"Catch is well sited in the Castro to reach on public transportation - within a block. They kindly honored our late arrival for our reservation. Our server was friendly, informative and unobtrusively attentive to our needs. They had terrific French bread to start with. The crab cake appetizer was lovely, mostly crab. The fish and chips were great and my mahi mahi with al dente green beans and asparagus had the best vegetable soy flavoring without being salty! We wrapped it up with creme brulee which was nice but not quite crispy on top. I would love to go back to eat there again the next time we're in town. They have a piano so I'm sure it can be a bit more lively but we thoroughly enjoyed the quieter atmosphere of a Monday evening."

"In a word - fantastic. Great food, excellent service. Wonderful seafood options. We were also tempted by a daily special which was terrific too. We would highly recommend Catch to any one travelling to San Francisco!"

"First time visit to Catch was memorable in the best way: ambiance was marvelous, the service flawless, the food wonderful. We were seated near the fireplace which made the meal truly a romantic firesdie supper. Tim, our server, was outstandingly professional, attentive without being intrusive, he helped make the dining experience an outstanding one. The wine list was good and not outrageously priced. The food was stellar. The starters and salad were uniformly excellent, the fish was not overcooked, the sides balanced the fish in texture and taste. Although this was our first dining experience at Catch, it will definitely not be our last."

"Loved this resturant, picl it for 2 reasons....the online menu had a few items that interested me, and it offered 1000 points, and I am glad I did. The food was amazing, the decor trendy (IMHO), and the staff was so nice, ecspecially our waiter Barry!! We will be back, even if we are not staying in the City...it is worth the drive up from Mountain View."

"Very good service. High prices - $10.00+ for a bowl of soup! Disappointing menu. Going to a seafood restaurant I was hoping to have a cup of clam chowder and a Shrimp Louie salad. Nothing like that on the menu. The Seafood Chowder sounded good, but not at $10.00 a bowl, no cup size offered. My companions liked the Fish and Chips. I was not thrilled with the gnocci - too much flour in the dough. I doubt if I will return."

"What an awesome seafood restaurant find on Market/Castro! The friendly and helpful staff greeted us with much care. I must say, the waiters are very attentive and very nice! The food was awesome!! The lobster bisque was yummy and the Ceasar salad was made in a fashion I hadn't had in years! They were very generous with the anchovies unlike other places where you only get 2 or 3 pieces. We ordered the deep fried calamari and it was huge order! We had to take half of it home but we didn't mind. For our main course, I ordered the seafood stew....loved it!!! My wife ordered the Lobster fettucine and enjoyed it."

"We almost always have a good experience at Catch. Good food. This visit took us 40 minutes to be seated for our reservations, and we were crammed into a 4 seat table with 5 person. The Host did have a comp'd appetizer ready at our table when we did get seated. This is not our normal experience."

"My Sweetheart loved Catch. It was the perfect start to a great Romantic Valentine's night. Prices were a bit high but the steak was the second best i've had... ever. The fish and seafood exceeded my expectations and my sweetheart fell in love with it and wants to go back already. Great Service. It was a bit busy and noisy as it was V day. Great experience, can't wait to go back."

"The waiter needs more training:
1. My dining companion was not quite finished with his salad when the waiter began taking the plates.
2. I was asked to keep my knife for the next course. For a $24 main entre, I do believe I should get a clean knife.
3. I was half way through my fish stew when the waiter realized I did not have a dish for the shells. He should have brought it before the stew was served."

"Our dinner experience was AWESOME food was the best Ive experienced in a long time I had the halibut over risotto WOW tastes were just great!!!! "The food and atmosphere were very nice - everything we had was well prepared and tasted good. The service could use some work, as we had to wait 20 minutes past the time of our reservation for our table, our waiter was somewhat disorganized and disengaged. We had to ask repeatedly for bread and water, and the waiter forgot to put in the order for our sides, which we cancelled. At these prices, Catch needs to tighten things up more."

"Gnocchi with broccolini and red peppers in marinara were heavy, glue-y little balls in an unremarkable sauce. Pear salad with walnuts was large, with lots of interesting greens (purslane) but overall bland and not well balanced. Service was pleasant and friendly but uneven -- too long a wait for drinks, pacing of courses was iffy. "Our dining experience was average. There was nothing special about it. This is why I have a problem with dropping 98.00 for two people and it just to be average. I just feel like the experience was not worth this much money. We were in and out in less than an hour and the food wasn't spectacular. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad either. I mean the fish and chips were...well...fish and chips. My dates salmon was well...salmon. The cocktails are way over priced and seemed to be less than a full glass. I would encourage everyone to try this restaurant and make up your own mind. You will get decent food, decent service, but worth the money? Let the diner make the decision."

