"Catch is one of my favorite restaurants in the Castro area. The food is amazing. Even if you're just going for fish and chips Catch is a great choice for dinner. Their outdoor patio has a great fire burning in the middle so it's a comfortable temperature even when it's cold outside. Their menu has a great selection of seafood and other options and they do amazing work with the vegetables that come on the side. I never hesitate to recommend Catch to my friends."

"My wife and son went to Catch for dinner last Saturday night while in San Fran and it was an absolutely awesome experience. Our waiter, Tyler, was truly one of the better waiters I've had the pleasure of having. He saw me offering a bite of soup to my wife and he magically showed up behind us with 2 more spoons to sample. Very perceptive. The food was outstanding, I had one of the best martini's ever and prawns on risotto that was wonderful. We'd definitely go back again. Well worth the visit."

"Can't honestly speak to noise level because we were there for an early dinner before crowds arrived. But I can speak to the food & the service which were both excellent & the ambiance which was very pleasant. I had the halibut & my husband had the talapia & we both absolutely cleaned our plate. Our neighbors at the next table raved about the mussels so now you have 3 dishes on the menu that got a " thumbs up", a good sampling. We will definitely go back."

"I ate at Catch when it first opened & was not impressed at all then. This time the food was better but not perfect. I had the salmon pizza. The salmon was good but the crust was evidently a prepackaged one, more cracker than pizza crust. I found it to be so objectionable I ate the last half without the crust.
The crab cakes were good.
Service was slow - there seemed to be a shortage of staff to wait the tables.
I ate in the dining room with an open wall to the street & the noise level was still unbearable.
While the food has improved the overall experience is still lacking."

"A good fish restaurant in the Castro that could be great. The place was very busy and loud and needs something on the ceiling to absorb the sound. The table rocked and was in a main aisle so my chair was kicked repeatedly as people walked by. Waiter seemed aloof. Salmon with black eyed peas and the fish special with risotto were both very flavorful. The other tables around us had bread but it was never offered to us. We would come back but at a different table."

"The appetizers were great but I didn't think much of the lobster fettuccine or my friends butterfish. There was barely any lobster in the pasta and the fish was not tender or buttery enough. We have both had better."

"Beautifully presented, generous portions of worse-than-mediocre food. The fried calamari appetizer was soggy (as if it had been fried hours earlier and zapped in a microwave)). The entrees were boring and not-very good, one-dimensional in flavor and over-salted. And everything was wildly over-priced (my cocktail was over 50% more expensive than identical cocktails in other neighborhood bars). Like far too much in the Castro, Catch is chic and without substance. The ambiance was lovely and the service excellent, but that's not enough: When I go out to eat, I appreciate decent food. There are far better restaurants in the neighborhood at a fraction of the price. I won't return."

"We did not think the food matched up to our expectations based on reviews we read prior to making the reservation. Additionally, we were at a table that was very cold since it was in a part of the restaurant that was only protected from the outdoors by a plastic sheet and the heat lamps didn't do enough to take away the chill. If we return to the restaurant, which is highly unlikely, we would make sure to be seated in the main dining room of the restaurant."

"To be frank, I was a bit disappointed. I had not been to Catch for a few years and had been craving some seafood, plus I wanted to take my partner out for a nice dinner to say thank you for working so hard on our taxes. Sadly, everything was just so-so ... the food, the wait staff, the ambiance. It was not awful, but for the prices paid (which were not outrageous, but still up there) I would have expected more."

"We usually pick new restaurants based on their gluten-free/celiac safe ratings and reviews, but not this time. I was craving some nice fish and Catch's menu looked perfect and was a short(ish) walk away.
The staff was engaging and careful to double check if a dish had any non-obvious gluten. After oysters and the arugula salad, we had the halibut and the salmon - absolutely spectacular. I've been thinking about it ever since and can't wait to find an excuse to go back."

Recommendation taken and appreciated as the crab cake sandwich was exquisite, coupled with the caesar salad. Lobster bisque was a little bland and could have used more seasoning. "My partner took me to Catch on Friday night to celebrate my promotion. The service & the bar drinks were superb, as always! Regarding food, the Hama Hama River and Point Reyes raw half-shelled oysters were fresh and very tasty. I must say though that my partner's salmon entree was much preferred to my halibut entree (which in itself was fine, really). I don't often order salmon out because I make it so often at home. But this one was worth ordering. And the live piano music adds so much to the ambiance and overall experience. We'll be back."

"I was disappointed. We have been to Catch before, and I was looking forward to going again. The food was simply bland, and boring, and service was attentive, too much so, I felt like we were being rushed out, even though we were (and have spent a lot of money). We saw our waiter from our last visit, and that was fie. Our waitress was fine, however, several errors were made. My husband and I ordered martinis and then a glass of wine for dinner. My wine was served at the same time of martini. My husband's wine wasn't served until we requested it during dinner (she forgot). Also, when our oysters order was wrong, and they took our meals away before being we were done, and felt very rushed. So sad, because I did like it here..."
