Located in the heart of Midtown, our restaurant serves authentic French Provencal cuisine in a casual bistro setting. Our carefully crafted menu, extensive wine selection, impeccable service, and elegant, yet cozy, atmosphere brings the best of Provence to your dining experience.
"Food has good international variety and taste. Service efficient and attentive. Well known Bistro experience. Our first visit. Probably good for other times of day. Word Saju, in the name, is hard to find outside restaurant, so tell friends to look for Bistro, the number, 120, and next to a hotel."

"We have dined at this restaurant many times and have never had a bad experience. It is a lovely French restaurant with wonderful food and service. It is very convenient for pre theater dinner and they always get you out on time to make the show. The menu choices are varied and never fails to please. We look forward to returning again very soon."

"Perfect for pre-theatre. Very good food in nice surroundings with excellent service. Although we did not try it, there is a very reasonably priced prix-fixe menu (which you need to ask for.)"

"Great location and great dinner. Best and largest lamb shank that I've had in a very long time. The escargot was tasty, but a little overcooked. Pork with mustard sauce was also delicious. Very good service and good atmosphere. Good selection of wine by the glass."

"We had horrible very amateurish service. The waitress barely understood us and after she brought the entrees for 3 of us she told my friend they were out of Granola. Then my friend ordered something else. It came after we were all finished with our meals. Very disappointed. We should have gone to a diner which would have been much more enjoyable."

"We stumbled upon Saju as we looked through the Open Table restaurants and decided to give it a try one beautiful spring morning. It was a great decision. Owned by well know restaurateur Philippe Bernard (a terrific host), we sat at a lovely table by the open window, were afforded perfect service by all the staff, and savored authentic bistro fare. Whatever we asked for, the kitchen complied with, and, best yet, the bill was ultra reasonable. Looking forward to returning."

"The waitress did not give us the price fixed menu until we asked. She said we had to ask for it. All 5 of us were very upset by that kind of sleazy attitude.
"Energetic" is not the adjective we would use for the noise level. It was extremely noisy and loud."

"What a surprise! This restaurant is bigger than you think from the outside. So charming, the whole staff were so accommodating and charming. We enjoyed the food, almost too pretty to eat. Wine list was complete. Would definitely go back."

"Went pre-theater and had never been there before -- excellent overall experience. Food and service was excellent. Very nice atmosphere. Had a great, comfortable looking bar area, which was quiet when we arrived and quite busy when we left. My wife and the lamb shank, exellent, and I had the rabbit -- very good! Will definitely return again"

"We had not left enough time before our theater curtain. The management allowed us to come back after the performance (just two blocks away for our dessert and coffee. And this was on the prix-fixe dinner. Very helpful."

"Surprising find. And hard to find (signage is terrible). But rest of restaurant experience is superior. Very cozy and personalized. Owner and servers obviously take pride and like what they do. Thank you!"

"So happy we had a reservation. We were booked for an early dinner, pre-theatre. Lots of people waiting to be seated but we were taken immediately. Very knowledgeable and efficient staff. Great wine recommendation which paired well with my bouillabaise and my husband's steak. Starters are inventive, salads large enough to share. Dessert is great. Great start to a terrific evening-"

"Don't know how I missed this one all these years. Everything about the place was good even though it was quite crowded. I would definitely return everytime I am in that part of town because the menu is varied enough not to get tired of the food."

"The "neighborhood" is the heart of the theatre district--across the street from the Belasco and around the corner from the Imperial. The menu is Provençal. They have a pre fixe menu which you may have to ask for. Tell the waiter you have theatre tickets and they'll ensure you're out in time to make your curtain. Love their moules and brandade. The pistou is very good, as is the potato leek soup."

"Although I thought I knew all the restaurants in the theatre district, we dined at Saju Bistro adjacent to the Hotel Mela on 44th. Wow! A classic French Bistro --- featuring an ample 3 course prix fixe for $28 pp (including coffee!). Starters included a terrific Brandade, mussels, salads; mains included excellent salmon, mussels (again); excellent chicken on the bone; steak. Nice wine list; desserts included tart sorbets, creme caramel, ice cream. Ambiance is nice; service on the money! A new find ---Bon Appetit!"

"Saju is a conveniently located French bistro in the theater district. It is casual, with moderate prices, yet the food and service are top drawer. Highly recommended for pre- or post- theater dining."

"As before, we had a very nice pre-theater meal foodwise, but this time we had a waiter who was at best indifferent and at worst neglectful. I would probably return based on the food quality and value (though I would ask for a different server), but my companions were really turned off by the service we received, or rather did not receive."

"We went on a Saturday evening for a pre-theatre dinner. The pre-theatre menu is a real bargain, with a lot of choices, and cheap for its location in the heart of Times Square. For those willing to fork over a bit more cash and order off the menu, the rabbit gnocci stew was superb."

"Such a lovely restaurant. My husband and I took friends twice this week and everyone was very happy. One of our guests had trouble choosing a wine and the waiter brought her two to taste-how nice! This is a great oasis in the theatre district. Feels more like a neighborhood restaurant with none of the tourist trappings and no tourists."
