"Manager checked in with our table to make sure all was well. Great Food and bartender, John, made a special drink that was really good. Enjoyed the dinner with family on Mother's Day."

"It has been about a year since we last visited. Spencer's has been THE place to go for steaks. They sear them beautifully on the outside and cook them perfectly on the inside. However, this time the searing was more a burning, and the cuts were not as flavorful or nicely textured as we are used to. Even a guest of ours, who had never been to the restaurant, was disappointed. I'm not sure if the general quality of the meat was down, or if the cook was off that night, but we were disappointed. On the bright side, our cocktails were delicious."

"We dined at Spencer's to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary. Both of our steaks were cooked to our liking and were very tender. Service was outstanding."

"The main courses & sides were excellent! My compliments to the chef! The waitress was seldom around except when she needed to do something with us. We sat waiting long periods for ANYTHING!
Her recommendation of the dessert, the pear item, OMG it was so sour. She said it was a favorite of hers and yet we could barely eat it. First desert in my life that I simply could not eat. I recommend removing it from the menu, forget the profit margin, I don't think the guests want to eat a vinegar soaked pear!
Since service is just as important as the food, I would NOT recommend Spencer's to anyone. For the $200.00 we spent, we could have had a better time at The Grill or McCormick's."

"1st Time at Lunch - service was quick and it was not as crowded as in the evening (It was a relief to be sure), and surprisingly quiet so that we could talk in the table
Food was expected, it was good but not different than those at dinner (Some of the same caliber restaurant would experiment during lunch), price was high for the quality/portion it offered during lunch. But not complaining, just that you should expect it."

"I usually frequent Spencer's for business lunch meetings so can't comment on any dinner experience. I have ordered the Salmon entrée a couple of times and have noticed the portion size shrinking every time. The last time prompted me to let fellow dinners know. For $18.00, think twice of ordering a deck of card size salmon which comes on top of 1/2 inch cubes of vegetables and a green puree sauce to fill the plate. You know its a problem when all your fellow diners start sharing their meals with you since they feel sorry for you.
Take the salmon off the menu if you want to skimp, Spencer."

"High price food,Loud dining room,White wine servrd at room temperature?, really? After I pointed this out the waitstaff offered to chill the wine,For a $50 steak I would like to have a knife that can cut the meatYou get instead a impressive looking but dull device. So I would have been better off ordering meatloafOverall overpriced, boring and non inspired"

"The 14oz. rib-eye steak was too salty and was more rare than the medium rare that we ordered. We dined here around two months ago, and the steaks were cooked perfectly on all four steaks. They must have changed cooks."

"Everything from the Hostess, to the waiter, to the food was nice. The lighting and ambiance were comforting and intimate. The food was displayed in a manner so attractive I didn't even want to disturb it by eating. The staff was attentive but not overbearing and I will gladly go back next time I am in town."

"On February 14 we were seated at our table immediately. Our server offered a special Valentine Dinner menu. We both had the Salmon entre with salad and dessert and white wine. Our water was topped off frequently by our beverage host However; upon payment. I did not receive the usual half off entre. I payed with my visa/debit Passport credit card. I understand my Passport credit card has specials with merchants like Spencers. I'd appreciate an explaination as to why I was not offered the special rate."

"This is a very good hotel restaurant. The restaurant is nice and quiet and serene - nice for a romantic meal. The prices are on the high side but the food did not disappoint. Our server was timely and attentive without being intrusive. Very close to my ideal dining experience - especially notable for a hotel restaurant. Just don't go here if dollars are tight, as all entrees are a la carte and so sides are essential. The wine list is pricey - the cheapest bottle of red was over $40, if I recall correctly."

"Took my wife for 26 year wedding anniversary. I had been before and raved about it. Decided to go back for special dinner, but food was sub-par. The host sat us at a very non-romantic table along a big long seat that lined up other 2 tops. She put us between 2 other couples. Felt like you were having dinner with them. I asked to get a different table and they moved us. I ordered Shrimp Scampi but it was tasteless and nothing like what I has at previous visit, just 4 months prior. My wife's scallops were over cooked and the burnt sides were placed face down. She didn't want to complain. The Green Beans were terrible as they were soggy, chewy and cold. The bright light was the server. He took a while to get to us but took care of us."

"I asked the waiter if it would be possible to change the finger potatoes for mash potatoes. He told me it was a set menu and that I was out of luck. This is not acceptable when you are paying two hundred dollars dinner for two people."

"Valentine's Day - offered a prix fixe menu, but wasn't aware that that was *all* they offered. Salad offered had fennel, which my wife and I both dislike - could we just get some greens? No. OK, we'll skip salad. No apologies offered. Wrong food delivered to our table. OK, things happen, but again, no apologies. Wife's steak was ordered medium rare - came out rare. Again, no apologies. Three strikes, you're out. Dessert was labeled "chocolate decadence" - was a bunch of cakes that probably were Little Debbies drizzled with chocolate sauce. Are you kidding?"

"Crawfish and corn chowder was AMAZING...lots of crawfish and a little bit of spice, so I'm hoping that Spencer's keeps this on their menu, and doesn't just offer it on Valentine's day."

"I love the feel of this place - great for intimate dining or special occassions. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The seared ahi and shrimp appetizers were amazing. Who knew that hash browns with apple wood smoked bacon could be out of this world along with creamed spinach. Service was outstanding and friendly, wines were affordable. Of course you MUST try the beignets - Out of this WORLD."

"To meet a good friend we needed somewhere that we could talk, somewhere quiet. I could only think of 2 places. But I love going to Spencers. It always starts out quiet and intimate, the steaks are some of the best in town, and the service is always seconds away when you want something. As the evening progresses, the late diners show up and it gets a bit noisy but never as bad as shouting across the table to talk. So, for a quiet evening of talk and good food, Spencers is where I always go."

"We went to Spencer's while attending an event at the hotel. We arrived at 5:30 so there was barely anyone else there. The ambiance in the restaurant is lovely and we were greeted by a back server immediately and offered either sparkling or still water. We ordered the dried cherries and blue cheese salad which showed up without blue cheese. We couldn't get our server's attention so we flagged down another waitress who brought out some blue cheese for us to sprinkle across the tops. The food was good but the portions were small for the price. $32 for a plate with two small pieces of Ahi tuna. You need to order your side dishes separately. All in all this place had potential but we expected more."

"Lunch has always been great. Dinner crowd seemed mostly from the hotel - jeans, shorts, etc. We went for a birthday celebration and the food was only okay - we should have gone to the other steakhouse up the road for the price. Won't be back for dinner."
