We are a small family run cafe in the heart of Sonoma's square and the beautiful wine country. We change our menu daily to utilize what is available and at it's best. We love to support our local farmers and winemakers. All of our produce, meat, poultry and fish come from farms, fisheries, and ranches guided by principals of sustainability.

Harvest Moon Cafe is unique for its creative food selections that are fresh in every sense, and so worth the fair prices. The intimate cavernous feel of the main dining area sets the mood for a leisurely feast. The kitchen looks and feels like a trattoria tucked away in an Italian hill town. The wine list has surprising depth and flair designed to complement the food flavors. Maurizio, our waiter, is the epitome of great service--professional and personable. "My wife and I were visiting wine country for the first time and Harvest Moon had come highly recommended by a chef friend. Very, very good and amazing food!!! The staff was so much fun! We tried to go back but the only reservations left were really early and really late!! Definitely a high quality restaurant with a backyard feel. We cant wait to go back!"

Only downside was that the dining room was just too loud to have a conversation, so it wasn't the ideal spot for a romantic dinner that I had hoped for. Our small two person table was narrow but deep, and we were sandwiched between two larger groups so that may have been part of the problem."

"We had an excellent meal. The menu is exciting and is almost all locally sourced. I had fried rabbit and my wife a halibut - the best examples of each we've ever had, and we dine out on the east coast twice a week. Service was excellent, I enjoyed sitting inside and watching the chefs prepare our meal with efficiency and artistry. I only wish I didn't live on the other side of the country."

"This was out first brunch at the Harvest Moon Cafe. The menu is somewhat limited but this is in keeping with the way the restaurant works. My wife and I both had the breakfast dishes, French toast & biscuits, gravy with scrambled eggs, both were great. They made a simple grilled cheese sandwich for my 4 year old daughter. The patio area is great for brunch/lunch on the weekends."

"The small but ever changing menu had enough choices to make anyone happy. The food was fresh and the mix of flavors was both interesting and delicious. Our waitress must have great job satisfacion to be able to present such wonderful choices and it showed in her enjoyment while serving us. We shared two excellent and diverse salads with ingredients such as fava beans, peas. pomegranite and hummus or oranges and lentils and amonds. The halibut was the best I've ever had, and the peanut butterr chocolate chip brownie with homemade bottersweet chocolate ice cream was amazingly simple and delicious!"

"A great casual meal in a lovely location. Right on the square in Sonoma. The service was cordial, professional, and welcoming.
The mushroom risotto was memorable and our steak very nicely prepared. All our dishes showed care and sophistication without being fussy.

"The Harvest Moon Cafe has become our favorite Sonoma restaurant. We took our 4.5 year old daughter this time. It is always a challenge to take kids to good restaurants. We sat out in the Patio (covered and heated this time of the year). My daughter was brought a box of crayons and paper to color as soon as were got there. They made a great mac & cheese for our daughter and she nibbled on other things. The treatment of our daughter made this an great family dinner. There were also other kids there. Of course, the food for the adults was again great and we enjoyed every dish. The daily menu change is great and has enough variety for most people."

"This is a small restaurant with a limited menu. Due to the size of the menu it is difficult for them to do any kind of substitutions. The food was decent but I found it a rip off. I was told many of the items on the menu could be made vegetarian. I ordered a shrimp and asparagus with grits entree and was told they would turn it into a vegetarian dish. I was served a dish with only asparagus and cheese grits. It was tasty but I was stunned when I was charged the same amount as the shrimp dish. My dining partner ordered a steak and although he loves peppery dishes, he found the dish almost too peppery."

"Best food of our Sonoma weekend, which we feel is saying a lot given all the great dining we found in Sonoma. The rib-eye steaks were done to perfection, along with the potatoes and collared greens. The quail was out of this world, as was the lamb. Wines were paired perfectly with the help of our friendly and patient waiter!"

"As always, Harvest Moon was spectacular. It is casually elegant with wonderful food. Our waiter was professional, helpful, and appropriately attentive. The food was fabulous! We enjoyed the Leg of Lamb and the Rib Eye. The potatoes au gratin are sinfully wonderful! And dessert completed the evening with finesse. We even met the grape growers for the wine we were drinking, who happened to be there for dinner themselves. A wonderful restaurant with food worth returning for over and over again! Thank you."

"Well we had a reasonably nice dinner there but I didn't feel that anything was spectacular. The outside in back can be delightful on a summer night but in winter they have a tent. We were warm enough but halfway through our meal a group of four guys came in and were seated next to us. They were ridiculously loud - shouting at each other. They basically ruined our evening.
The restaurant inside is so crowded that at any moment someone's rear end is in your face or your dinner. Some people obviously like this because the place was jammed. I won't be back very soon though because the food is just OK."

"This was my first time at the Harvest Moon Cafe and I will be back. The menu changes everyday so the options will be a surprise each time. I had an Ahi Tuna & Beet salad to start and grilled steak. "We dined at Harvest Moon on March 2nd. While it was an OK evening, we expected more given the reviews we had read in advance. Among the positives, the food was tasty and the wine was good; staff were friendly and attentive. On the negative side --the place is very small and the tables feel like they are on top of each other. We found the choices on the menu to be fairly limited, and a few of the choices that evening didn't appeal to either of us. I had pork two ways - one way was excellent and the other was bland. The salad was large and nothing special. My husband's rib eye steak was flavorful but a bit tough. The chocolate bread pudding dessert was the best part of the meal. Suggested wine pairings with menu would have been nice."

"We dined for dinner on a Monday night, and we came in a bit earlier than the supper crowd. We chose to sit near the bar and open kitchen to see the action. Our server, Corrinne, was friendly and knowlegeable about a menu which changes daily. My spinach salad with house cured prosciutto and fresh mozzerella was balanced with a citrus vinaigrette. I had a morroccan-style lamb dish with couscous and greens. When I commented that all it need was some cracked green olives for brininess and authenticity, they appeared! Desserts are also made at the restaurant, and my perfect single slice tarte tatin with armanac prune ice cream was a perfect finish. You could really taste the caring of the chefs."

"I think this would be a great spot during the summer months. This time of year the patio is encased in sheet plastic to stay warm and leaves something to be desired. We opted to sit inside and wedged into a corner table in the bar. Should have sat at the kitchen bar and watched the chefs! Beet salad was unique and to die for. Great combo of flavors and colors. Mushroom pasta entree wasn't spectacular and tasted a bit too salty. Steak was well prepared, brussel sprouts that accompanied were overcooked and limp."