"We were underwhelmed by the food, service and atmosphere of Catch. First off, the pomegranate margaritas were bad. They were very small, filled with ice, and 11 bucks! The salad and soup starters we had were okay. The wine we ordered--1/2 price on Tuesday, was just okay. We were surprised someone had chosen this wine for the wine list. The entrees we had, part of the Dine About Town menu, rack of lamb with prawns and sea-food pasta, were pretty good. But then our third course, the desserts, were very plain, blah. We spent over $150. for 2 (including tip and 1/2 priced wine)and we didn't think the experience was worth the money. We figured this place was only popular due to some local loyal customers who like to frequent Castro restaurants."

"We went for DAT on a Tuesday evening, the restaurant was very calm and quiet. I had ordered the sweet potato soup (which was a little bland), seared scallops (which came with three very small scallops, but were cooked perfectly) and the butterscotch pudding (which was SUPERB, not overwhelming in flavor and the texture was fabolous). We took advantage of the 50% off of wine / champagne and got a bottle of Cakebread Chardonnay, delicious and a perfect compliment to the scallops. Service was spectacular."

"This was my first choice when making a reservation for a special birthday dinner. Totally no regrets. We were greeted promptly and were seated with our choice on the nicely warm patio. "was not particularly impressed with the food. even the waiter only had 3 dishes he really recommended. the corn risotto on the mixed grill plate was fantastic, but i was disappointed by the trio of filets. their flavor lacked depth. the salmon dish was good - but very buttery. the sushi appetizer was great, though. overall, the dishes weren't knockouts, though. and for that reason, the prices were a bit unreasonable. catch isnt especially cheap - and has a relatively pricey wine list - but it would be worth the money had the food stood up to the prices. however, my dining companion and i left full, but underwhelmed."

"Busy place. A bit noisy with tables too close together. Two of us dined at Catch - the pasta with lobster was excellent. Sea Bass was cooked properly, but the overall dish was fair with ingredients that did not blend well - basically a concept gone awry! Asparagus served was not the young tender shoots but rather the large rather woody stalks which made the dish less appealing. I would say that on balance the food was average, though I would have the pasta dish again without question. Probably will not return."

"Our first trip to Catch...took a chance...found it very nice. Had a table for two next to the fireplace. "This was my first time at Catch though I have heard about it often. I went with three friends who also had never been there. We went for late brunch on a Saturday. All inall we had a good time and enjoyed the food and setting. The place was not crowded and thus was quiet and service was attentive. We sat near the fireplace and luckily the patio was covered and heat was going. I don't know how that other couple was actually at an outside table on such a cold day! but inside was lovely. Notable dishes included the fish and chips, spinach and broccolini sides. The cocktails were good as well. I'll go back."

"our waiter Tim was great, it was crazy busy on Christmas Eve and one of the first things Tim asked us is if we had to be somewhere at a particular time - we did, and he said he would get us out in plenty of time. True to his word, Tim just did a great job and considering he, and the resturant, were very busy, we had an excellent dinner and got to the event in plenty of time. Thanks Tim!!"

"Returning to Catch is like coming to your favorite food and knowing it is always fresh, tasty and satisfing. I'm not wanting this to seem that I want everyone to run over and give it a try. The point is; things treasured are hard to share, so if your around and you've made sure you made a reservation, do find time. Any wait person will be excellent. Bring your favorite wine ($8 corking fee)sip and relax. Nice to be enjoying a Catch like this anytime of the year."

"I was a waiter for years, and can appreciate and tip well for good service. What I don't like is when gratuity is included, and the service is just plain terrible. Our waiter Hugh was never around, nor smiled or seemed concerned with the service we received. Once we finally did get our food, it was quite good."

"I love Catch and for someone who is not a fan of seafood that is saying a lot! two words; crab cakes!!! you must try them, they are the best.
Fish and Chips; also the best, not greasy, very lite and a generous portion.

"Our dinner at Catch was a Thanksgiving Eve special get together. Catch's menu had something for everyone. The appetizers were delightful; the main courses large enough to be filling but not so large as to over eat. The wine list was excellent. The service was unfussy, but prompt and helpful. The main course items, in the $19 to $23 range, were appropriately priced--and maybe even on the low side considering how exceptionally well prepared and delicious they were. In short, our special family get together was made even more memorable by the lovely meal."

"Nice fireplace and heat lamps for semi-outdoors area - keeps it very warm! Great customer service, and Tuesdays 50% off all bottles of wine is a tough deal to beat. Fixed price menu is a good deal - and my waitress offered to change my "fixed price" dessert to any dessert listed on the menu. (Though I stuck with the bread pudding, which was very satisfying)."

"A great overall dining experience and extremely good food. Catch offers a wide selection of fresh seafood creatively prepared to any taste. There were a number of entrees of the non-seafood variety as well. The server was extremely knowledgeable and all of his suggestions were as described, including the wine. The restaurant is out in the Castro so the tourist trade is limited but once experienced I can guarantee diners will make it a regular stop."

"We dined here twice during this visit to SF, both Sunday evenings, 11/8/09 and 11/15/09, our last night in San Francisco. You cannot go wrong with any of the seafood selections.
