead of time, we were crammed at a 5 person table and told there weren't any other tables to switch to. This place has gone downhill in recent years. If you're willing to drive into the city, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere, such as La Calaca Feliz."

"Much pricey than we thought. $9 for guac, $9 for a small margarita with an addition 50 cents for frozen (?), coffee $3 in smaller cups. Food was good but not outstanding. Calamari was overcooked. We won't be back. Not enough bang for too much buck."

"Food was delicious, portions were huge, and I would definitely recommend grabbing a mojito while you are there. The outdoor patio seems like a fun spot during the warmer weather. It was very loud inside and sometimes difficult to hear the conversation at the table. The Pandora music being piped through the restaurant was annoying with the frequent commercials. But aside from those items, it was a great night out with good food and friends."

"This was my second visit there and it wasn't as good as the first. The service was quite poor. Both my friend and I have a decade of experience in the service industry so couldn't help but tip 20% though were really disappointed. The server would disappear for a very long time when he said he'd be back with a drink, water or chips. He'd forget the chips or water so we'd just be stuck sitting there and the restaurant was not busy at all. We felt that everything was a little overpriced and weren't impressed with the experience, especially when you factor in the lack luster service in an empty restaurant."

"Coyote Crossing is a great neighborhood restaurant in Coshohocken and when we're in the mood for Mexican food, the perfect place to go. Menu is a more upscale and, therefore pricier than some similar places; however, the food is excellent, service very attentive and on nice days the outdoor patio is a real pleasure. This visit was on a weeknight on the early side and the place was full but not bustling, making for a relaxed and unhurried meal. We've seen Coyote Crossing packed and very noisy, so pick your time if you want a quieter ambience. If you go at other times, you'll find a fun and festive atmosphere. By all means, make a reservation."

"First time here and everything was amazing. My fiancee and I had a queso fundido with chorizo as an appetizer and it was fantastic. She had fajitas and I had a burrito. The portion sizes were insanely large and we had a full other meal to eat the next day. I would highly recommend, the service was good also!"

"I had one of the evening specials, the Hawaiian Butterfish, and it was very good. The bed of succotash was plentiful and flavorful. My party of three thoroughly enjoyed our meals. It was St. Patrick's weekend and the place was extremely noisy with pub crawlers and parties. Overall, a good experience."

"The food was exceptional. There were three in our party and we all had the chicken enchiladas with mole sauce. The waiter and support were very friendly and attentive. Because we went there early in the evening and with a reservation we didn't have a problem, but be aware that they have a small parking lot. They take large parties of 8 or more but it's probably best to share a ride or you might not find parking. The music was a little too loud, but tolerable. We will probably come again, but just for a special occasion as they were a little pricy. 16-17 for a burrito. The chicken enchiladas had 3 generous portions, rice and black beans on the side. 18.95."

"Indoor area is tight which makes it loud in there and it is also dark but the fireplace lights it up and makes it somewhat romantic if you can hear what your significant other is saying. Food was absolutely delicious, fresh and fast the presentation was stunning! I had a roasted pineapple mojito which was very pineappley and fresh. For a restaurant in the middle of a residential area it was priced slightly higher than I thought with most entrees around 20-27 dollars but portions were not lacking and we left stuffed. They had an outdoor area which i'm sure would be great in the summer time under the trees romantically lit with white christmas lights everywhere."

"We went on a Saturday night and be warned - they really cram you in. The place is not very big and sure do try to fit as many people as they can.
The food is good, they give you chips and pico to start. I always get the enchiladas with the mole sauce. Mole sauce is a sauce made from chocolate, but don't let that scare you, it's delicious! We also either get the nachos which are VERY good! or the chips & guacamole - also good. The margaritas are amazing (if you're a party of two and you each plan on drinking two margs, order a half a pitcher - which contains two margs. each - it's cheaper that way.
Overall, I recommend Coyote Crossing. Just don't expect an intimate setting; and I don't suggest it for large parties."

"There was one snafu that was a big one. At the end of our meal we presented our groupon coupon on our phone with a barcode to scan. Groupon gives the option to print the coupon or show the email with the barcode. The server at first told we had to redeem it ehen we were clearly showing her the redeemed and valid groupon. The server then said she had to talk to her manager came back and told us that because other people tried to scam before they could not honor it. When we said this was uacceptable the server then went to talk to the manager. She then returned to the table saying the managrer on duty does not have a "scanner". After too much back and forth it was honored. The manager did not touch our table once. This was very poor."

"I have always recommended Coyote to friends because it is a fun atmosphere and it's the best spot for outdoor dining in the area. The food is good, although overpriced. With that said, the last several times we have dined at Coyote Crossing, the customer service has been awful, specifically the waitstaff. We have sometimes gone over an hour without seeing our server. They take forever to bring your food out, forget items, get items wrong, etc. Each time we have gone, we have been there well over 2 hours because of the slow service. Last time we went with a group, we were told once we were done eating that they can only take 2 CC's. I have split the bill on 3 or more CC's many times before and complained but the waitress didn't seem to care."
