Marinitas features a menu inspired by dishes found throughout Mexico and Latin America using local and seasonal products. Through the collaboration of Heidi Krahling and Frank Villa, Marinitas delivers Latin focused lusciousness that is an exciting blend of the new and the familiar.
The wine list mainly draws from the expansive selections of the best wine makers from Argentina and Chile. Cocktails focus on the silver and gold liquors of Central and South America. The bar is dedicated to classic cocktail preparations including citrus juice squeezed to order, house made sweet and sour made from unrefined cane sugars, along with the highest quality mixers. Beers include a full Mexican selection from light Lagers to dark regional Latin micro-brewed Ales.
"Marinitas was just ok. They need to update the menu and add more variety. There is also a need for consistency, I have been there three times in the last month and no cocktail has tasted the same. Over pricied for the leval of service and quality of food."

"The menu is small but everything I've had on it (and I've had most items by now) has been well-prepared and delicious. This place is great for after-work drinks & noshing. The decor is quirky and comfortable at the same time. It's a tad noisy, but nothing you wouldn't expect from an open room with a bar that is popular with the local crowd."

"The atmosphere is so cool, fun, and rich with a number of nods to Alta California. The quality of the food and drink is very high, and they were able to handle our large group with ease. I wish I lived closer, I'd go more often. Totally worth the trip though. A great venue for 1-15 I would say!"

"The only problem at Marinitas since they have opened is that the hostesses in the front go out of their way to not please you. You generally do not get the table you request and they seat you late when you have a reservation. Friday we had a reservation at 7.15 and we sat at 7.40....did not get the kind of table we requested...BUT food was good, drinks were good and we had a great waitress..."

"Why don't they put kids in one area? For us older people who love kids but have g'children we prefer quiet. Especially when parents don't seem to hear it or ignore it. It is NOT OK to let kids act like their at the playground when they're in a restaurant. I taught mine and mine taught theirs to "USE YOUR RESTAURANT VOICE". There are other people around wanting to eat in peace."

"The food is really spot-on these days. Had the chile relleno recently for the first time. A wonderful variation on the classic dish. The service is always welcoming. From the Guacamole to the Tres Leche Cake, not a disappointment in sight!"

"This is the most beautiful mexican restaurant in Marin with lovely ambience and an excellent list of Tequillas. However, I found the menu to be much more limited compared to my previous vist last year. I took my friend from out-of-town, who wanted to order a dish with a green sauce (not an unusual request for a mexican place), but a green sauce was not offered on the menu. We both ordered the enchiladas with red sauce which was tastey. The problem was that it was served in a cast iron skillet right from the oven and I burned my mouth badly. My friend does not want to return, but I might give it another shot.
Thank you, Lisa"

"We had a show to get to and marinitas provided four star service under a time constraint. Props to our waitress who was always around when we needed something and had a fun personality despite the busy atmosphere. It made our make-up valentines day night really special. Only complaint was that there wasn't enough shrimp in the ceviche. Thanks! -Gillian"

"I want to love this place, but can't. This most recent visit was a major letdown. Despite reservations we had to wait 15 to be seated. The waitress was nice. The margarita was good. I had a salmon dish that looked good but the salmon flavor was obscured by capers and olives. My wife's tinga was good. My mother-in-law's chicken enchiladas were salty to the point of being enedible. If I had it to do over again, I would go to Taco Jane's or Mi Pueblo (2 doors down, owned by same people as Marinitas) instead. Both have better food and better prices."

"If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, this is not quite what you're looking for. However, the menu is small and exclusive to foods that are very good for kind of a California style "Mexican food". The margarita's are very nice though, you'll have to get one or more of them! :-)"

"We always enjoy this place. One appetizer was forgotten and they wanted to bring it to us towards the end of dinner which we declined. We'll be back!"
