The Elkridge Furnace Inn holds a unique niche in Maryland history. Nestled on the Patapsco River, the Inn was first established as a tavern in 1744. Today, The Elkridge Furnace Inn houses an elegant restaurant with an intimate setting with working fire places in almost every room, lit from fall to early spring. Private parties welcome.

"Dined at the Furnace Inn to celebrate a birthday on a Thursday . As always, it was a wonderful experience. The complimentary split bottle of sparkling wine was the perfect way to begin as it provided each of us with a generous glass to enjoy while we perused the menu. Both of us had the prosciutto salad, which was dressed perfectly. My lamb entrée was cooked as ordered. My companion's veal saltimbocca was a generous portion that was finished at home. Tim's professional service added to our pleasant evening at this historic inn. This is our go to restaurant, not just for special occasions, but also for spontaneous meals."

"We went for the mother's day brunch buffet and for the price ($40 each) I was expecting a little something more gourmet. It was just regular stuff I could easily do at home, really a bit boring for a special occasion. We also didn't appreciate the restaurant adding 20% onto our tab for a party of 2 - it was a buffet so we received no service, I even made my own coffee..."

"We have dined at the Elkridge Furnace Inn several times and have always enjoyed it. The menu was seasonal French meaning it was very seasonal but like most French Food very filling and tasty. Our service was so/so on this experience. Our water glasses frequently went empty and our server was good but choppy. Our server would pay great attention to our table but disappear for stretches but would come back and be very attentive. This made for a strange pace for our meal. Not bad but not fantastic either. This is not the norm there. Also we may have put the pressure on them because we came early to stroll the grounds but we were interrupted by a rain storm and the took us earlier than our reservation time (about 1/2 an hour)."

"Being from an area with very good service, we found the service a little less than great, but adequate; however, the locals we went to dinner with thought the service was fine. (I think their expectations are lower.) On the other hand, the food was great. Everyone loved their food and none of the items we had were deficient.
I would add one thing though: I had no forwarning of the fixed price menu for Mothers' Day. I checked the menu online beforehand, but we ended up paying significantly more because of the "special" pricing on that day. Beware of similar situations on holidays."

"Came here to use a deal we got on Living Social and were not disappointed. I had the cream of crab soup to start and had a NY strip steak for dinner. My husband also had a NY strip but chose to get his blackened while I went with one of the sauces. The food tasted fresh and our waiter was very friendly. We had been there for a wedding a few months back and while there was a wedding reception happening while we were at dinner, you could hardly tell because of how well they have the spaces separated. We will defiantly return!"

"We celebrated 2 birthdays at Elkridge Furnace Inn. The Host immediately wished my husband and sister a happy birthday and the Waiters had also been informed. This was impressive. The Staff was friendly and attentive but not hovering. Champagne and sparkling apple cider were complimentary with the occasion which was a nice surprise.
The dinners were between good and very good. Their salads are works of art, the most beautiful of any fine restaurant! The tortellini, excellent. The lobster pot pie was filled with tender lobster. On the downside, the crab cakes were over-browned with few crab lumps, the roasted fingerling potatoes were hard and the Key Lime Crème Brulee was overly tart. Regardless, it was a very enjoyable dinner."

"I arrived there on time with my reservation and we were seated promptly. I booked this restaurant due to the fact that it was voted as a top 5 romantic restaurant spot and it fit the bill. Service, food and ambience were far above any restaurant I've visited before for a romantic occasion, i.e. The Melting Pot. I'd highly recommend this place if you're looking for excellent food, great service and a romantic night even though it is pricey."

"If you're looking for tasty food with slow European style service this is for you. A great place to linger with an excellent wine list and a menu that changes quarterly. My husband and I were out for a romantic date night and the place was perfect. The atmosphere was warm and cozy without being cramped or rushed. I had the lamb, pictured below. It was tender, well spiced and I nick-named it lamb-tastic it was so good. Definitely order it before it's off the menu. Jack has the Saltimbocca. It too was good, but the sauce was a little sweet for our taste. We split a dessert and were quite satisfied. The restaurant grounds looked quite beautiful and I am looking forward to dining again when the grounds are in full bloom!"

We couldn't believe the quality of the food, excellent fresh ingredients, wonderful flavor throughout every course, the wait staff was attentive, no attitude, quiet, pleasant ambience. "It's not worth the money, there really wern't many choices. Not too much to say about the food and I'm a chef... They charge you $2.00 extra if you share a appetizer or dessert and $5.00 extra if you share a meal. That's crazy!!! What are we paying for, the water and soap to wash the extra plate? I had asparagus and my husband wanted to taste it, so he rushed and ate it so we wouldn't get any extra charges..."

"Entree portions were large. Will probably split an entree next time. We were disappointed they have discontinued the Price fixed menu. The food was excellent in every way and the menu had a lot of variety to choose from. An excellent dining experience overall as usual. We highly recommend this restaurant."

"The food was amazing. We couldn't have been happier. The rooms are beautiful. However, the service was bad. Our server didn't have a personality and was bordering on apathy. I don't like it when you feel like your presence is a bother to the server. He was slow with the drinks, didn't explain the menu or specials well, didn't check back often, didn't ask if we wanted another drink, didn't clear our plates for two courses (I had to grab someone else walking by to get him to take them), and was on the verge of rude by the end of the meal. I expect good service no matter how much I'm paying, but if it's an $85 brunch for two, maybe you could perk up a little and act like you don't hate your job. If you do -- quit."

"The Elkridge Furnace Inn always delivers a great meal in pleasant surroundings. Their menu varies with the seasons so on return trips you can't get into a rut and order the same thing. I've never had a mediocre meal at the Inn and will continue to visit it regularly."

"The food was excellent. We appreciated the quality of the ingredients as well as the presentation. The dining area was pleasant, welcoming, an appropriate temperature control, with minimal noise levels despite the intimacy of the seating. Service was professional and correct. We liked the variety of choices, something for every palate. The pairings of tasting size wines with dinner was also a pleasant surprise for me... a good pairing as well as an appropriate amount for a light drinker who needs to drive home."
